zendi:This statement is a big lie.The opec crashed price to shut down Shale oil production. And it was not oil price that took oando to ridiculous price. Why didn't other oil companies drop to such ridiculous price. It was wale bad management and over priced buy of assets that crashed oando. |

Streetinvestor2:Okay, immidiately after the Conoco Philip deal signing , oil price plummeted because of excess output through Shale boom. OPEC+ found itself locked in competition with Shale by alternating between production cuts to defend price and production boosting to defend market share. Oando price crashed because investors were spooked by the slow rate of debt repayment occasioned by the low oil prices. Go and ask Wale ![]() And mind you, Oando was the only upstream company on the market then so none to compare it with. NB/ let's go and sleep to resume tommorow. ![]() |

zendi:Make I help with some dates and info. Trump's first term was from 2017 to 2021. Seplat was listed in 2014 Oando was therefore not the only upstream company during Trump's first term. ConocoPhilips acquisition by oando was done in 2014. 3yrs before trump. Trump is innocent of all accusations |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 9:52am On Mar 18, 2025 |
zendi:If you care to know, the oil companies make their profits from their operations i.e. drilling and selling crude oil. That is the real deal. So ask yourself: did other oil companies (Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Total etc.) operating all over the world also make losses as a result of shale oil ? Of course, they made profits, even if not in large sums. Whether a company called Oando made profits or loss during that same period would depend on several other factors, not just because of shale oil. After all, the upstream companies in Nigeria also made profits, even though they were not listed on NSE. |

GeneralDae:Yes, break down of ceasefire. Resumption of Gaza hostilities. America-Houthi hostilities. All Bullish on oil prices, for only God knows how long. In one post in the last few days I described crude oil as the most fickle, therefore unpredictable commodity traded. commodity traded. If oil price sets out from Benin City for Auchi, it will be a miracle if something doesn't happen to divert it at Uromi to start heading to Onitsha thro Agbor. Which doesn't contradict my central argument that Trump is the most Oil Industry friendly President of recent American history. Also that barring all these unforseen developments, and in view America's recent Energy supremacy through Shale revolution, this new Trump era will be bearish on global oil price. Go and and ask Wale why in desperate search for a Refinery, having experienced Trump bear (oil) before. |

ositadima1:I can’t agree less. Beyond TA and FA, these two have very tangible reasons to advance. Dangcem cancelled the treasury shares they bought back, consequently reducing the OS which automatically improves their per share metrics instantly. This also means they will need less cash to pay the same dividend/share declared the last time, thereby positioning them for a higher dividend payout. This means if they decide to pay exactly the same amount of total dividend cash pay out announced recently, it will amount to more than the N30/share declared due to the reduced OS. Buacem actually had two new plants planned to have been commissioned last year, but for the unforeseen forex losses I guess. Now that there’s forex stability in the market, they just might at least announce the commissioning of one of the plants if not both. That should surely cause a massive rally if it happens. Its only a matter of time which could be sooner or later. |

zendi:Oando might want to build a refinery because it aligns with their business plan. Aradel also has a refinery. Oando had also shown interest in building an oil refinery since the mid/late 2000s, long before Trump contested to become US president. It is not something they just decided to have because of Trump. You may have good point but it baffles me how all you say is hinged on Oando's past performance or experience alone, without even mentioning other players in the industry to support your point. There was/is Seplat, Mobil, Total, Shell, Chevron, Texaco (now MRS) etc |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by zendi: 11:57am On Mar 18, 2025 |
PETERiCHY:Okay, this my remark is to the entire house. Thank God somebody who remembered the price history has spoken. The oil price crash did not affect only Oando. It equally affected Seplat. Therefore was not Wale's bad management according to Street. So what caused the price crash? The answer is simple, Oil Glut. But what caused the oil glut at that time.? That is the hanging question. The experience(s) of history help one to be prepared for the future. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by toyeoye(m): 11:59am On Mar 18, 2025 |
zendi:Looks green at close, but check the intraday moves. Yesterday AIICO opened and closed at ₦1.60, but dipped to ₦1.55 during the session. Not every green stock is ‘moving’, sometimes, it’s just holding steady. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 12:04pm On Mar 18, 2025 |
zendi:Oil glut and crash in price usually happens when there is relative peace in global geopolitics. Right now, both the Middle East (Israel, Iran, Syria, Yemen) and eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine) are very unstable and volatile. Venezuela is also not very stable. Hence, it may take sometime for oil price to crash drastically. And Trump's attitude and temperament may even trigger more conflicts and make things worse! |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 12:23pm On Mar 18, 2025 |
zendi:I don't remember when those stocks traded at that price. He should tell us the year and let check oil price then. And if is 20 yrs ago.what was energy demand then and energy demand now that you believe oil price will go back to such price |
