The question is... Is there a woman that doesn't lie ? Even as religious as they claim to be, they still lie at will. Even the older ones inclusive. They actually don't see anything wrong in it, they just do it if they have something to gain or just to save them from trouble.

Why can't she tell him that she's at the market! You call it a single lie but if you look at the big picture, you'll know that the man dodged a bullet.
Going to the market is not a bad thing. No one will castigate you for that. Then why lie? It's because lies have become a habit to her. Now, if she can lie for small things as going to the market, what will she do when push comes to shove?

She could have done so out of respect to his fiance. Not all lies is bad. Some is for the good of the union

My friend has taken his wife off all documents as next of kin, his reason is thag she doesn't pick her calls, she is home all day he has 24hrs light because he uses solar yet, he can't reach her. A day will come and something unfortunate will happen and his next of kin would not be reachable jusy because of that careless behavior. His next of kin is my humble self, even on his drivers license. He trust me take a call and do the needful not matter the corner of the globe i am, I roam.

Trust is underrated. many marriages have crashed due to issues like this. If the man goes ahead with the wedding he is going to be second guessing everything she says or does probably for the rest of his life
