"I never wooed my woman also. Anytime she asks abt when I would propose, I smile.

In May, I asked if they sold wedding rings in Abk. She said yes. Asked her to go there. Told me the price, & I sent it, she bought it herself and fixed it. Got married last Thursday. It only works when the woman genuinely desires you. You'd regret it if you try it with a woman who doesn't and that's a positive regret".

Me too, I gave my wife the money to buy the ring herself. No time.
When she brought it, I collected it and put it in her hand.
Wetin concern me, and I always remind her that marriage favors women most. So if you do anyhow you go see anyhow.
Re: Nigerian Man Shares The Unconventional Way He Proposed To His Partner by Kukutente23: 10:17pm On Jul 04, 2025
Nothing wrong with this

Nothing wrong with buying the ring for her after she had seen it and wearing it on her finger either

The error is to buy a ring she hasn't seen

Women go shock you
Re: Nigerian Man Shares The Unconventional Way He Proposed To His Partner by Goo0dHardDick: 10:19pm On Jul 04, 2025
The fact she asked when will you proposed means she's fast becoming an evening newspaper and she knows it. Time wasn't on her side either

As a man, take your time before getting married. Don't allow any lady to rush you or pressure you into marriage

I met my wife right here on Nairaland. We dated for about 6 months. One random afternoon during my break at work, I invited her out for lunch at a buka.
In between amala and cold Coke, I brought out a ring and told her, “Start preparing for marriage.” No long talk, no kneeling, just straight to the point.
She smiled, wore it, and the rest is history.
We've been married for 6 years now.
When she’s your person, you don’t need plenty drama. It just flows.

This response below is to someone's comment.
A proposal isn’t defined by where it happens or how dramatic it looks.
It’s about two people agreeing to build life together, in whatever style fits them best.

I blame the girl for this, must be low self esteem that made her accept such a ridiculous proposal.

this wasn't exactly what you said, don't ridicule your wife online.

that's no respectful way to propose.

So much ado about proposals.

I see ignorant people talking about desperation, meanwhile this proposal things is a western construct. If after a month of dating you don't have a clear direction of where this relationship is headed then I don't see why are on a relationship. Most of these so-called relationships are just opportunities for people to fornicate. When two people have a common goal, there is no need for this so called proposal. A simple "when can I come see your people" is proposal. No need for all these nonsense drama about rings and "will you marry me?" If you won't marry him then what are you doing with him?
