You don't stand a chance because your University is a Tier 2. You need a PGDE to be able to assess as a teacher.
Had it been, you graduated from Unilag, OAU, FUTA, it would have been fine.
Teedeechian:
Bsc.ed Geography Education
Olabisi Onabanjo University
2.2
Teaching practice in a secondary school
Ministry of Education for Nysc.

Do I stand a chance for positive assessment?

1. So I need to do a PGDE in one of the 3 universities you listed?

2. What if I have earn a masters from the 3 universities you listed?

1. The PGDE can be from any university
2. Masters in Education? Negative

Read the below scenarios as posted my @tunlex01:

For Teachers Assessment with AITSL
*SC means scenario, ITE means Initial Teacher education
SC1: B.Ed from Tier 1 University = positive assessment. ( AQF 7 + ITE)
SC2: B.Ed from Tier 2 University (4 year course) + Pgde =positive assessment (AQF 6 + ITE)
SC3: B.Ed from Tier 2 University (4 year course) + M.Ed = negative ( AQF 6)
SC4: BSc or B.A from Tier 2 University (4 years course) + Pgde =positive assessment (AQF6 +ITE)
SC5: BSc or B.A from Tier 2 University (4 years course) + M.Ed =negative assessment (AQF 6 ,no ITE) not even possible to get M.ed without a pgde.
SC6: BTech/BEng from Tier 2 University (5 years course) + Pgde =positive assessment (AQF 6 + ITE)
SC7: BTech/BEng from Tier 2 University (5 years course) + M.Ed =negative (not possible without first doing pgde. No ITE, AQF 6)
SC8: BSc/BA/BTech/BEng from a Tier 1 University + Pgde =positive (AQF 7 + ITE)
SC9: Bsc/BA/BTech/BEng from a Tier 1 University + MEd = negative (not possible without first undergoing pgde)
SC10: B.Ed from Tier 2 university - negative assessment

No you don't stand a chance.
a 4 year course for OOU is assessed as AQF 6 by AITSL.
You need a PGDE to assess as a teacher.

Yes you do qualify.
You can apply as a Teacher. but in what field only you know.
You have a degree in Education, which is what the teaching field requires.
and you also have one year teaching practice.
And Teachers are in high demand.

First of, you need to find occupation you can assess based on your experience, thereafter we can analyse if you qualify or not.
Was your course 4 or 5 years?

Guide to check your occupation and ANZSCO code:
From a laptop/desktop

Visit https://www.anzscosearch.com/search/
You may need to register on the website to view the details below
Desktop:
1. Select ‘Lists’ at the top of the webpage.
2. Click 'Skilled Occupation List'
3. You will see about 500 occupations on the list.
4. Keep scrolling till you find occupation(s) that align to what you do.
5. Click the 6 digits ‘ANZSCO' code on the left. It will load the full page
6. Select 'ANZSCO' and scroll to tasks.
7. Check if the tasks relate to what you do.

Mobile device
Click the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines)
Select 'Lists' > 'Lists 2023-24' > Skilled Occupation List
Follow steps 3-7 above.

You may find more than 1 occupation.
Revert here with the occupation(s) and the Anzsco code(s)

Hello everyone,

I’ve been following this page anonymously for some time and just decided to join to share my challenge.

Please Read

-I graduated with an HND in Civil Engineering in 2017.
-Worked as a civil engineer for one year and 6 months, no pay slip, and tax, only bank statement.
-Switched career and started working as a Cyber Security analyst officially in October 2021. Pay slips, bank statement, and proof of tax payment are all available.
-In April 2024, I got a BSc in Computer Science from a University in Benin Republic to complement my new career.
-I also went back to complete my top-up program, which I abandoned due to my career switch, and got my BSc in Building Technology in February 2025.

My degree program in Benin Republic was a three-year university program, and my present work experience, where I can provide payslips and bank statements proving my employment, is a total of 3 years & 10 months as I write.

Key Questions
⦁ Can my BSc in computer science be assessed as AQF comparable?
⦁ If yes, will my years of experience start counting after April 2024, when I acquired the degree?
⦁ Can my HND be useful in this instance?
⦁ Also, I have a cybersecurity vendor certification that is accepted by ACS, would that have any effect (positive) in my assessment?

Additional Information
• Age: 30
• Marital Status: Single
• Current Role: L3 - Cyber Security Analyst

I’d appreciate advice from experienced professionals who have navigated similar challenges. Any guidance would be invaluable.

Hey everyone! I'm new here and looking to kick off my immigration process with Engineers Australia.
I'm 26, graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABUAD.
Right now I work in tech, but I have almost 2 years of experience working in a power plant.

I’m a bit confused here:
Can I use any of the Accords for assessment? I understand that coren is not a full signatory to the Washington accord, and can anyone clarify me about the Competency Demonstration Report (CDR), What it's about and who is eligible for it?

Would appreciate any help—thanks!

Good evening seniors

Please I am 35yrs,
Married with family of 4,
B.Sc industrial Mathematics
Professional Diploma in Education PDE,
TRCN Certificate,
4years experience as a secondary school teacher in public school,
Master Diploma in human resources management (online program from Skill Development Council Canada)

Please am I eligible for 491?
Can a married person applied for the stream?
I don't have relative in Australia, do I need to have a relative to apply?

I have evaluated my B.Sc for ECA but for Canada, can I use it?
Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by MJJ: 3:03pm On Jul 06, 2025
This response is probably late or not needed anymore.
My employer's name was stated on the certificate, and if this certificate is to be submitted to EA I believe that is exactly what your assessor wants to see. How about a Tax card? If LIRS confirms the card will have your employer's name i think you should go with that.

GraduatesGrant:
Hello all,
Thanks to everyone for their contributions regarding my Enquiry this far.
I just confirmed that my employer never remitted my taxes during my period of employment.
LIRS said the only option I have is to get the self assessment meaning the name of my employer won't be on the tax certificate.

Attached is a sample of the self assessment tax clearance document. Please those who did theirs, was your employer (company name) stated on the tax clearance document?
Since this is my only option, do I stand a chance if I go with the self assessment as shown in the attachment?

Your input (s) will help me make my decision at this point.

Regards.

Hello,
Please I need assistance as regards migration to Australia.
I have a b.tech from lautech (5 years)
PGDE from NTI
Masters degree from unilag
6 years teaching experience
Ielts academic L8. 5, R 8, S8 W 7.5
Now my major bone of contention is the 45 days supervised teaching practice by AITSL. NTI only gives a letter for 6 weeks. Who has been a similar situation and how did you navigate it?

First of, Computer Science is not the 'it' occupation anymore. You need a high score to get a nomination.
In your case, a 3 year degree from Benin Republic will not be equivalent to an AQF 7 which means you need to have at least 6 years experience to get a positive assessment because a qualification in Computer science is not closely related to Cyber security.

You may want to consider getting employment in building related occupation.

You can only do CDR since you graduated from a Nigerian university. Please read the CDR page on EA website.

Yes you are eligible for 189, 190 and 491 depending on your points.
Yes, a married person can apply for any of the 3 visas above.
You dont need a family in Australia to apply for 491 (Skilled regional visa stream). You only need a family member to appyl for the Family-Sponsored visa.

ECA does not have anything to do with Australia.
You will need to assess with AITSL.
Did you do your teaching practice in a secondary school for at least 45 days?

You can only know that when the states open for nomination and they release their nomination requirements for the year.
This changes every year.
So your best bet is to monitor the state migration websites and sign up for their newsletter too.

DevSecOps:
Hi boss, I’m back again.

So, I started a Master’s program at a renowned Nigerian university in 2021, which I had to pause due to travel. I was originally expected to graduate in 2022. I’ve since discussed with the school, and I’m currently back on the program. I’m on track to complete it in 2026.

Also, my wife and I have agreed that she will complete her BSc in Public Health in Nigeria (she had earlier transferred to pursue Nursing here). She’s also expected to finish in 2026.

We’ve both written the IELTS exam. By the time we complete our studies in 2026, I’ll be 30 years old, and she’ll be 23.

By then, I’ll also have completed 2 years of verifiable work experience.

Our updated profiles by 2026:

My Profile:
• MSc in Computer Science
• 2 years of verifiable work experience as a DevOps Engineer
• IELTS score: 8.5 across all four bands
• Age: 30 (in 2026)

My Wife’s Profile:
• BSc in Public Health
• IELTS score: 7.0 across all four bands
• Age: 23 (in 2026)
• No work experience

Question:
With this profile by 2026, what are our chances for immigration?
please how did you get 8.5 in ielts in all sections. Help me please

For AITSL assessment, TP must be at least 45 days and the class you teach determines the occupation you nominate.
If you taught a senior class like SSS1-3, you can choose Secondary School Teacher and so on

Have you read at least the first 10 pages of the thread? If you did, the answer you seek lies in there.

I think your current worry should be sorting out the skills assessment. You can apply for any of the visa depending on the points you can get.
