Change the engine oil to a high grade oil. Don’t buy cheap poor quality engine oil. Then buy fuel tank cleaner. I have just forgotten the name but it helps to remove sludge in fuel tank. Make sure the tank is half full and the engine is switched on before you open the tank and pour the cleaner in it. Let the engine on for five minutes and you can switch off after that. You might have been getting engine service light on your dashboard for this problem.

If you have sludge in your fuel tank, you would be better served trying to find out what caused it - and then fully draining the tank - instead of running some fuel cleaner of dubious value. No point running that muck through your fuel lines and possibly causing even bigger problems.

I gave that advice because he has already changed all the materials that could be causing the sludge, apart from getting good quality engine oil, and perhaps buying Dangote petrol lol.

Good morning sirs please I need your help ooo My Lexus rx 330 is sucking fuel and also doesn’t fire sometimes when I accelerate on speed it doesn’t pick on time.

The rpm won’t pass 2000rpm after some delay it’ll just pickup immediately… idk what’s wrong, I’ve changed the plugs, coils, nuzzles, injectors mouth, fuel pump… yet there’s no changes. I bought o2 sensors too it didn’t stop I changed the brain box it didn’t stop….

The black smoke on my exhaust is very thick.

What can I do please! Should I just sell it ?

Yes, but if the 'sludged up' fuel is still in the tank and he pours in fuel cleaner and runs the mixture through his fuel lines, things are not likely to end well. A couple of years ago, the insides of my car's fuel tank rusted out after several years of use. The rust slowly mixed with sediment from fuel and a lot of other rubbish in the tank to form a muddy sludge that eventually killed the fuel pump.

The technicians had to drop the tank, empty it of all that muddy rubbish, wash it thoroughly - before reinstallation (with another fuel pump of course). I saw it all with my own two eyes. If they had run a fuel cleaner in the tank instead of carrying out the deep cleaning they did, it would have been of no use. It would probably have dissolved the sludge just enough to move it through the fuel lines to the injectors - to cause even more serious problems. I will upload the pictures one of these days if i can find them.

Sorry I just remembered how terrible Nigerian fuel quality is. This is what we do in UK where such terrible sludge does not occur in our fuel tanks. I have done this before to my diesel fuel tanks when engine fault sign was always on the dashboard. And it worked. The quality of the fuel we use in Nigeria is so low that it damages fuel tanks and the engine. No wonder I see people servicing their car quite often in Nigeria. I do that usually service my car in UK unless I have run over 20,000 miles, because the fuel quality is good. But I will not advise that high mileage before servicing in Nigeria. For the OP I think he might need to check his fuel tank to see if bad sludge is causing his car problem.

Correct. The fuel quality here is worse than terrible.

Funny that this thread has come up just as I am dealing with fuel headache from another vehicle that is actually on its second fuel pump assembly. Look at the terrible state it is in - picture taken just last week.

Change the entire engine. It is worn out. Happened to my bm and I kept repairing until it deteriorated.

Bro there is something called a Knock sensor. I’m 90% sure that small devil is the one stressing you. My car kept stalling and moving, couldn’t even climb culvert, let alone Lagos bridges. Did everything, until a third scan picked it up.

So far I'm sure u have spent close to 1m plus if not more and problem no solve. Sell the scrap jor. Scrap

First scan, then check the following

1. Check catalyst. It could be blocked. Scanners may not pick it
2. Check your air filter. It may be blocked (too dirty)
3. Is the nozzle spraying well and Your fuel pump working perfectly with enough strength!.
4. Check your timing chain. It could have missed a notch. It will still work but terribly

That means you need to get a new engine or work the engine... That is why the engine is no functioning well it will be complaining of different fault, when the rings have fault, and the engine is weak..
