Please I did my biometric on the 3rd of July and got an email from vfs global that my application has been forwarded to UKVI.

However, I didn't receive any email from UKVI to confirm the receipt of my application. Does it mean that UKVI has started processing my student visa?

Depending on the the years of experience or companies where you had your offshore experience. Also depending on your qualifications in the engineering as well. And most importantly your academic capability/ how good with your independent research.

STEM courses still have relatively more options than non STEM courses in the UK to be honest. For example almost all (didn't say all) of the eligible occupation (Especially graduate roles) in the TSL are directly/indirectly related to STEM.

I came to UK via global talent route and am a Chemical Scientist. More than 50% of the few people that got endorsement are from STEM. It's not everyone that will study STEM. Non STEM also have opportunities depending on experience but to be honest some courses are better.

It is not only in the UK, in the republic Ireland, they also publish gazette similar to that known as Critical skills list, in the US it's called economic importance. These Oyinbo people knows that they want for thier country

One candid advise from me to you guys is if you are not studying stem in the UK just look elsewhere in Europe. They blocked almost all path ways to permanent residence and if your course is international business and co look else where

Those coming through the study route should be more intentional about the courses they are opting for because it makes no sense studying courses that gives little or no chance of getting skilled worker visa.

Limiting this to my own field, I did my Msc. in Clinical Child Psychology and presently work in the children services of a London borough, under the safeguarding and corporate parenting unit.

Courses and work experience related to children, increases one's chances of getting a skilled worker visa as the demand for skilled workers in that sector is very high in both the private and public sector.

Its on shortage occupationblist the truth is wipp they pay you 41k as against their own citizen that can do the job cheap for any amount even for 25k. I guess no but if you know how to manipulate your way all the best

Why are people not looking into Early Childhood Education and Secondary School Educational with specific STEM courses to study. Teachers are valuable anywhere and should get CoS no?

What drives visa sponsorship is more often how skilled employers perceive you to be. The course you had your masters in ia often not the driving factor.

So you'll find a lot of nigerians who did their masters in a field many consider very strong in the labour market but due to the perceived lack of experience or weak experience, they couldnt break into their preferred sector and instead went into the care where experience is often not required for the job and sponsorship.

Also take note the skilled worker visa implies you have certain skill, which is what the homeoffice scrutinises when they issue the SW visa. An employer is unlikely to offer you a sponsored job when you have no experience or skill in that sector.

For instance, I am sponsored in a niche sector of financial services as a finance professional. Not many immigrants get sponsored here, because the UK has a lot of labour and expertise in this area and it is not an occupation short on candidates.

However, I was quite fortunate to have worked on certain projects while in Nigeria that was very close to projects my employer was embarking on back then. So, they were keen on having me on board. Note, I have no degree in accountancy or any related finance field - neither from the UK ot Nigeria.

So, I'll advise you to focus on a masters that complements your sellable experience or skill.

As the salary threshold keeps rising, so also will exployers expect more in terms of the skills or experience candidates seeking to be sponsored should bring to the table.

Many had/have the mindset of let me first enter the UK, with just any course then find my way from there, while some are genuinely not just aware of such opportunities.

I work in children and family services, I can boldly say boroughs across London are under staffed in that sector and continually recruiting.

But social worker is not included in the latest list of jobs qualified for COS... Even nurses are excluded... Going to UK through study is no longer viable

Still worth it if you don't plan to stay back but to use your 2 years post study gather money and come back home. The 2 years of work can give you good returns on invesent after study doing menial jobs

I have family ooo.... I was almost paying for my deposit when the latest immigration policy dropped,,I had to decline payment... Better to use that money where my family can benefit instead of wasting everything inside youkay...

Just consider a stem Course with more demand then you are good to go. Who knows if the impact of the policy will be felt negatively in the future, and they decided to relax it?
