I think he's talking about the cgt issue
Yes, and I'm giving the answer he will get if he should approach Mr Govt and say: "When I sell at profit, you collect your cgt. Now that I've sold at a loss, where is my consolation?"

And you know that Jesus said we should give tax to Caesar, meaning the governing authority, and that's how I brought the name of Caesar in,

Does all stocks in NGX obey fundamentals?
One day red with CI, theories full ground....

Although I also thought Loco and Prof had some insider private info.

Anyway, there's one Oga who is very bullish on this CI Leasing.
Let's see how the stock fairs medium to long term anyway.
When I saw the comments about the first financial report, I cancelled my bid on another stock and jumped in @ 5.5 without looking 😳
I was lucky the free fund in my wallet was not much.

Loco and Prof. can help us move the stock to 6 naira Junction. grin

My thoughts on the downstream oil and gas players listed on the NGX.

No! Only when you sell an asset. If you wait for returns (income) in commercial papers, TBs and even stocks (dividend) CGT shouldn't apply. Usually, returns are less witholding tax. Ideally, you should still pay tax on ALL your income though less any tax-free thresholds and other incomes already taxed.

BUT if you buy TB and later decide to liquidate it, that's a CGT event (because you sold to realise a gain on your invested capital).

This is my understanding. Please fact check or consult your accountant.
Cool. Thanks

I am my own tax professional. My foreign portfolio is out of reach of the Agbalowomeri government. Any withdrawal made from my NYSE portfolio would be coming as capital importation. We would teach the government of Agbalowomeri maximum wisdom. It is not my money that NNPC Ltd staff would spend on Rwanda retreat. Just waiting to reach my financial freedom figure before I execute the Santzebrau move. They can only see; they cannot touch. The government of corruption wants CGT despite no pipe-borne water in my state of origin, dilapidated hospitals, epileptic power supply, pothole-ridden roads, and insecurity all over the country. The government should go and tax the Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, and Northern bandits.
The goverment of Agbalowomeri would need Nigerians with foreign brokers to make a voluntary disclosure, otherwise nothing for T-pain.

When trading US stocks through platforms like Chaka, Bamboo, or Trove, it's essential to understand the tax implications. Here's a general overview:

Taxation of US Stock Trading in Nigeria

- Capital Gains Tax (CGT): Gains from selling US stocks are subject to CGT in Nigeria. The tax rate depends on the individual's tax bracket and the holding period of the stock.

- Withholding Tax: Some US stocks may have withholding tax on dividends, which is typically 15% or 30% depending on the type of stock and the tax treaty between the US and Nigeria.

- Tax Reporting: Nigerian investors trading US stocks through platforms like Chaka, Bamboo, or US-Trove may need to report their gains and losses to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and pay applicable taxes.

Platform-Specific Tax Considerations*

- Chaka: Chaka may provide tax documents or reports to help Nigerian investors track their gains and losses.

- Bamboo: Bamboo may also provide tax-related information and support to help investors comply with Nigerian tax laws.

--Trove: may have its own tax reporting and compliance procedures in place.

Key Takeaways

- Nigerian investors trading US stocks should understand the tax implications and reporting requirements.

- It's essential to keep accurate records of trades, gains, and losses to ensure compliance with tax laws.

- Consulting with a tax professional or financial advisor can help optimize tax strategies and ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws.

C and I what really happened in your q1 results.
I was impressed with fy 2024 results.
Infact I cancelled my order for Cadbury for my 1 million challenge and moved it to Ci at #5.30 and #5.50.
Then q1 results came with vawulence instead of blast
I will not make loss that is my guarantee. I still have 6 months in that game. The first game game gave 216% from IB
I wait to see what happens in 6 months for the challenge investment

On different purchase I still bought for jijo at #4 max before today results

My suspicions about the government's intentions grew in 2024 when they confiscated forex gains from Nigerian banks. This move prompted me to divert a good portion of my investments into the NYSE's Magnificent 7 stocks, where I've seen significant returns – my $40k investment in 2 years grew to over $86k. My instincts warned me that the taxman would soon target NGX investors. It seems the government has a history of making decisions that ultimately harm the poor. To avoid being caught in the tax net, I've decided to reinvest all business proceeds into my portfolio, aiming to reach my financial freedom mark. No salary means no Personal Income Tax (PIT) – the government will have to wait for Capital Gains Tax instead.
That is definitely what he is, tax that will be collected and blown by a few.

Here are some strategies that might be used to optimize tax positions through capital importation:

1. Taking advantage of tax treaties: Utilizing tax treaties between countries to minimize withholding taxes or claim foreign tax credits.

2. Lower tax jurisdictions: Investing in countries with lower tax rates or more favorable tax environments.

3. Foreign tax credits: Claiming foreign tax credits in the home country for taxes paid in the foreign jurisdiction.

4. Holding structures: Using holding companies or other structures to optimize tax efficiency and minimize tax liabilities.

5. Timing of investments: Strategically timing investments to take advantage of tax losses or gains.

6. Currency management: Managing currency exchange to minimize tax liabilities associated with foreign exchange fluctuations.

These strategies can be complex and subject to change based on tax laws and regulations. It's essential to consult with a qualified tax professional to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions.

That's market for us....
Sometimes, you'll expect a stock to perform woefully following bad results but the opposite will be the case, and vice versa.

Try and exercise some patience, stocks have a way of retesting their previous highs.....all things being equal.

The result wasn't bad in my opinion, people were just disappointed with Q1 I think.
It will stabilize at some points.

At this point we really needed the fair value of CI Leasing..,..and Q2 might come with investors' expectations.

What amazes was when that prof. was talking with absolute certainty last week as if he has seen the results.

He was speaking in parables that people in ellah will turn to ellah product without any data to back all the claims, just speculation with certainty.

I just pity people following a stranger you don't know his/her intentions.

Remembering him n loco mouth,I was just laughing throughout the day.

People with the views that people come here to claim who they are not are absolutely right.

That is why I like osita, must of his arguments are logical, mostly back up with data and references.

For now, my foreign portfolio is 100% shielded from FIRS and her undertaker (NRS).
When I reach my freedom figure, I'll take the next decisive action. So far, the journey is going well in my favour.

I didnt go with this.

Tranche 2 was specifically made reference to in the 2024 audited account and June 30 (today) remains the qualification date.

The heavy cross deals might be from one institutional investor to another or one director taking position.

Let's await director's dealing disclosure on it.......if this is the case.

l remember my Prediction for C L Leasing , here being a spikey stock on the chart, meaning any reasonable gain could be losed within a tingle of days or weeks .Reason being that their Market movers are traders not investors.

I don't believe in chats in my purchase. I look at numbers. The market went down because the q1 results numbers went down it has nothing to do with chats of nose and ears.
If q1 results didn't come out today. Cand I would have entered full bid
