There is no "new entity acquiring Ellah".. Ellah is looking to ACQUIRE an entity and it's not even a rumour except a name is being mentioned on the streets. Chuka already announced on live TV (Arise) that an M&A was cooking. He said he will release the news on the NGX first when the interviewer pleaded for the news to be released via Arise TV.

But why are people so heartless?
What they won't do with their own personal business, they will be doing it with public investments.
Who borrows money with the aim of paying back with an estimated revenue growth if not a fuuul.
You write out a budget for the year with a $21b deficit with the aim of borrowing to cover it. A borrowed fund at the benchmark of $75 per barrel. Why not use $50 to be on the safe side. And these guys have technocrats among them and guys who studied in abroad oo.
Expensive business schools and universities.
Currently, 300,000 barrels per day out of the 1.5m per day we are pumping is already used to take loans and servicing it and you will be surprised even the 1.2m barrels remaining is been using to service other sources of loans that are not crude oil backed.
You have a $21b deficit you want to borrow money for, what about next year's budget? 2027 budget? and others? you keep borrowing?
What happens to living within your income or that only apply to the poor and low class employees?
Reduce cost of governance, trim down senators, house of assembly people and so on. Reduce budget of many sectors etc or we only talk about poor men living within their means?
My advice is for people to just diversify a fraction of their investment to dollars investment because by the time these people's actions will start biting hard into the economy, they will gladly be devaluing the naira just to pay salaries and you won't want to get caught up in that mess.
When the president sent the budget to National Assembly. He told them to use $65 (or $60..not sure rn), the National Assembly guys jacked it up to $75 and inserted their own constituency projects.
What do you want the president to do? Don’t forget the power of appropriation is with the Assembly. They can even draw up a budget and pass anything they want without the president’s permission or approval.
The reality is unfortunate, but a president has to choose his fight. Fight them too hard and they’ll turn against you and even impeach you.

I'm not seeking validation from you, given your lack of basic life etiquette. I've never asked for your opinion on my posts, and your responses suggest you're stuck in a rut. My previous post aimed to share my success story, where the market has been extremely rewarding, in the hopes that it might help you. Specifically, I wanted to illustrate how compounding can transform a portfolio from negative to positive, not to reveal my investment strategy or invite you to NYSE. The key takeaway is the power of, humility, patience and time in investing, as evidenced by the deleted screenshots.
No validation given from here bro, you are explaining things no one asked you for. I only made an observation I noticed, you were calling out someone for a 40-50% prediction. Since you are unable to remember 2 or 3 years ago, I will remind you. You got on here and made a prediction that Transcorp will skyrocket by 9,000%, I told you to calm down and that angered you to the point of leaving Nairaland after spewing your vitriol, yes, you did that!

I was just observing the change in your tone, nothing more. I do not want you or your portfolio to teach me anything. Allow me to remain stuck in "my rut" whatever that means.

Abeg bros, I have a question and I want you to answer based on your experience.

How much would I need to invest in NGX to have a ₦1,000,000,000 portfolio in 11 years abeg? Lets assume I was able to beat the market by 20% annually.

Just rough estimates is fine. I want to check something

Answer from AI...

Final Answer:
You would need to invest approximately ₦43,230,000 today in the NGX, growing at 32% annually, to reach ₦1,000,000,000 in 11 years.

Key Notes:
32% annual return is extremely aggressive—very few investors consistently achieve this.

Inflation & risks are not accounted for—real returns may differ.

Diversification & reinvestment of dividends could impact results.

Past performance ≠ future returns—NGX volatility can affect outcomes.

The key here is outperforming the market by 20%. The market is assumed by the tool to grow 12% annually. which makes it 32% annually .

To determine how much you need to invest today in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) to grow your portfolio to ₦1,000,000,000 (1 billion naira) in 11 years, assuming you outperform the market by 20% annually, we can use the future value formula for compound interest:
Formula:
FV=PV×(1+r)nFV=PV×(1+r)n
Where:
• FVFV = Future Value (₦1,000,000,000)
• PVPV = Present Value (Initial Investment)
• rr = Annual return rate (market return + 20% outperformance)
• nn = Number of years (11)

Step 1: Determine the Expected Annual Return
• The average annual return of the NGX (market return) is historically around 10-15% (we'll use 12% for this calculation).
• You assume 20% outperformance, so your total expected annual return (rr) is:
r=12%+20%=32%=0.32r=12%+20%=32%=0.32

Step 2: Plug into the Formula
1,000,000,000=PV×(1+0.32)111,000,000,000=PV×(1+0.32)11
Step 3: Solve for PVPV
PV=1,000,000,000(1.32)11PV=(1.32)111,000,000,000
First, calculate (1.32)11(1.32)11:
• Using a calculator: (1.32)11≈23.13(1.32)11≈23.13

Now, compute PVPV:
PV=1,000,000,00023.13≈∗∗₦43,230,000∗∗(rounded)PV=23.131,000,000,000≈∗∗₦43,230,000∗∗(rounded)
Final Answer:
You would need to invest approximately ₦43,230,000 today in the NGX, growing at 32% annually, to reach ₦1,000,000,000 in 11 years.

Key Notes:
1. 32% annual return is extremely aggressive—very few investors consistently achieve this.
2. Inflation & risks are not accounted for—real returns may differ.
3. Diversification & reinvestment of dividends could impact results.
4. Past performance ≠ future returns—NGX volatility can affect outcomes.
