The Disciplined Trader by Mark Douglas, broken down into key chapters: Chapter 1: Why I Wrote This Book Mark Douglas introduces the book, highlighting the disparity in success between traders. He emphasizes the importance of mental discipline, self-discipline, emotional control, and adaptability in achieving consistent profitability. Chapter 2: Why a New Thinking Methodology? Douglas discusses how traditional values and beliefs can hinder success in trading. He highlights the need for a different thought methodology suited for the trading environment, where adapting to market dynamics is crucial. Chapter 3: The Market Is Always Right This chapter focuses on the unique psychological challenges traders face. Douglas emphasizes that the market reflects the collective beliefs of all active traders, and traders must consider these collective actions to make informed decisions. Chapter 5: Prices Are in Perpetual Motion with No Defined Beginning or Ending Douglas explores market dynamics, highlighting the continuous motion of prices. He discusses the psychological challenges traders face, including greed, loss, and the illusion of control. Chapter 7: In the Market Environment, Reasons Are Irrelevant Traders often believe understanding reasons behind market movements is crucial. However, Douglas argues that in trading, the reasons are irrelevant; what matters is the price movement and market sentiment. Chapter 8: The Three Stages to Becoming a Successful Trader This chapter outlines the three essential stages to becoming a successful trader ¹ ²: - Stage 1: Understanding Perceptions* - Traders must understand that their perceptions shape their experiences. - Stage 2: Developing Mental Flexibility* - Traders need to adapt to market changes and remain objective. - Stage 3: Perceiving Opportunity and Executing Trades - Successful trading relies on identifying opportunities and executing trades confidently. Chapter 9: Understanding the Nature of the Mental Environment Douglas delves into the mental environment, discussing its components, including positively and negatively charged emotions, illusions, beliefs, and expectations. Understanding these components is essential for successful trading. Chapter 16: The Steps to Success This chapter emphasizes the importance of self-discipline, adaptation, and continuous learning in trading. Traders must develop a structured approach to address psychological injuries and improve mental adaptability. Chapter 17: Final Note The final chapter underscores the importance of self-trust, valuation, and positive self-regard in achieving financial success. Douglas encourages traders to focus on continuous learning and personal development. *Key Takeaways* - Trading Psychology: Trading is primarily a psychological endeavor, and mastering one's psychology is crucial for success. - Probabilistic Mindset: Developing a probabilistic mindset is essential for consistent trading. - Emotional Control: Emotions significantly impact trading decisions; learning to manage them is vital. - Discipline and Consistency: Consistency in approach and execution is key to trading success. - Self-Trust and Responsibility: Building self-trust and taking responsibility for trading outcomes are essential for growth and improvement .

Locotrader:Loco I have been expecting you to write this kind of thesis on Chams too, you marketed for us to buy and theirs was even worst in the sense that while others try to push price up before releasing information for share dilution they moved straight with right issue info and made the release date same as qualification date meaning they don't want investors to rush in to qualify which may have helped the price. Thank God I reduced my exposure by 50% before the nonsense right issue information came out because the nosedive in price of the Chams stock fish since then no be here. Who wan buy right issue at #1.70 for a non-dividend paying stock that is already selling at #2. You told us to expect a big news that will move Chams and the big news is drowning the price instead. |

Valthegreat:The mistake I made in Chams is advertising a stock of low revenue. I learnt a new lesson from Heisime about low profit margin. If a stock can generate a higher revenue and make a loss,it's understandable.Something must cause the loss like the case of Dangote sugar and international Brew. When they get it right, the share price will rise. I am sorry I have made a u-turn in Chams for now.The shares outstanding has risen to above 7B and we are yet to witness a higher revenue let alone a high profit margin. All the businesses they handle is by contracts. They are left with peanuts when the superiors collect their lion shares.Nothing is left for shareholders to enjoy. I have chams and I am not planning to offload now because the bull is about to touch some stocks.it might be opportune to move up as ASI is expected to hit 130,000 by year end.A time we are expecting market men and women to have interest in stocks is drawing closer but not in 2025. Mr president is fighting re election in 2027.I will not be surprise to see ASI touch 150k during election campaigns in 2026. |

Except for very few who are honest. Don’t trust anyone here. It has always been about making money. Some want you to sell so they can buy cheap. Others want you to buy so they can exit. Discern everything you read and every decision you make. |

If you have a 3 ton per hour palm Oil mill at N1.5 million per ton of palm Oil why would you need to raise capital. |

Locotrader:You have been forgiven at least for accepting that you are a human that can make mistakes. But now that you are marketing C I Leasing what's the difference between them and Chams because from my little check it is also a low revenue company. From last unaudited result PAT was about 728m while OS is around 3B. Should they distribute PAT 100% it will go around 0.24 per share. Please where do you see more value that will grow their revenue going forward because leasing business has always been a low revenue business? |

Valthegreat:Cileasing is not a low revenue company. They have their shareholders in mind hence they depend on leveraging issueing commercial papers than raising funds via right issue or private placement. Judging by the last result which is unaudited 2024,they made a revenue of 37B which is almost 100% from the prior year. They would have make a good profit if not redemption of commercial paper they issued sometime in 2024.I still believe they can still pay dividend if they want even if it is 5kobo to shareholders. The company assets has risen to 113B in 2024.The 2 foreign subsidiaries are positioned to make money in the leasing and marine industries. In Nigeria, the presidents CNG initiatives are looking favourable to them because of the sector they operate. I am anticipating a 100% revenue increase for CIleasing and a good profit margin in Q1 2025 which is about to be released. Cileasing is not a low revenue company and I also believe their profit margins will increase in all the quarters in 2025.Economy is improving.Multinarional companies depend on leasing than outright .In the leasing industry in Nigeria, Cileasing is number one.Leasing and marine industries contributed immensely to the growth of Nigerian economy in Q1 2025.More are to be seen as the year advances |

PuristForest:What Joy do Linkage derive issue bonus shares unnecessarily. They did 1 for 5 bonus two years ago and now another bonus. Insurance Companies are raising funds to meet capitalization. Will this bonus stop them from raising funds in the near future? Some companies are not afraid of bloated shares. It is dilutions and not good to shareholders in dividend payments |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 2:59pm On Jun 21, 2025 |
Companies I will value their bonus issuance at this time are okomu,Nestle and presco. The stock prices are high and need dilutions to bring the price down.Even if you look at them, they have less outstanding shares.Issueing bonus shares are good for them. Not a penny stock with already bloated shares issueing a bonus shares to shareholders. The price may go up as a result of the action but will certainly go down even below the original(old) price. Regency gave their bonus and share price rallied and later came down to square one.Even till now Naicom has not approved the bonus.whats the need? |

That's what could happen once they become profitable. Commercial papers are not free sir. They come with interest. Salt and pepper are not the only seasoning in the market…..deep thinkers will always go further. I appreciate your response in English. Made rebuttal a lot easier. Thank you 🙏 |

Whenever I glance at this stock(LIVING TRUST MORTGAGE BANK plc) in my portfolio, I'm reminded of the potential backlash Locotrader might face from the community. I recall Locotrader promoting this stock on the platform around 2022/2023, although I personally acquired it in 2021. Currently, I'm sitting on a remarkable 745% ROI. If Locotrader had held onto this stock, he might be well on his way to joining the ranks of stock market billionaires. In hindsight, I think Locotrader could benefit from reading classic investment books and listening to educational audiotapes. These resources have been invaluable in helping me manage my emotions and impulses during my investment journey. fashionnisir: |
