It is a rip off. Those countries enjoy some benefits. Here, there is none. Currently I pay over 5M in tax per annum. Imagine how much it will be when the new one starts. Yet, I am paying for my own water, health, power, education, transport and even security etc. I am pained. Anyway, their enjoyment won't be long. The rip off will stop soon.

They need operational funds for the new ventures they are entering.

He thinks he's smart; I see people revolting against any government that tries to steal citizens' money in the name of taxation. All over the world, the most difficult thing for governments and tax undertakers to do is separating business money and personal money from the books of a sole proprietor. Many occasions, the business doesn't bring money, and he has to use his personal savings to keep the business afloat. Whatever you declare as a sole proprietor in Nigeria is seen by tax undertakers as a good gesture.
Do you know how many multibillionaire market men and women that are spread all over Nigeria who never pay PIT before? The last Sallah festival in Abuja was an eye-opener. I had accompanied a friend to buy a ram in Suleja; after negotiation and bargaining, it was time to pay. My friend brought out a debit card, but the ram seller said no card payment. Lo and behold, my friend had to purchase cash from a POS vendor to pay. Most of these traders are richer than many professors of Technical and Real analysis because they do not pay taxes. The story resonates all over Nigeria.
Tax the rich, punish the poor.

Majority of the tax avoidance techniques you have listed here work more in the US than anywhere else in the world, particularly Nigeria. I am not too sure our tax agency care that much about business expense so trying to make a personal expense become a business expense may not fly.

Seeing ellahlakes crossed 8, I wondered what is going through the mind of loco n fogo..

Stock market doesn't have emotions.

I swear only me understand what Loco is going through now. I bought my first quantity of TIP at 1.89 last year. Sold all my holding early this year at 4.11 thinking I made a kill. Just look at TIP price today.

I missed Ella Lake at 5.40, though i later joined at 7:70. This market no send emotions, it's does unthinkable

Why is the people at the top not making sacrifice.What have they done with what was saved from the policy. We are to make sacrifice while the presidency is flexing at larger level like the present vacation. Why are they not cutting expenses related to them and thr family. Why haven't they cut the cost of governance at thr level. IT is the poor and middle class that are good at making sacrifice only in this country.
