I'm not playing advocate here but we need to understand that these are painful changes that must be effected. We can argue the mode of enactment but trying to vilify the government is not too good. I recall many citizens also kicked against subsidy removal because "it was one of the benefits the masses get from the government". This same subsidy almost ran the economy aground... ![]() Heishere: |

EDUECO:I already highlighted that your strategy will demand bug capital or a lot of time n nothing wrong with that so far you are happy with it. That doesn't mean my approach is rubbish. |

It is extremely difficult to evade tax in most advanced countries. In Nigeria, only civil servants and corporate employees pay taxes. 98% of market men and women do not pay Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) on disposal of properties. 85% of textile dealers in Kano prefer cash to electronic payment, same in Dugbe Market in Ibadan. The Nigerian government has no bragging right to directly tax me. I use a generator to run my business; I provide portable water for myself. I pay security levies for my shop. I'm in the process of fully digitalizing my business, hence the tax efficient codes become a necessity. The Hausa-Fulani ruled Nigeria for 40 years plus; they opposed everything from national identity registration to electoral reforms. Now, Tinubu has put the job that was supposed to have been done 50 years ago on his shoulders. He thinks he's smart; I see people revolting against any government that tries to steal citizens' money in the name of taxation. All over the world, the most difficult thing for governments and tax undertakers to do is separating business money and personal money from the books of a sole proprietor. Many occasions, the business doesn't bring money, and he has to use his personal savings to keep the business afloat. Whatever you declare as a sole proprietor in Nigeria is seen by tax undertakers as a good gesture. Do you know how many multibillionaire market men and women that are spread all over Nigeria who never pay PIT before? The last Sallah festival in Abuja was an eye-opener. I had accompanied a friend to buy a ram in Suleja; after negotiation and bargaining, it was time to pay. My friend brought out a debit card, but the ram seller said no card payment. Lo and behold, my friend had to purchase cash from a POS vendor to pay. Most of these traders are richer than many professors of Technical and Real analysis because they do not pay taxes. The story resonates all over Nigeria. Tax the rich, punish the poor. ojesymsym: |

EDUECO:If you trade in shares in Nigeria and the owner of the house never catch you as a thief then, you are still an apprentice thief. Bros, in this same country, experts and pros bought Transcorp Public offering at N7 and it eventually went down to N1plus. Eyes don see plenty for Nigeria. The most important is, get a shock absorber as an investor in Nigeria. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mankind2024: 6:00pm On Jul 01, 2025 |
The Nigerian government lacks sincerity of purpose. They keep collecting from the very poor to fund the rich. In the face of severe economic downturn, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated travels to London, while NNPC Ltd retreats to Rwanda - extravagant spending of public funds. The easiest way to escape government oppression in Nigeria is to be self-employed or a sole proprietor; otherwise, 35 years of active service as a civilized slave would just vanish like the moon. EDUECO:What if you fall off your chair? What if a pigeon shits on your head tomorrow morning? There are too many ‘what ifs’—all of them possible. Someone could leave their house and get hit by a car. They're all ‘what ifs.’ Does that mean you’ll never step outside again? Risk is universal—even your dividend-paying stocks carry risk. The key is knowing how to manage it. If you don’t know how, ask me nicely, and I’ll school you on risk management. |

Can anyone kindly share with me a personal phone number or email of a staff of City Securities Ltd(CSL). I need them to update my Holdings on their online trading portal. My APR bonus credited to my CSCS account is not yet updated on the trading portal. Also three of my FGN Bonds are not listed on the portal. All are in my CSCS account. Have sent an email to that effect to their customer service but no one has bothered to even reply my mail. Thanks. |

KarlTom:Why is the people at the top not making sacrifice. What have they done with what was saved from the policy. We are to make sacrifice while the presidency is flexing at larger level like the present vacation. Why are they not cutting expenses related to them and thr family. Why haven't they cut the cost of governance at thr level. IT is the poor and middle class that are good at making sacrifice only in this country. |
