Mankind2024:
What's your investment objective? What's your risk appetite? How would you handle a 50% portfolio drop on a red day? What's the source of your investment funds - salary, savings, or business?
Educate yourself before investing your hard-earned money in stocks.

Hmnn, thank you
Financial freedom is my main objective, being able to live off dividends, currently have a MMF running with ~20% returns annually which you know is quite passive, looking to diversify and get more active that's why I have chosen stocks, source of funds is savings and salary.
No one prays for a red day and seeing portfolio doen by 50%, it's a reason why I've decided to commit an almost negligible portion (1%) from cash accessible to learn the ropes and study the market for a start...

Okay
How do I start with Morgan's capital as a broker, do they have an initiation fee to start with as a new customer?
No, your first buys are your initiation fee.

The customer Care unit will only lead you through certain simple initiation rituals. Fear not.

That ship has sailed, I'm sitting handsomely @Morgans capital
It is still advisable that you confirm the calculation by yourself in case a similar issue comes up again with the new broker.

Now you remember fundamentals? What was fundamentally supporting the stock at N3, N4, N5, etc., with zero revenue?

Since fundamentals don't matter, let's go to the moon!

ositadima1:
...
Remember, fundamentally, at ₦12.60 per share, the company should either be paying around 90 kobo in dividends or generating free cash flow close to ₦3 billion, given its current outstanding shares.

Don’t get carried away — take profit while you can. lipsrsealed

Good morning brothers and sisters, please help with a phone number to reach Morgan capital. I have sent mail for updating Afriprud bonus to the trading account and no response. It is in my CSCS account.

Sis Mcy and other great people, help.
Thank you all.

I’ve already answered this question here — many times. And every time I do, it ends in an argument.

If you still don’t want to understand that a stock can move based on projected earnings, then just look the other way. Why bother yourself with it? Do what you understand and leave these kinds of plays to those who truly understand them — along with the risks involved.

EllahLakes, like many other companies — think Tesla or even Amazon — started off burning cash with little visible revenue. Yet people priced them based on future return potential. It took years before they began turning a profit. It’s a risky venture, yes, but as I’ve also pointed out, risk can be mitigated.

Now, my opinion — based on both technical and fundamental analysis — is that EllahLakes may have priced in much of its upside for now, and a correction is possible.

If you still don’t get it, no need to respond. Again, focus on what you understand — the NGX is big enough for all of us.

Why Nigerian refineries don't work is basically corruption. Corrupt officials from Presidents down to refinery mangers and oil import cabals collude with European refiners and IOCs to ensure the refineries do not work.

mikeapollo:
A lot of refineries around the world are older than our refineries and they are still functioning and producing

with the way ELLAHLAKES was analysed below, I'll buy more as soon as I hit cash.

https://africanfinancials.com/document/ng-ellahl-2025-ir-q3/
This was my post on 30th may when Ellah was around 3 . If you don't buy now you will likely buy much more higher than the current price. The force behind the upward movement will likely continue their work this week and next week, in order to present a higher price per share during the EGM that would hold next week Friday being 25 July. The best time to take advantage of making money in a stock is when there're uncertainties sorrounding such stock. IF YOU KNOW THIS GAME, YOU KNOW. grin grin grin Don't join those market children whose faces are like this

Heard GTCO just issued new shares at 70 naira. Can I buy at this price from my stockbroking app afrinvest?
No, it has moved beyond that price. To think that GTCO was advertising and begging everyone to buy at 45 naira not too long ago during their rights issue.
Their offer in the local market was undersubscribed, so they went international to raise the rest.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 9:34am On Jul 14, 2025
Age, a major criteria, is relative.

We've already spent more than it cost to build Dangote Refiney from the scratch.

Those refineries you're referring to have been upgrading their systems over time so the maintenance doesn't break a sweat.

It's like trying to upgrade the OS of an Android 3 device to Android 14... smiley

mikeapollo:
A lot of refineries around the world are older than our refineries and they are still functioning and producing
GeneralDae:
Exactly. I don’t think the old age is the problem. I think the fact that some of them have not been operating for decades is the problem. The longer a refinery (old or new) stays out of operation, the more difficult it is to revive it.
Refining is quite complex.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 9:36am On Jul 14, 2025
You already addressed it succinctly grin
chimex38:
I believe older refineries maintain and upgrade from time to time to still be in business with compatible technologies as time goes on.

the way I see our refineries now(assumptions):

NEW HOUSE(5-7yrs)
Cost of building a new house--₦20m.

EXISTING OLD HOUSE(2-3yrs)
cost of renovation of old worn out house -₦15m.
*Upgrade with 21st century Technologies -₦7m.

*=>upgrade isnt guaranteed to be a seamless integration and compatible with very old functional mechanical equipments.

hitches and glitches here and there affecting operations.
Therefore to upgrade means to get a total modern equipment overall that integrates with IT tech upgrades.

More like try upgrading an Android 4.0 device to Android 16?
It's not gonna work. OS alone with eat up the entire storage system of any phone in that era of 4.0.(if it enters at all grin)
The versioning is so wide apart.

Even whatsapp and other techs stop upgrades to older software versions from time to time. They don't keep integrating.
Meaning?==> get a new phone.
So sell-off the Refineries.

I believe the former NNPC Govt knew this. Hence the new PH refinery being built beside this rusticated one.

Lol. It's not that serious. All na yarns. I'm happy for people who made money in Ellah, and hoping they -- especially the ones with limited means -- are smart enough to know when their luck runs out.

So this is just opinion? "...fundamentally, at ₦12.60 per share, the company should either be paying around 90 kobo in dividends or generating free cash flow close to ₦3 billion." What informs the logic? Why didn't it apply at N8 per share?
