Ella Lakes is just 5 years old under this new management, a year plus of which was under Covid. The old Ella was insolvent till taken over by young brains that share the belief that something good could come out of Nigeria. These brilliant ones should be celebrated. Had it not been for this lifeline, those who had invested in the company would have lost all. Chuka Mordi has all it takes to turn Ella Lakes into the pride of Nigerians. I only wish he would be less economical with information. NIGERIA can be better. N250 billion will not only lift Ella Lakes but lift Nigeria if used to develop the land banks and their special agric processing zones. It's a noble project. May she succeed with all our support.

From our National Anthem….

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

Amen.

You have not come to terms with the cost of doing business since the "subsidy is gone" statement and free floating of naira. See you at DD.

Why Did C&I Leasing’s Share Price Crash From ₦5.50 to ₦4.26 After Q1?

Simple Answer:
The market misread the Q1 results, fixating on the PAT line without digging deeper.

What Happened: A Reconstruction
| Metric (Q1 2025) | Value | Market Reaction |
|----------------------|-----------|---------------------|
| Revenue | ₦9.17B | Healthy |
| Gross Profit | ₦4.92B | Solid |
| PAT | ₦433M | "Too low?" |
| EPS | ₦0.15 | "Looked weak" |
| Depreciation | ₦2.08B (₦500M YoY increase) | Not understood |
| OCI | ₦21–₦28B | Ignored entirely |

Market’s Take:
Saw flat PAT and low EPS. Conclusion: "Growth is stalling. Dump it."What the Market Missed: Depreciation jumped ₦500M, suppressing reported profit. Operating income was stronger YoY. MV Bello (vessel) likely not yet factored in, signaling future upside. No fundamental deterioration—purely accounting timing.

Bottom Line:
The market’s reaction was emotional, not rational. It punished C&I Leasing for conservative, IFRS-compliant reporting, not for broken fundamentals.

You are doing a great job of not selling. Let me tell you why you are not selling. It is because you are buying bits and pieces (sorry for my choice of words, I meant no harm). The highest units I saw there was about a 1,000 units. Imagine you have bought 20,000 units of some of those stocks, check what you would have made in monetary terms in today's current price. You may still not see the reason to sell because you are somehow emotionally attached. You are in NGX to make money and until you take some profit ( physically) what you have is paper profit. I really don't know if i have been able to answer your question.

Lesson learnt: Stake big money in any stock you believe in so that if it jells you make huge profit. But if it fails too you make big loss

Mr Investcom. I just gone through your numerous portfolios. If you take my candid advice, I believe you have too many stocks in smaller units. You don't have to be in every stock in NGX. Just one or two in every sector will do. It will even be difficult to track and monitor your stocks. Even when dividend is paid your bank service charge will be higher than you dividend received. So, you may need to really sanitizer your portfolio. There was a time I was buying anything available. But, I have cleaned up my portfolio and now have a manageable number of stocks. Out of about 155 stocks on the NGX, you don't need more than 20 stocks.

Lesson learnt: Jack of all trades, master of none.

CAVERTON is highly undervalued in comparison to its peer in the service sector.

Based on the last earning report and the current price, here is the P/E of some of the stocks in the service sector:
Transcorp hotel P/E : 72.65
Nahco: 11.02
Red start express: 13.3
Skyway Aviation : 6.78
Initiates: 6.92
Learn africa: 8.93
University press: 6.84
Ikeja hotel: 5.82
Cileasing: 8.43
CAVERTON: 3.54

Based on the q1 report and using a P/E of 7, my current price target for Caverton is a minimum of 13 naira per share.

If Q2 delivers, we should be looking at above 15.

I am still trying to be patient with Access, maybe because they have already crossed the recapitalization hurdle. I nearly exchange two of my Access for one Zenith (excluding commission). But, i didn't at the time, even Zenith Bank dividend was twice Access. Now, Zenith had left it behind. If i were to convert my Access to Zenith Bank in today's closing price i will be exchanging 2.5 Access for 1 Zenith (excluding commission)
sad sad sad angry angry angry angry huh huh huh huh
In that case let's look at dividend multiples too. So why don't you multiply the total dividend of N2.50 by 2.5. that's 6.25 for access while zenith bank total dividend was N5.

Which one appears cheaper right now.

You can also do your Price earning ratio.

Folks have been bashing access bank for poor dividend. I bet if you can count more than 5 companies on the exchange with a better dividend yield than access. If there are more, I will like to know

I actually bought 10,000 units at this public offering. I was receiving some little dividend. But as the name changed from Japaul oil to Japaulgold it was no longer on my portfolio. I guess I will have to start investigation with my stockbroker. Share matter no easy o. Atimes it can really be frustrating. 10,000 units no be joke o. Will really have to unearth it.
