Pennystockwarri:Without taking away anything from the owner, I just wondered the basis of the picks from everyone I have come across doing picks like this. People needs to understand that investing is a serious business n shouldn't be treated as side hassle. You just have to understand your onions because sharks exist for different reasons. You will see someone saying he/she is protecting newbies from a particular stocks n also recommending another one with worst or similar conditions. Someone said ellah is worst than cibex but keeps recommending c and I even without any data to justify it as good company. Abi what do you expect from someone that just heard the sound of rain and throw away the majority of the water in the house only to come to the reality that the rain is not going to fall. You expect the same person not to have bias view? If you do, I don't. ![]() |

Agbalowomeri:E get as e be. If you buy shares with max of N150 Million and you gained not more than N10 Million there will be no capital gain tax. However, if you bought shares worth N10M and you gained more than N10 million for those that are doing 100% and above gain, you will pay tax. But instead of cashing out, you decide to use all the sales including the gain to repurchase shares in the same calendar year, there will be no tax The rate is not flat. It is based on your income..will be treated as personal income tax amd na from 7 to 24%. The above is for individual investors. You go fear corporate organization own na |

Agbalowomeri:Yes they are. Excerpts from the CGT section: ".........will not be charged if: The sale proceeds are less than ₦150 million, and the chargeable gain does not exceed ₦10 million within 12 consecutive months." As for the percentage, I'm not too sure. |

unite4real:If we should apply the PIT, then that puts the percentage at 21-25% as below 10m is tax free for CGT? |

As a self-employed who invests business proceeds in the equity market, I'm advocating for a Capital Gains Tax (CGT) over Personal Income Tax (PIT). Imposing PIT would essentially be double taxation, which I believe is unfair. The Nigerian tax system seems to disproportionately affect Southerners, and I question how the government plans to tax informal sectors, such as herdsmen selling cattle in cash. Historically, tax policies in Nigeria have been region-sensitive, with Northern populations often being exempt due to perceived poverty. The new Tax Acts need to address how they intend to tax Northerners who predominantly prefer cash transactions. As someone who conducts business in Abuja, I can attest that many Hausa traders prefer physical cash over electronic transactions. Given the current economic climate, it appears that Southerners are bearing the brunt of taxation. As a business owner, I'd rather invest my business income in the capital market and opt for CGT, which aligns with my strategy. This approach would allow me to contribute to the economy while also growing my investments. Salary=❌ Investment=✔️ CGT➡️> after 10 years |

Mark this: Unlike Oando Q1 results Q2 results will be released early And it shall be an exciting improvement Which will usher Oando on a new trajectory And so shall it be As this remains planting season And not yet the period of harvest For the yield will be bountiful in due season Enough said! |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 12:52am On Jun 30, 2025 |
.Oga Agba, no need to worry about CGT just yet. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. By January 2026, we'll have a better understanding of the tax terrain and can adjust our sails accordingly, but for now if you are an investor, not on a payroll, then CGT is the better alternative than PAYE/PIT Agbalowomeri: |
