I have over 13,000 matured cassava stands presently in Owo, Ondo state. Not TME419 variety though. I don't want to sell the tubers, I would prefer turning it to Garri as that will generate more profit. Funds for setting up a a garri processing factory is my biggest challenge now. I have tried getting soft loan from Wema, Jaiz bank and none went through. I'm supposed to start harvesting by first week of July. I'm even open for partnership |

EduBrazil1991:Chief, stop giving yourself unnecessary headache over loan or partnership. 13k stands, that should be less than 3 acres. That's too small to be looking for loan/partnership to set up a factory. The returns will be too small compared to the cost of setting up a factory. You can only proceed with the factory project if you hav money of your own. Instead of giving yourself sleepless night over loan acquisition or partnership stress, I will advise you sell the raw tuber for now or engage some locals to help with the processing into garri. There are some centres where those locals will grind, peel and fry for you. Then, use the proceeds to expand gradually by getting some basic machines/equipment little by little. By the time you process and sell the produce from the 2nd batch, you should be able to hav funds to set up a mini mechanized cassava factory. I was a bit familiar with that town in those days. Matna foods is there to buy tubers. I also know some local markets for both tuber and garri as people used to come from within and outside the state for patronage. |
