Damn...when you see a banny typing this much nonsense online about her age or single status, you know the point of loneliness has hit home.

They become relationship counselors and starting saying 'babes' upandan.

Premium painment.

Ladies, when dusty Nairaland uncles call you 'expired' at 25, remember: Their opinions expired with Nokia 3310s! 💅🏽 A 43-year-old man sleeping in his office can't dictate your worth.

Real queens build empires (like becoming chess grandmasters!), invest in self-care, and NEVER beg for transport money. Your 'evening newspaper' era? That's when the best headlines drop. 👑 #AgeIsJustABookmark

Your opinion is rather subjective, I will have to respect it though I beg to differ.

The age gap between I and my wife is roughly 3 years and I married her in her 30's and I was also in my mid 30's when I married her.

I married her because I loved her and saw her very attractive every inch as a woman, I didn't marry her because I was broke or couldn't handle the demands that comes with taking care of a way younger woman in her 20s.
I for one , I prefer women who are above 25 to around 40. I flow with them easily because they don't stress me with the need for me to give them attention unnecessarily.

Make I gist you small , as a married man I decided to experiment with one genZ banny going to 6 months now, she is 23 years.

My motive is just to have a feel of the difference when it comes to the level of maturity and psyche of women in their 20's and 30's and I must tell you, I am not impressed yet. Older women still rock.

I still dey with the banny as her sugar daddy but I am using her as a case study without her even knowing. I don't even crave sex with her, just studying her based on the age stereotype when it comes to maturity in women.
Egbon keep studying her well, insha Allah na your second new wife she be. It will end in knacking and praise grin

my guy at 39 married his wife of age 24. If you see their healthy children. And the girl still fresh and young after 3 kids. She's just 29+ now

Who no like better thing.

The other guy go marry woman of 35 years, two of his kids are autistic now. They are in the spectrum seriously. So sad embarassed

Myself I don't want 30+ years old ladies to be pressured, I feel their pains. they don't need to be because no body send them grin. Nothing for them out there. The younger ladies are the one's taken mostly so I agree with the OP

Medically speaking, young women in their 20s are ALSO giving birth to autistic children, so, it's NOT set in stone that because a woman is over 30 years of age, she would give birth to an autistic child.

However, there are ways of detecting if fetuses have genetic defects such as autism and you can choose to terminate the fetuses before 3 months elapse. The other option is to do a pre-selection of viable females eggs and fertilize them and then select the ones that have NO genetic defects before implantation into the womb of the mother. It's however costly to do BUT it's worth it.

That's why most women especially newly married want a son rather than daughters.

If you're 30+ what you should do is make yourself marriageable like you tightly said

They should invest in knowledge and how to fatten their purse.
Not depending on men to give them money...hard for most Nigerian ladies.

Ladies if you get nothing going on for yourself it'll be hard to see any man to take you serious.

Truth be told a 30+ lady is at a disadvantage because of the biological clock of women.

Our women should learn how to earn their own coins
What source of data did you use to conclude that there are more women than men in Nigeria? Can you provide the link to the source?

I have always maintained my stand that the best age range to marry a lady is from 27 years and above, that is the age Nigerian ladies becomes valuable and more reasonable.

Marrying girls below 25 years is a risk, only uninformed young men embark on such high risk journey.

Unless you are already married and financially buoyant and looking to marry a second wife just for paparazzi, then you can go for girls between the age of 19 years to 25 years and you should be prepared that they won't bring any form of value.

To the op, focus on your goal of finding a worthy partner, don't let nl forum rants distract you or affect your emotion, most times our opinion on relationship matters online are far different from the reality on ground.

Check male to female ratio on Wikipedia.

Look at the circumstances they used in arriving at the ratio.

Nigeria is under siege except we pretend not to know.

War criteria: Check the ratio of male to female killed by bokoharam bandits and herdmen.

Even in the police army and Navy men dey die there steady.

What about cultism and crime in all of these for every woman killed 100 men go don go.

Economic index men are likely to die try to provide bread for their families and most do except we want to bury our head in the sand.

Check your location for every pregnancy which one then dey born pass more female...although this will varies depending on location.

Also female tends to live longer than men because they are the home keeper and men dey hustle for them steady.

This is not about cencus it's about common sense abi that one no be him sure pass.

There has never been any census in Nigeria it's all jamboree aka white elephant projects.

All these criteria I've mentioned are things we can all see.

This is things about human beings they don't want to think for themselves.

I've shown how Wikipedia arrived at male/female ratio you apply all these to your own culture you still want a cencus.

When will people start thinking for themselves rather than allow AI or data from foreigners.

There's no different between a human and a pig if the human refuse to think for himself...IV galatus

I am a man. I admit that the men you refer to are irrational, arrogant and stupid.

But your write up doesn't portray you as someone better than those men. In all you wrote, you didn't mention any mistakes you have made in your relationships with men. Are you indirectly saying you are perfect? Is there nothing you have done and won't encourage your fellow women to do?

Maybe you are married. Maybe you are single by choice. What about your fellow women who have crossed the age of 30 and are still single because they mistakenly or stupidly rejected good men? How does your post address their situations? Does your post try to save younger females from making those mistakes? Or, are you claiming that no single lady regrets being single? Are you saying that marriage is not necessary for any above-thirty-and-single lady? Even if marriage is not for everyone, is being single good for everyone?

No gender is better than the other. Every gender has good and bad people. In your case, I think you are just a female version of the men you condemn. Your writeup does not teach women how to be good. Your writeup only encourages women to be comfortable with being single for lifetime.
very good reply, many will just blindly put out post without fully grasping the situation. They will use their situation to define every other person. Because u are happy being single at 30 doesn't apply to every other person. Same way the evening newspaper stuff doesnt apply to every 30year old lady. I have seen many still get good husband at that age.

It's not enough to say because men are exposed to risks therefore they are lesser in population. Women are also dying. The only credible evidence you can use to back up your claim is an authentic census.

This one is for the babes who are starting to question their worth because of what they see online. I turn 30 next Sunday, so I believe I’m in a good place to write this, not from a place of fear, but from experience and sense.

Over the last few months, I’ve seen some wild comments from men on Nairaland. Things like “after 7”, “evening newspaper”, “depleted ovaries”… you name it. But let me tell you: that’s not on you. That’s on them.

If you're feeling down because of these words, pause and breathe. grin grin. These men; the ones who use these terms. I’ve studied them. Yes, I went through their old posts. The youngest among them is about 43. 😂 Imagine a 43-year-old man online calling women expired. God forbid my own future husband is wasting his time typing such rubbish on a forum.
One even replied me once saying I should "rest". This is someone struggling to pay N150k school fees for his 8-year-old child and rent somewhere in the bush in Ikorodu. 😭 Another one, sleeping in the office Monday to Friday because transport to Ajah will eat his entire salary. We already had our third degree by 23 but one man from Ogbomosho thinks he would be doing me a favour by marrying me. These same people shouting “in saner climes” but the only airport they have seen is from watching James Bond movies. 😭😭😭

And these are the same ones screaming "I can't marry a 25+ year old, they’re too old." At 40+? You’re not even ashamed. Ato ole.

Ladies, these are the ones calling you evening newspaper. Do you now see that it has nothing to do with you? If you’re here and you’re worried about these people, don’t be.
This message is not for the real men who respect women and are just struggling financially. My message for you is: it’ll be okay soon, amen.

Now for the rest of us baby girls 👸🏽:
There’s a flawed logic these same men like to push. This idea of "100 women to 1 man". It’s a lie. Statistically, there are more men than women in Nigeria and in the world. You can Google it. They just use that flawed stat to make women feel desperate.

I saw a thread the other day. One Nairaland uncle asking for advice on dating an 18-year-old. By page 2, he had mentioned giving money to her mother.

3. Look younger, stay fresh.

Don’t settle because some man with a “Akungba university 1984” ID is calling you names online. 😭
Look at Asa Asika. Look at Davido. Look at Toolz and Tunde. Real rich kids marry close in age because they’re not looking for desperation, they’re looking for a match.

The facts that you play chess make me even like you the more. Even as a man when I see some post in this forum it's just sad. So many frustrated people in this forum.

So we still have ladies who feel bad about the evening newspaper tag? H0w many black guys are good enough for marriage? Do single ladies listen to the billions of sad tales from married women? A good percentage of married woman are frustrated, very few are happy. If you can't find a husband that has the qualities you desire, then go ahead and have children (adopt) and live a single fulfilled life, it's far better than getting tied with a u$eless husband in the name of marriage.

Unmarried at 30 means you have survived 30 years on this planet. That life is something to grateful for. Many do not live long enough.

As much as I want a home I find this stereotype annoying. I've always disliked the name calling and the constant hounding of "when are you getting married?" Even as a man, I find it annoying to say the least. Life happens to everyone, some get it right without going through stressful events, others get it right after getting broken severally while some will never get it right. No one should get a tag just because they're yet to get married, it's childish and stupid.

Taquin,

Please what is the name of the newspaper that had the caption? So the term "evening newspaper" has been used here as far back as 2006? shocked shocked

To the rest of your post, you are largely correct, as most of the people who make these senseless comments, ditto those with poor economic reasoning, don't cut it. They look very impoverished and haggard. I have gone through pictures and profiles on Facebook and did not bother to reply to comments. It is unfortunate that our people aren't using the Internet to their advantage to learn better content, learn how to comprehend passages better, write legibly and intelligently, construct arguments better, etc. Many Nigerians are lettered illiterates.

However, the issue with marrying late is simply biological on the woman's side. IVF is damn expensive in everywhere part of the world. The younger a woman is, the better her chances of childbearing, including instances where she could not give birth early enough or had miscarriages. That is a biological fact that many women in your shoes have to come to terms with. The solutions, as you listed, are eating well, drinking water and performing consistent exercises. The other solution is to have fewer children, so rather than three or four, maximum of two does it.

And oh yes! Humans these days marry their kind, so don't bother yourself with the rants on many public pages. You would most likely never meet them physically. Your paths won't cross whatsoever, not even in churches.

Calling unmarried women names like "evening newspaper" and the rest is a direct response to how Nigerian ladies see men who are broke and struggling. Before now, Nigerian men would absorb all the insults and disrespect ladies throw at them for being broke but not anymore! They have chosen to return insults for insults and as usual, ladies are the ones crying.

We die here! Let no gender cry for sympathy!
Largely true as well. Women started this and now complain that men are revolting.

Men have told you the reason why they prefer under 30 years ladies. Even science supports their claim. The same way women seek men for money, men seek women for their youth because of fertility. Ladies go back to your friendzoned list. It's not always greener on the other side. you are not perfect and the guys in your list are not perfect as well so find the guy that is goal driven and hold on to him.

Men are the ones who decide marriage yet you are saying they have outdated mindset. That's like a trader shaming customers for what they want. Men get more attractive later in life because they acquire experience and assets that benefits the family, women are attractive in their younger adult stage because of looks and fertility.

If you are going to spend your youth chasing money, then you best be ready to spend that money for the family together with what your husband brings.your other points were actually good and yeah men-to-women ratio isn't that far apart so yes you are correct on that.

Yeah and on the girlfriend issue, most girls in Nigeria are under pressure to bring a rich man , not a poor man. Family too needs to survive, and the extended family too needs more money

Also, women marry men who can feed their children.Harsh, but no woman wants to see her kid starve

Finally most of you guys are running after materialistic women and women out of your league. One of my friends wasted time doing so, and lost big time.. fortunately he found a nice woman who was within his league and not materialistic, they are happily married now.

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.
