Some Cultures (In the case of Nigeria) most especially Those from the Hausa Royal families marry their first Cousins so that they won't bring in a foreign blood to the royal family... Can you do that?

According to some quarters that Culture is mostly practice in the Middle East (Islamic Tradition)

South Asia countries like India, Pakistan and Bangledesh

Sub Saharan Africa

And some US States

Yep, it's allowed for us to get married to our cousins... My maternal aunt is married to her cousin.

Only Muslims in India might marry their cousins.

Marrying any cousins no matter how distant, forget first cousins, is taboo in most of India.

Some states in the south India do practise marrying second cross cousins i.e. when there is no inbreeding as a result. But even there its not very prevalent.

India has had ancient methods and traditions to ensure that no marriages occur between same family lines for next seven generations. That is strictly enforced in the clans. More strictly than even the caste system. As a result, cousin marriages have been largely impossible in India for thousands of years. Its incredibly insulting to lump India together with the likes of Pakistan on the subject of inbreeding.

Folks really need to stop hyphenating India with Pakistan. These two are very different nations.

Yeah. I am Indian. Obviously I take this matter very seriously. Its insulting to us Indians. Our civilization figured out the problem of inbreeding in the pre- Vedic era, around 8000 or more years ago. That is how the gotra system came into being. Marrying cousins is a sign of savagery, its barbaric behavior.

But now, because of the inbred Pakistanis and their depraved nature, we're being called the same. Pakistanis are not Indians. They are the ones who turned away from being Indians, ones who spit on the Gods of their own forefathers. This is the entire reason that Pakistan split from India during the independence movement.

Just look at the Indian immigrants in UK and those from Pakistan. Pakistani immigrants are known for grooming gangs. Indian immigrants are not. Instead the Sikhs in UK were among the first to notice the pattern and fight back against these Pakistani gangs. UK news channels have only recently started interviewing these Sikhs, check it out. GB News had one interview, I think.

India is very different from Pakistan at every level. Only Pakistani propaganda and those affected by that propaganda think that India and Pakistan are similar.

I know that some cultures permit it (even here in Nigeria) and it's not in my place to either approve or condemn it. I once read about a former CJN who married his own first cousin and even confirmed that his own parents were cousins!

Also, there's someone I know, personally, who married his own cousin! Tho, this particular one was not intentional according to him. It's because the two of them didn't know until they've gone really far in the relationship and even had kids. Tho, he's already in his 60s now and he told me that anytime any of his children beings any potential spouse home, he would personally conduct an investigation to ensure that the child doesn't make the same mistake.

As for me, where I come from, let it be seventh or tenth cousin, it is an abomination. No family member will even allow it or even take you seriously if you ever contemplate that. I've never even had it before!

God created only two people, a man and a woman.

This is one family. It means, God only created one family. So with which family did their offsprings reproduce with?

Of course, I can marry my cousin for sure. I have beautiful cousins, great brains and extraordinary beauties, but I don't actually look at them from marriage perspective, however, I can actually marry my cousin.
