Obi may not even get half of his votes in the coming election. His followers have done too much damage on his reputation and he is not even doing anything to caution them.

It's simple really.

By Independence, Ndigbó, Ndi Yoruba and Ndi Hausa (North) were neck and neck per importance and ruling the country.

While Awo was alive, he would brook no second place in an alliance to Northern politicians who he knew were nowhere near as literate or skilled administrators as him. Ndigbo were not so principled hence the doing boy boy to Northerners and still the pretence of being as important as the other two.

After Awo died, Ndi Yoruba politicians were able to reach out to Ndi North, and not just playing second fiddle like Ndigbo, but being the stronger hand in the alliance and sitting at the head of the top table (MKO, Obj and now President Tinubu).

Ndigbo pain, not all Ndigbo mind, is that they are no longer at the same level as Ndi Yoruba politically and can no longer be said to rub shoulders with or be as important as them. They are now effectively a minority tribe and it hurts.

It's like starting a job on the same grade as someone who then gets promoted and becomes your manager, as humans there will be a natural resentment

That is why Ndi Yoruba are hated by Obidients particularly. Like I said, simple really.
