So you agree they all carry risk. Now let’s look at the other side of the equation: returns. Ellah Lakes has much higher expected returns than the bank you mentioned—if you make an objective analysis.

The real question is: does the return justify the risk? You can’t answer that for others, because your projections are different from mine. We saw high potential based on genuine analysis—of course, with risk—but it was worth taking. So far, it’s paying off: the stock that once sold for ₦3 now goes for ₦8.

Is it worth buying now at the current price? That depends. Due diligence is essential, and the risk may be higher now than when it was ₦3. But, if an investor can justify the decision with thorough, in-depth analysis and proper risk management, then why not?

And we mitigated risk through diversification; I still hold some of those bank stocks. What I’m teaching you here—you won’t get it anywhere else for free. cheesy
Stocks that I can't buy and hold for 10 years,I will never buy and hold even for 1 week. angry

Nigerian Government has announced plans to commence mass electric vehicle (EV) transportation in the North-East, following the approval of contracts worth N151.9 billion by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

The contracts include the supply of electric buses and tricycles, alongside the development of charging infrastructure.

The initiative, funded by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote energy efficiency in the region.

“The Tinubu administration will soon begin mass electric vehicle transportation in northeast Nigeria, with the Federal Executive Council clearing the last obstacle to implementing the plan.

“Last week, the Council approved contracts worth almost $100 million, or N151.9 billion, to supply buses and tricycles and establish charging infrastructure for electric vehicles,” a statement Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, read in part.

It is a rip off. Those countries enjoy some benefits. Here, there is none. Currently I pay over 5M in tax per annum. Imagine how much it will be when the new one starts. Yet, I am paying for my own water, health, power, education, transport and even security etc. I am pained. Anyway, their enjoyment won't be long. The rip off will stop soon.
Most if not all of the things you listed here fall under the microeconomics responsibilities of the States and the Local Government Authorities. ("LGAs"wink. One major grouse most people have with the FGN was the sudden removal of subsidy alongside the liberalised foreign exchange market which spooked the prices of goods and services.

It was a double whammy that only a few that were knowledgeable and disciplined could survive because the President had given signals that he would toe that line but many dis not expect it to be done immediately.

However, the States and LGAs need triple their hustle at the microeconomics level to enable Nigerians get out of the rot in the system or else Nigerians need to hit hard and put more pressure on the States and the LGAs.

The microeconomics authorities in Nigeria are committing daylight robbery on the resources of the people and hindering the progress that could have been made at the microeconomics level of society. If you look at LGAs in Lagos or some other commercially viable provinces and municipal areas, there is no excuse or reason why the quality of life has not improved over the years.

Nigerians need to focus on draining the swamps at the State and LGAs level including the legislative bodies at both levels. The amount of monies generated yet wasted and mismanaged at the lower level is of astronomical proportion.

Would anyone believe that the Lagos Island Local Government raised a bond several decades ago to build the Sura Shopping Complex, transport projects and many other commercially viable projects.

Eku market oooo...
Using the Price-Volume Profile of Oando, Oando is at the 1 year Point of Control area which is an area that serves as a resistance if price coming from below or support if price coming from above.
A price break below this High volume node area may see Oando test the weak support at #40 but a price action above with volume may see it test the weak resistance area of #60 and #70 again.

Mankind2024:
It is extremely difficult to evade tax in most advanced countries. In Nigeria, only civil servants and corporate employees pay taxes. 98% of market men and women do not pay Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) on disposal of properties. 85% of textile dealers in Kano prefer cash to electronic payment, same in Dugbe Market in Ibadan. The Nigerian government has no bragging right to directly tax me. I use a generator to run my business; I provide portable water for myself. I pay security levies for my shop. I'm in the process of fully digitalizing my business, hence the tax efficient codes become a necessity.

The Hausa-Fulani ruled Nigeria for 40 years plus; they opposed everything from national identity registration to electoral reforms. Now, Tinubu has put the job that was supposed to have been done 50 years ago on his shoulders. He thinks he's smart; I see people revolting against any government that tries to steal citizens' money in the name of taxation. All over the world, the most difficult thing for governments and tax undertakers to do is separating business money and personal money from the books of a sole proprietor. Many occasions, the business doesn't bring money, and he has to use his personal savings to keep the business afloat. Whatever you declare as a sole proprietor in Nigeria is seen by tax undertakers as a good gesture.
Do you know how many multibillionaire market men and women that are spread all over Nigeria who never pay PIT before? The last Sallah festival in Abuja was an eye-opener. I had accompanied a friend to buy a ram in Suleja; after negotiation and bargaining, it was time to pay. My friend brought out a debit card, but the ram seller said no card payment. Lo and behold, my friend had to purchase cash from a POS vendor to pay. Most of these traders are richer than many professors of Technical and Real analysis because they do not pay taxes. The story resonates all over Nigeria.
Tax the rich, punish the poor.
My brother, it is not fair and in good faith to say that market men and women do not pay taxes. They may not pay a proportionate income tax but most of them pay a hefty sales tax and levies daily. The same applies to local transporters and many in the informal sector.

The young lady hawking groundnuts, the northern guy doing alabaru, the roadside vulcaninizer, the food vendor at the motor park or even the roadside block making industry pay taxes or levies of a minimum NGN1,000 per midday or 12 hour activity? Some LGAs even collect liquor, signage tax, bicycle tax, television and radio license tax, etc.

Places like Oshodi, Agege, Obalende, Ajah, Ikeja, Alagbado, Oko Oba, etc generate several hundreds of billions in NGN as internally generated revenue yet there is no meaningful development therein.

The swamp needs to be drained at these micro levels.

Using Point and Figure Analysis of Oando...
There was a break-down of price at #58.5, the next support line will be at 54.95.
A further breakdown of price at this level may see it touch 48.

It’s perfectly fine if your goal is to invest for 10 years—there’s nothing wrong with that. The problem lies in thinking that just because you choose to do things one way, that automatically makes it the only valid approach.

The world is much bigger than whatever experience you believe you’ve accumulated. Not everyone aims to hold for a decade. Some are comfortable with capital appreciation while actively managing risk. Others, like us, identify stocks with potential—just like we did when Ellah Lakes was below ₦3—set a target exit, and if our calculations are correct, we hit our goal.

Must everyone be your kind of investor? Must we all see the world in black and white? Think deeply about these questions.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 9:58am On Jul 02, 2025
Strictly on the stock(not the business)
-Ellah lakes almost guaranteed a return of capital for those who bought between 3-3.3.
Worse case was a 10% hair cut.
-The historical one year
and TA justifies this bottom out position.

-moreso, the periodic conversion of loans to equity also added to the resistance at this junction.
-it was liquid enough for entry and exit as when required, little risk of getting trapped.
-The worst case scenario for those on the train was alternative forgone opportunity in other stocks and as someone said whether your BP-level can sustain the patience needed when other stocks are gyrating.

-the stock is still in single digits, with bottomed out point secured, 100% in a short is a matter of time.
- BP controlled patience was all that was required.

-The potential risk was matched with potential reward in the short term + almost guaranteed capital which reduces the risk profile.

- strictly on the stock(not the Business)

But I get you; as of now, Newbies shouldn't Jump into moving train whose brake may or may not have failed as the business takes the front row.

The driver and expert traders know where and when to disembark.

This will help you.
1. Stop using the bookmarked link you currently use.
2. Google search Atlass Portfolios and go straight to their official website.
3. On the top left corner of their site, click “Login”.
4. Enter your username and password afresh on that page, and you should be in.
Every other time, use this route to log in without hinderance.
Let me know if this works.

I'm not playing advocate here but we need to understand that these are painful changes that must be effected.
We can argue the mode of enactment but trying to vilify the government is not too good.

I recall many citizens also kicked against subsidy removal because "it was one of the benefits the masses get from the government".

This same subsidy almost ran the economy aground... smiley
