GeneralDae:
In real dollar terms it is now slightly up if you use 750/$ as at May 2023.

NGX market cap as at May 2023 - 28 trillion naira (37.3 Billion USD)

NGX market cap as at May 2025 - 70 trillion naira (43.75 Billion USD).
Why did you choose 750 and not present reality of 1600

Lol. When Tinubu took over, the rate was 465/$ not 750.
See below our seplat dividend exchange rate at the time.
Even Tinubu knows that his regime has been terrible. He and Buhari should compete for the worse economy managers.

The guy is super marketer. He almost made me consider police bank for jijo but I no agree because I hate anything to do with police.
I come dey like his idea of less os for any company for jijo.I have pencilled down two because it is easy for him to manipulate such stock.
Note:Never a dead company. Mostly companies that are about to turn around for good.
Because it easy for him to manipulate lipsrsealed undecided

I really wouldn't have made any comment again. Because you have said it all and i quote "Let me talk like one of JAGABAN praise singers". So which just goes to to imply that you are just jiving and catching cruise. If you convert the so called gains made on NGX in dollar terms we are actually retrogressing. But, all the same we move. Any movement is a movement so far you are not stagnant. grin grin grin
In terms of total market cap, we have only retrogressed if we use the official exchange rate set by Emiefele’s crawling peg of 450 naira/USD as at May 2023.

NGX market cap (as at May 2023) - 28 trillion naira (62 Billion USD) using 450 naira/USD

NGX market cap (as at May 2025) - 70 trillion naira (43.75 Billion USD) using 1600 naira/ USD

However, if we use 750 naira/USD for May 2023, we have actually still gained in USD terms from 37.3 Billion USD in May 2023 to 43.75 Billion USD in May 2025.

Because companies use the rate set by CBN but that rate was not real because even big businesses were struggling to get it at 465 which is the reason the backlogs continued to pile.

I know. CBN rate/Official rate, same thing. I am just saying companies would only quote the official rate. Whether or not that rate was increasingly becoming accessible or less accessible is another thing.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by fashionnisir(f):
Nigeria's public debt is projected to surpass N180 trillion after President Bola Tinubu's request to the National Assembly for an additional N34.15 trillion in external and domestic loans. Here's a breakdown of the loan request ¹ ²:
- *External Borrowing*: $21.543 billion (approximately N33.39 trillion at N1,590 per dollar), €2.193 billion, and 15 billion Japanese Yen, plus a €65 million grant. These funds will target key sectors such as:
- *Infrastructure*: railways and nationwide development programs
- *Agriculture*: to enhance food security
- *Health*: critical healthcare projects
- *Education*: nationwide development programs
- *Security and Employment Generation*: to promote skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and job creation

- *Domestic Bond Issuance*: N757.983 billion to settle outstanding pension liabilities under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). This aims to:
- Improve retirees' welfare
- Boost confidence in the pension system
- Inject liquidity into the economy

The Tinubu administration argues that this borrowing plan is crucial to address the country's significant infrastructure deficit and revenue challenges. However, critics warn that the additional foreign-denominated debt may amplify currency and refinancing risks, potentially pushing Nigeria into a debt trap

Stop spreading dumb news, what is the source of the information where the president asked for that loan. It's lie n unfounded.

It's the limit of what Nigeria can borrow over the next two years and not what they are about to borrow, stop spreading non€sens§.
