What if the 300m profits is reinvested in stocks will it be taxed ?
If you account grew from 50 to 300 million Naira within a year, you have invariably made a profit of 250 million Naira.

I believe the 75 million Naira tax due to the government will be debited against your trading account. cool.

Are you saying Oando is not fit and qualifed to run a refinery? Or just because its CEO is related to the President that disqualifies them? Oando has the capacity.. no scandal if a refinery is sold to them. Nothing will happen
I am referring to the potential issues of corruption, conflict of interest etc and how Oando may never be able to convince the populace and potential foreign investors that the deal was transparent, fair and above board .
And it could be revoked by a future president.

The refinery in far away Trinidad and Tobago is even generating a similar problem because the opposition party has already threatened not to recognise the deal when they come to power i.e they may revoke the deal

mikeapollo:
There is no amount of open and transparent process that would convince the Nigerian masses if Tinubu should sell a national asset like NNPC to Oando, a company owned by his nephew.
The critical importance, controversies and corruption around fuel and petroleum products and the ignorance about business and corpotrate governance in Nugeria is too much.
Oando should not even bother to put in a bid if they love themselves.
Correction: Those refineries are national liabilities, not assets.
I don't think the sale will happen before the elections for political reasons. So anyone speculating should be careful.

Did you read this news article ... a company can couldn't repay or manage 940 million loan... is seeking 250billion

They should issue commercial paper least see if they can repay since company like Dangote, Fidson, Mecure industries are all issuing commercial paper Ellah Lakes should issue commercial paper ....

Princkez:
don't worry about the new investor because the money is already down...please wait till after the egm .

If a new government revokes the agreement then they'll pay heavy damages..

Correction:
Those refineries are assets, not liabilities.
Anything that has value and would give you money when you sell is an asset
They have become "liabilities" because of our corruption, mismanagement and probably incompetence.
Those refineries would work perfectly if the original builders ( i.e. foreign engineers) should take over and run them.

The new law says if fully reinvested in the same financial yr.No CGT.
If part is reinvest. The part not reinvest will be taxed based on profit on it
For me na to dey reinvest and collect from dividend which is only 10% WHT as final tax
I think this is fantastic! So continuous reinvestment is going to pay the trader in the long run; this is an indefinite compounding of your starting capital.

Do they care? They still can do it just because iof politics or vendetta especially a vindictive govt.
Afterall they would not use their personal funds to pay the damages

Thank you Chairman. However WAPCO is different, we might not witness a drop in price as far as they keep bringing out good results.

Just checkout their recent result and you would be very impressed with their fundamentals.

Myself keyed in to enjoy the dividends, and the proposed buyout is Jara.

People rushed to sell off Oando because they are not expecting any dividend anytime soon.

My brother, there could be endless court cases and political action (e.g. protests) that may affect the transaction which may affect the share price.
The political risk will be too much and the whole thing may be revoked by another govt. the same way YarDua revoked the initial sale by OBJ.
If Oando would be involved, it should be part of a consortium e. g Aradel, Oando, Renaissance etc .
The politicisation will touch the High Heavens. The debates in the National Assembly will descend to physical blows.

"Industry Experts" will materialize and testify that there was never anything wrong with the Refinery. It was perfectly sound, and deliberately "junked" in order to strip it to Oando, then delist the whole thing to the private.

Phisical blows will be exchanged in the National Assembly, debating the sale.
