A bank borrowing at 21% as per the most recent commercial paper doesn’t look good to me, and I believe many investors would share the same sentiment. Returns would go to debt holders rather than shareholders. Comparing this to the dividend yield makes it look worse.
For Banking stocks worst case scenario basis for F. dividend using Access as a case study.

Worst case
Since their new OS has increased by about 50%, it's ideal their Final dividend
"Just might" be discounted by same amount depending on what each investors expect as the payout amount assuming the old OS.

Assuming a payout of ₦3 (on old OS).
Access just might payout ₦3/1.5=> ₦2

Assuming a payout of ₦5(old Os)
Access just might Pay ₦3.3

Assuming a payout of ₦2(old Os)
Access just might pay ₦1.3

Remember "just might"..
Pure speculative thoughts.

Thank God that Fubara is not a woman. If not, by now he would have accused Nyesom Wike of Sexual Harassment, and even gone to United Nations to report that he was suspended from being Governor of Rivers State, because he accused Nyesom Wike of Sexual Harassment.
huh huh huh

Nigeria’s case just be like that little pikin wey wan wear new shirt hin mama buy for am without cleaning the shit wey dem hin yansh komot.
We are yet to have a leader/govt that is ready to handle an entity like NNPC with an iron hand. For a country that relies on Oil as its major source of revenue as compared with other state-owned entities, it is appaling.

Regarding politics in this forum, I believe we need to approach delicate matters that constructively affect the stock market. What I and I believe others in this forum, will not tolerate is insulting one another or turning this space into tribal warfare.

Refrain from such acts and let peace prevail. Don't let a sudden rush of blood to the head destroy the cordial relationships we've built in this forum over the years.

Ultimately, governing Nigeria resembles a relay race. While we may have our preferred leader, the ultimate goal should always be to strive for the collective aim of a better country for everyone.

Happy Investing to you all AND GOD BLESS NIGERIA 🇳🇬

It is possible that banks who have increased OS might use time weighted average OS to compute their EPS, just like what UCAP did.

Please borrowing is not a problem, the problem is what you do with the borrowed money!
Unlike naija gov't, one thinks that ACCESS bank knows what to do with borrowed funds!! cool

Why private placement again when the public offer was oversubscribed? Why not a rights issue so that all shareholders would have equal opportunity to buy the shares?
This is one of the controversies rocking FBN because people allege that Otedola wants to use the private placement as back door to acquire more stake in the bank to the exclusion of other stakeholders

@Sean.

Before anything, ask yourself this question:
Am I a trader or an investor or a mix of both?

It will surely guide your learning and decision... ✌🏽

Some guide:
1. start developing interest in financial and stock market news about sectors in the economy, listed companies etc.
2. have it in your mind that the stocks market is a long term project; it is not a cash and carry thing. it is not kalokalo
3. start gradually, first with funds that you can afford to set aside for long period or you can afford to lose, (in the worst case scenario)
4. as you gather experience and build confidence, you can go for bigger funds and invest in your choice of stocks
5. the stocks market is dynamic; it does not move upward or downward or in a straight line for ever. It responds to news, events and performance of the company; hence you have to monitor your investment portfolio and news/events that may affect it.
6. as you build your portfolio, you may to decide which stocks you buy (and at what price) for speculative trading, and the ones you buy and hold as investment into the future (e.g. for receiving consistent dividends when you retirement etc.), or both
7. there are many more which I may not be able to say for now. Fortunately enough, there are expert gurus on this platform. Just follow their discussions regularly; you will learn and know more and better than myself.
8. best of luck
