Before care, people came in on visit visa and overstayed illegally. That was what was in vogue then and people still do it. They would later after years, some decades find ways to legalise their stays which isn't even possible again now. Good thing about the UK is even if u are an illegal migrant, your children still get to go to school, no one will probe them.
Moreso, let's act like educated folks, update on immigration policy was merely shared and someone asked a question and answer was provided. No one is saying u shouldn't move to the UK.

I'd expected you to make your findings on how people used to do it back then and not just jump on impulsivity, that's why we are literates.
If you like insult me, the negative talk is too much. We should look out for each other and share ways to survive anything. Indians do it, why can't we.

Students got married too and switched to spousal visa, everyone did not become illegal.

I'm no longer interested in this talk, sorry I started it, I came here for positivity and information to help my journey.

There is nothing negative about what he said. It was a bit easier back then. Even still I know people who travelled back to Naija when all failed. You mentioned spousal visa not every one has that option or opportunity.

The truth of it all is it is not as easy anymore and it is not negativity for anyone to point this out, in fact it is beneficial so anyone moving after this change can brace brace themselves, do their research and plan.

I have never seen care work as a path to remaining in the UK. The loss of that access is not the end of the world. All these talk especially from this thread in 2017 was the reason I didn't travel because students were going and returning back home.

What I never saw or knew was that some people stayed back without becoming illegal. No problem if immigration rules are tightened but no help on walk arounds, just information that causes fear.

What used to cost N3m is now almost N20m and what I see as negative vibes are still floating freely to cause confusion and fear in the hearts of intending students.

The suffering I have had to endure.

Maybe I don't need this thread self. Make I dey run my thing quietly.

For someone that didn’t go for nysc, cos of the programmehe did, Parttime but it’s BSC degree, what what he use instead of nysc.
KingQ:

You don't need NYSC discharge certificate for UK study visa! All the best

Those coming through the study route should be more intentional about the courses they are opting for because it makes no sense studying courses that gives little or no chance of getting skilled worker visa.

Limiting this to my own field, I did my Msc. in Clinical Child Psychology and presently work in the children services of a London borough, under the safeguarding and corporate parenting unit.

Courses and work experience related to children, increases one's chances of getting a skilled worker visa as the demand for skilled workers in that sector is very high in both the private and public sector.

That is not the reason you did not travel, you could not travel simply because you could not afford it and was looking for someone to give you shortcut story to success. Studying in the UK cost way more than 3M in 2017.

If you had what it requires to study in the UK then the so called negative stories wouldn't have stopped you.

Go and calculate it, before Tinubu people were still leaving for under N5m. If you like argue with your keyboard.

School fees deposit.... £2k
Ihs and visa fee..... £500
Blocked funds for living expenses..... £500
Tuberculosis test.........£60
Ticket.....£300
First month accommodation and feeding £1000
Total.......~£5000 at N600=N3m the actual money wasn't up to

If you want to bet N1m, I can print my balance from that time that showed I had N12m in my account for over 5 months. I don't talk based on assumptions.

You just displayed how ignorant you are with this nonsense calculation.

Blocked funds for living expenses..... £500?

In 2015 the maintenance money for outside and inner London are £1,265 and £1,015 per month

If school fees deposit was 2K what happened to the rest of the fees?

No wonder you guys only see problems in solutions. Go ask people who have actually gone through visa process or travelled how they did their blocked funds for living expenses that it ends up being the amount I quoted.

Who actually has £18k just lying around to use for blocked funds? 😂😂😂

Abeg make I dey go jare, there's nothing here for me.

Nobody will tell you that because its all lies, you are clueless and got no money to travel. Some people actually have more than that 18K in 2017 for student visa process and those people are not here hunting for feel-good stories to encourage them.

Like i said before..you got no money to travel, you are one of those looking for illegal means to travel.

I have ran this thread close to 15yrs now and i know people like you from a far.

Wow, your ego is so hurt because you are wrong. Get over it. This is a simple question you can ask even AI how it is done and you will be told, even oyibo people know how we do it. OGs go just dey laugh you.

I'm sorry sha, it wasn't my intention to hurt your feelings but the deal still stands.

I will provide my passport data page to prove I own the Gtbank account that had a closing balance of N10m+ in 2017. The bet is N1m. Choose acceptable escrow let me chew your N1m for the weekend.

Accept the bet or take your L and go. 😂😂😂

AI will not tell you that in 2017 that it cost 3M to study in the UK and no oyibo will tell you that as well.

You never had 11M + in 2017 and was struggling to spend just 3M for travel.

I don't know you and have never met you physically so how will i know that the bank statement and passport belongs to you and not someone else? Does that make sense to you?

You are not smart enough to read and understand how visa processing works hence your calculation here and inability to understand visa rules. You can't even beat the system even if someone outlines the process for you.

But the first advice he gave (which you said was wrong) was actually right. The person is yet to to start his studies, so not even on a graduate visa. So yes the changes happening this July will apply to him.

What you have copied and pasted applies to people currently in the country. When the person in question hasn't even entered the UK.

Abeg disregard that guy, he is only educated but not literate. He claimed he was discouraged from travelling years back, how come someone like me wasn't deterred from coming just 2 years ago? Simply because I read and researched deeply and knew the best and possibly the last time I could come was in September 2023 because barring dependant started in January 2024.
He was even saying before Care, people were relocating but was lazy enough not to do findings the route people explored.
The thing is people not in UK don't really understand this immigration policy and that's the essence of a forum like this to explain. Then individuals can make their decisions on what to do. It is about being informed, not being discouraged.
Life is about risk, if u feel the risk is worth it, leap on.

sad i could remember back then 2019 to be precise. A classmate who recently got there was giving me advice on how to come to Canada. I ask him steps.

He sent me several courses that are not in vogue in Nigeria . I saw EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION on thr list and many courses that relates to children and adult mental welfare ..
But i said which one be all this yeye course? I said i would rather go with MSc in my field businesse huh
Although i didn't mbark that journey again until 2022 i decided to travel this time to UK.. I still went n poured almost 20k pounds on a business course cry the certificate de look me like this.

Using naija eye to plan might be confusing.

Right now i don swear.. Any of my children.. If its not science.. That promote or enhances life i won't bother wasting my money on university on them

When i wanted to embark on UK journey. I still chatted him again 2022. Below was his last advise and warning.

Today i am still warning others but they call it discouragement

Where's the best center to do the TB Test for a non Lagos resident?

Benin is closest but they don't have a functional phone number for any inquiry. If you have used Benin IOM for TB Test, please drop how you made payment and recommend any good hotel you stayed/ saw.

Lagos; if you used the Lagos IOM, please recommend the one that gave you almost no stress and how you went about it.
Benin center responded to my email, please send them an email they will respond and ask when you want to do the test.

The law isn’t only for graduate visa, it’s for every legal visa.

what that statement from gov.uk is saying in summary is that, Henceforth, only those in the UK (whether you are in now or would come in later before July 2028) can apply for care visa.

You can not apply for care visa from abroad!!!

I recall times I have been in the room where shortlisting of job applications was going on for my borough, with CVs being scrolled on the big screen.

In one of the roles: Children residential support worker, about 60% of the applicants were Nigerians, many with MBA, Masters in Law, international business management, project management etc with work experience only in adult care which is a no, no...this breaks my heart because the starting monthly gross pay is £2,856 for the 36hrs (4 days a week), when they work an extra day (9hrs) in a week as overtime, the gross pay for that 9hrs is about £247 and when the extra day is on a bank holiday or a Sunday, it will be about £330.

And there are tens of roles in Children and Family services that pay well e g Best Start for Life Officer, Parenting practitioner, Life Story Work Practitioner, Clinical Practitioner, Family Early Help Practitioner, etc.

Nigerians need to be more strategic.

Thank you so much for the real life experiences you've shared. Trust me, it will really help alot of people here. I applaud you sir!

What about the IT sector? Is that not in demand from the much you know? As I believe every sector should have an IT department or team.
Thank you.

The IT department (ours is called Digital Services) is wide in many boroughs as it services the residents of the borough, businesses and the borough's employees.

Why would i discourage people from coming to the UK? The person is coming to take my job? House or family? Any idea how many people i have helped to get into this country since 2009 without asking for a penny? I have never met a single one of them and have no interest in meeting them. Its extremely ignorant to think that people warning you about the danger ahead is trying to discourage you.
