My instinct is telling me that one elder here in investment (Oga Emma) has an eye on the ball (Ellahlakes)

And he's planning to hold it for 5years
If you be member of his ministry. You will be informed that thr are type of companies you don't associate that name with even in the dream..lol

If he sells it nothing will happen bro
My brother, there could be endless court cases and political action (e.g. protests) that may affect the transaction which may affect the share price.
The political risk will be too much and the whole thing may be revoked by another govt. the same way YarDua revoked the initial sale by OBJ.
If Oando would be involved, it should be part of a consortium e. g Aradel, Oando, Renaissance etc .

I'm so happy with the 30 percent capital gain tax. It is going to be a welcomed development.

Increase in taxation is very good for the economy although Nigerian politicians can never do away with their embezzlement mentality. cool
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 2:03pm On Jul 12, 2025
Did anyone say sell NNPC? It is only the refineries we are talking about. Selling them is not taboo. It was done by OBJ before.

mikeapollo:
There is no amount of open and transparent process that would convince the Nigerian masses if Tinubu should sell a national asset like NNPC to Oando, a company owned by his nephew.
The critical importance, controversies and corruption around fuel and petroleum products and the ignorance about business and corpotrate governance in Nugeria is too much.
Oando should not even bother to put in a bid if they love themselves.

Nigerians are going through hunger and serious poverty. I don't see that tax thing starting full in January 2026 as said. Our coalition is bringing it hot for this government and apc. They won't want to increase the anger in the land more before the election. They may pick some part and implement because of election

A stock trader with 50 million Naira trading capital is not a poor person in Nigeria.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by EDUECO(m): 2:11pm On Jul 12, 2025
EDUECO:
You started the year trading with 50 million Naira.

At the end of the year you turn your 50 million to 300 million Naira.

So,from the above ; your profit is around 250 million Naira.

30% of 250 million is 75 million Naira, then you will take 175 million.

The government will get 75 million Naira while you the monkey hunter(sorry trader) will get 175 million Naira .

I know the monkey hunters gang will not be happy with my analysis above grin

I see nothing wrong in paying 30% as capital gain tax to Nigeria; because without the Nigerian Stock Exchange, you wouldn't have been able to make such money.
Someone in this hypothetical case is not a poor person in Nigeria.

Some stock traders are even in a better position than this. cool

Return on Capital Employed (ROCE): ~30.4%

---

📌 Lafarge Africa (WAPCO) – FY 2024

ROE: ~21.3% (Dec 2024)

ROA: ~14.0%

ROCE: ~32.2%

---

📊 Ratio Comparison

Ratio Dangote Cement Lafarge Africa (WAPCO)

Gross Margin ~59% (Q1 2025) ~47.5% (Q1 comparable)
Operating/EBITDA Margin ~40% / 46% ~not available, but implied lower
Debt-to-Equity ~1.01× (100.6%) ~0.06× (very low leverage)
Interest Coverage ~4.1× ~878× (very comfortable)
ROE ~25.8% ~21.3%
ROCE ~30.4% ~32.2%

---

🔍 Key Insights

Profitability & efficiency: Dangote leads on profitability with higher margins across the board—gross (59% vs 47.5%), operating (~40%), and EBITDA (~46%).

Leverage: Dangote is far more leveraged (D/E ≈1.0) compared to Lafarge, which is essentially unleveraged (D/E ≈0.06). This gives Lafarge greater financial flexibility and lower risk.

Interest burden: Dangote’s interest coverage (~4×) is solid but modest versus Lafarge’s extremely low interest exposure.

Returns: Both generate strong returns on equity/capital (~20–30%), with Lafarge slightly ahead on ROCE thanks to light leverage.

Strategic tilt: Dangote’s aggressive expansion and debt-fueled investments drive scale and margins, while Lafarge’s conservative balance sheet yields stability and resilience.

---

Dangote Cement delivers superior margin performance and greater market leverage—but carries leverage risk.

Lafarge Africa offers lower risk, excellent returns, and a rock-solid balance sheet, though with more modest profitability.

Are you saying Oando is not fit and qualifed to run a refinery? Or just because its CEO is related to the President that disqualifies them? Oando has the capacity.. no scandal if a refinery is sold to them. Nothing will happen

Just reinvest, then take a two-week loan of the value that you need for personal use. Sell, repay the loan and leave the rest reinvested grin

IMO, the refineries are a hole in the pocket of the FG & NNPCL
