Should I Marry In A Single Room? by Goodmarlian(op): 9:23am On Mar 13, 2025
I am starting to get myself together financially after 5 years of struggle. I recently rented an apartment, its a single room in a three storey building but it's downstairs, very spacious and I have to share toilet and bathroom with the security.I initially wanted to get an apartment in ikorodu or mowe ibafo but considering the nature of my job it would be too stressful for me.

It's cost me 400k to get the room and I plan furnishing it,getting a flat screen television and at least a sofa. I already have a big bed. I believe i will be able to do the rest this year by God's grace.

Getting accommodation in Lagos is too hard and I think planning to get another bigger apartment would take another two years Or more I am tired of plotting and planning again as time is going, we dey age everyday so I just want to stick with this one get settle down here and rather plan building my own house from here instead.

I have not hinted my girlfriend about the plan yet so I would like to hear advise from the more experienced people here.

Allow that your income to be stable at least for sometime you can even add another one, except sai you feel you have come of age but man nor de catch menopause, if you can wait till now you can still wait in two years time. Marriage is demanding nor look like that o

Why?

Space is really important in marriage. You can be easily bored sharing one single room with a lady as they can be sometimes frustrating/annoying

😂

Op, with the current economic situation, you need to have very solid plans of getting better than where you are now even if your woman agrees, because raising children no be beans oh.
Before you know you fit stay this one room for another 15years, except for divine intervention.

Like someone mentioned above already, if age is on your side, try balance in this your new financial level and if possible try getting better soonest, before settling.

God’s grace. 🙏

400k for a single roomhuh? Which area be that?

Bro, you shoulda worked on staying in some low brow area that cost less and use the extra to do some meaningful stuffs ....

U gas use street sense to spend your money o ... so, no go give yourself heart problem cos u wan impress ...

I'll personally advise u stay off marriage for now till you've sorted your financials cos adding another human to your bills isn't smart ....

Remember, ladies can be understanding but the understanding get "time limit" ... I love you the way u are doesn't mean "i want u to remain the way u are" ... Hope u get my drift??

Though, u can settle down inside your 1 room apartment but having to share toilet with someone elsehuh? Is a no - no for me ...

Its the cheapest way to contact toilet disease that will eventually make u spend on drugs ... that's counter productive ...

There’s nothing bad in it as long as you have your privacy but if you still share the toilet with the security guy run for your life 400k is too expensive for that nonsense
Re: Should I Marry In A Single Room? by ebenezary(m): 1:20pm On Mar 13, 2025
you should have come to mowe ibafo mostly Mowe is more lively and you can get self-con with that amount of money and now Express-road is more free from traffic unlike when the road is under construction. you really wast money for a single room without toilet and bathroom

Mandela once lived in single room.

Fact check my claim.

Where you're starting from is not an issue, but your goal, drive and your vision with right mindset.

Marrying in a room isn't bad. Afterall most millionaires today started their lives in a single room apartment. Your vision in life is what matters
Re: Should I Marry In A Single Room? by gulfer: 2:27pm On Mar 13, 2025
If the room is as big as you claim, you can divide with a curtain or screen so you or your partner can have a sort of privacy when you have visitors around shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

The IRONY of life is when those who were married are filing for divorce and are separating while those who are not married yet want to marry at all costs.....

Re: Should I Marry In A Single Room? by 10thTenthMan: 2:30pm On Mar 13, 2025
The question is not if you CAN.

Of course you can. You can do whatever you want as long as it isn’t illegal.

The main thing is Will the woman agree? WHICH WOMAN WILL AGREE TO GET MARRIED AND COME LIVE IN AN APARTMENT WHERE THE TOILET IS SHARED ?

That is the question.

If you find such a woman or of your girlfriend is looking beyond the inconvenience then verify that she isn’t desperate for some reason. If she isn’t desperate then she will be a keeper if she knows the challenges and chooses to stay with you, all other things being favorable.

Yes you can marry in a single room. Just don't have more than 10 children and you'll be fine.

This I have seen.
Re: Should I Marry In A Single Room? by phorget(m): 2:35pm On Mar 13, 2025
Bros abeg no marry o, level up some more before considering marriage.
Re: Should I Marry In A Single Room? by Useku(m):
Do not be in a hurry to marry while living in a room apartment,it's "desteezing".

Fight to be a bit more stable, get a 2br in a regular neighbourhood, get a car and then buy either half or full plot of land, put a foundation on it.

Never reason marriage,if u haven't settled urself.

You can be excused only if you are 35 already,if not, settle ursef first ,before marriage.

If nothing dey attractive about u in marriage, woman fit let u down anytime. But if all these dey in place any woman wey fuvk up,will be replaced immediately
