There is no any bitter lesson ,there is more opportunity and chance it will work if you are inside UK..Get in and get your self a job and don’t be lazy ,Trust me everything will work out ..I have done it and I have friends that keep doing it .. I get my sponsorship immediately after school 2 years ago ..if you don’t then you can get into post study that’s 18-20 months to get a permanent job with sponsors , is it hard ? Yes. But it’s not impossible .Brace up yourself it’s not going to be easy but it’s achievable .

Welcome to UK.

Brother I understand you ,it’s not as easy as it was 2 years ago .

The requirements is to work for employers for at least 3 months now and no more dependents after July 22nd ,it’s say all this shit will be review in 2026.

If there is a country that need labour it’s this Uk ,there will always be way for everyone..

That’s why no matter the situation just get in first ,it’s far more better than Nigeria even now .

I hope God be with everyone and open way for yall .

I intentionally posted this here. This was released yesterday.
With this, the possibility of getting sponsorship after study is very very low except u study clinical courses that can get u job with NHS.
I know some will say this is discouraging but it's fact...
Think a million times before u japa..
What do you think about Safety, Health and Environmental Management pls?

Hi, please can you let me know when you eventually get an email from them? I was also asked to submit the same documents and I responded one day after you (25th June). I sent you an email, please respond.

Safety, Health and Environmental management is it a good route? I still have time as it’s for January intake.. Make I know if to explore other options.

Sincerely I don't know much about it or if one can secure job with NHS with this. Reason is the focus is now much more on NHS if really one wants to get sponsorship.
U can make personal findings on it, there are loads of job specifications in NHS so I believe it should fits somewhere.

There is no bitter lesson and there are opportunities in the UK? And you saying this from your limited experience in the UK? Any idea the number of foreign students who were not able to secure a job after graduation? Do you have an idea about those who could not even finish their studies?
The information heykims dropped was to help those preparing to come to make the right decision, pick the right course so as to secure a job after graduation but somehow some of you think he is discouraging prospective applicants.

Two years ago? Really?

You want to compare two years ago with now knowing fully well how the immigration law in the U.K changes every quarter (3 months).

Or you mean two years when the immigration climate was a bit favourable?

Okay, continue.

Nigerians and their "my case is different" mentality.

Imagine comparing now with two years ago? The absurdity.

Just keep quiet if you don’t have something nice to say to people that have paid school fee and willing to leave home and try new things abroad .

Is it hard? Yes .
Are people working it out even with the new rules ? Yes .

In as much as the immigration rules is strict there is still much chance to survive here than in Nigeria .

Stop putting panic on people minds let everyone do what works for them and leave this depression and sad stories alone .

As it stands today I’m sure you aren’t willing to go back to Nigeria ,let them take the risk ..share good news about people that have done it and be able to settle and not just panic and sad stories

It’s hard enough relocating and hearing people that live there that won’t come back home saying bad things about it is not the motivation this people need when they get in .

For myself I don’t get it easy ,I know how many weeks I spend for hotel before I was able to get one crazy apartment ,crazy impromptu agency shift and all join with sch classes and assignments. It’s not easy .

It get better the more you live and understand how the system works . If someone as already paid over 6k£ in deposit or over 20m in relocation I can bet they know what’s at risk and negative news is the least of the things they want to hear .

Have a great evening brother .

Okay. If you have a prepaid dollar card, simply get the naira equivalent in USD and put the right amount in the card. It is just like depositing money to an account.

Lol bro, I've stayed in abroad in the past for a few years and I know how it feels about the "depression" part (assuming we are talking about the same thing).
My point is that many 9ja folks in the UK have made it a habit of spreading fear and posting mostly the sad stories about abroad, but yet they're still living there. Can't our people in the UK share the good stories sometimes? Or must it be fear fear all the time?
It's not easy anywhere and especially in a new country but this is an opportunity that comes with risks. In all, we hope for a better future. ✌️

The truth is, opportunities are thinner on the ground right now—and that’s not fearmongering, it’s backed by the data. It's important we give people the heads-up. Better to be prepared than blindsided.

U sound quite reasonable and mature, and u are very right. So I'll reply.
However, it's good people know updates before they embark on the journey. I'm not referring to people who have finalised their admission processes and only plan flying in.
It is more for people at the stage of initiating the move.
Update shared is to allow people make informed decisions.
I moved 2 years ago with my wife and didn't spend up to 15million naira in total which included £10500 of tuition paid.
Majority that traveled then counted on care job switching. Many are stuck now on post graduate visa but at least the rule is relaxed a bit for those in the UK already.
It may sound harsh but we have to state it. I'm also affected to an extent by the rule, so we all have our fair share.
The most brutal of them all is that people on student visa can no longer get sponsorship in Care job even after concluding their studies.
So before u embark of study route, map out your plan as to where to get sponsorship after school. It used to be care job for over 90% of students but it's no longer an option.
It's just an update and brutal one at that. Yes it is, we don't need to sugar coat.

People do share positive news and when they do a lot of Nigerians will accuse them of showing off or presenting the UK as heaven, you hear things like..there is nothing in the UK, bills are killing them, they are second class citizens, they are suffering and smiling bla bla bla

When they share bad news the same Nigerians will start moaning and saying don't discourage us, Nigeria is hell, we rather suffer and die in the UK etc. So what exactly do you people want?

Bro, ever since I've been on this thread, I've never seen anyone say something positive about the UK. Personally, I've not seen (maybe some have). No one shares "how hard it was at the beginning and how they turned it around" posts. I'm not saying it's a bed of roses there but come on, such posts lifts hearts and minds (for those scared).

Secondly, I always have it at the back of mind that "anything can happen", especially relocating to a foreign country. I'm not against sharing updates for people in 9ja to learn and get informed, but for the past few weeks/months now, no encouraging stories at all (asides VISA ALERTS!).

Lastly, please be sharing good stories too and I'll never say you're showing off, but learn how to get to that stage too.

Chief thank you for the understanding and recognising I wasn't attacking you for updating us. I was just wondering if there's any good thing again left in the UK, as all I've been seeing lately is one sad news to another here. I'm certain some people over there still had ways they made or gained something tangible for themselves, as there will always be good and bad news as long as we live on earth.

A mixture of both would help alot of people come to a reasonable conclusion on which path to follow.

God will see us all through ✌️

There’s a lot of good in the UK — if you can find your feet in the labour market.
Forget the stories people post about the UK being all about bills and struggle. Yes, the cost of living is real, but with a good job and some discipline, you can achieve a lot here.

People actually buy houses (yes, on mortgage) within just two years — there’s even a mortgage thread on Nairaland that proves this. If I decided to focus purely on saving, I could probably buy a decent house in Lagos with just a year or two’s savings from here.

What’s worth noting, though, is that the UK job market isn’t as buoyant as it was just a short while ago.
Even more concerning is the government's clear agenda: a sharp reduction in net migration.

They’re not necessarily targeting student visas themselves — they understand and value the revenue international students bring into the economy. But the real strategy lies in what comes after the degree.

Instead of reducing student numbers, they’re making it significantly harder for students to stay and transition into work or residency. New policies are being designed to place serious hurdles in the path of those hoping to remain after their studies.

In essence: “Come, study, spend — but don’t expect to stay.”

Another thing to keep in mind is that it now costs at least twice as much — if not more — to move to the UK compared to just 3 or 4 years ago.
But despite the higher cost associated with the move now, the chances of settling in successfully have dropped due to stricter immigration policies and the current economic and political climate.

In short: higher investment, lower certainty. That’s the reality for many trying to move now.

For example, this week. The government announces its intention to raise the minimum skilled worker pay from 38K to £41K. That additional 3K would be the reason some job opportunities would go off the table for migrants seeking job sponsorship. To put this in perspective, median pay in the UK is just about £31K. Such moves have real implications for migrants seeking sponsored jobs.

& more hurdles are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The bottom line is that there are still positives in the UK, but access to assessing them is now restricted.

hello everyone. please i need advice. i want to use my neco result for visa application but firstly, there is a misspelling on the name on the neco result and i have always used an affidavit for that. Recently, i realized the date of birth on my neco result is different from the one on my passport, is it okay to make an affidavit for that too and will two different affidavits be accepted?
