Yellow house close to green house undecided

House music is house music regardless it's variation
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op):
Jeez! No need to be sarcastic... If you don't know, just say it...🤦🤦🤦

There's Afro house, soulful deep house, and deep house... And the song doesn't sound like any of the three.

So I'm curious.

Honestly, at first I thought it wasn't a Nigerian song, until he started singing in Igbo. cheesy
The sound is strange and unusual.
Saw people's comments from other parts of Africa. They seem to like the strange song. 😀
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 3:53pm On Apr 06, 2025
I'm currently debating with someone over the genre of the song, but then I realised why should I be arguing with my fellow South African over a Nigerian song when I'm on a Nigerian forum? I think I know one genre that would perfectly suite this song, but I want to hear the opinion of you guys first.

Maybe there's a new Nigerian genre of music that we do not know about.

This one is definitely a new one because it sounds unusual, and badly produced if I might add. undecided

Interesting, how is it badly produced?

The sound is all over the place. Not well put together.

In music, what catches my attention first is the melody, before the lyrics.
If the sound is bad, I won't even bother listening to the words.

That sound has got a specific genre here in SA and it's definitely not amapiano... I immediately picked it up from the first time I heard it, but the problem is that it's a Nigerian song and the genre I'm talking about is not popular, I'm very sure that no Nigerian has ever heard of it... Even if they heard the music from it before, they wouldn't know which genre it is.

So I want clarity because I don't want to be misclassifying other people's songs.

Then, the explanation would be that he did a Nigerian song on a foreign sound, because the sound is not familiar around here.
Maybe he's trying to create a unique sound for himself, to set him apart.

I can sometimes identify some artistes by their sound.

Afrobeat
Just that he has a unique voice

So every song in Nigeria that is not gospel is now Afrobeat?🤔🤔🤔

What's Afrobeat about it? There's nothing wrong with his voice, it sounds just like that of a typical Nigerian.

Going by the beat I will say it's a blend of afrobeats, R&b/soul not House

I wouldn't say I know about notes arrangement, but I recognize sounds more when put together.

Are you saying you're crazy about it? cheesy

The sound is okay. Well put together.

Is there a particular Nigerian music you like?
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 7:10pm On Apr 06, 2025
I'm asking if there's no similarities between this beat and the Nigerian one.

Like I just wanna know if there's a specific genre for that song, or it's just a Nigerian song with no particular genre?

And if it's an Afrobeat, the what kind of an Afrobeat? Because those beats sound nothing like Afrobeat.

Aunty I didnt say anything is wrong with his voice. Dont ask questions for peoples opinions of something on a public forum then start criticising them. It's bad manners.

No.
To me, it sounds more like South African music.

Google misclassifies genres all the time and is every song that is not gospel in Nigeria Afrobeat? Just yesterday, it told me barcadi music is amapiano...🤦🤦🤦

You guys also classify your amapiano as Afrobeat when there's nothing about it that is Afrobeat.

That sound is not Afrobeat, I've been exposed to that type of a sound since I was a child, before even amapiano became a thing and I know it... You can't just classify something as Afrobeat simply because the artist is a Nigerian.

There's nothing wrong if he got inspiration from SA.
Nijimog:
love this beat

Nice one maybe afrobeats
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 8:19pm On Apr 06, 2025
Those beats sound like South Africa's lekompo beats... The genre is not big, but it's very popular in Limpopo, where I'm from, it's far more popular than amapiano there.

So until someone tells me which genre of music is this, I'm classifying it under lekompo music as a South African Limpopian...😅😅😅... The only thing missing is a Sepedi verse in the song... Sorry to all Nigerians that might have issues with it... grin grin grin
Mariangeles:
