NGX reveals how over N4.63 trillion was raised in H1 2025 https://nairametrics.com/2025/07/17/ngx-reveals-how-over-n4-63-trillion-was-raised-in-h1-2025/ |

In recent times, I've been reading about the fabricated greed index on the NGX. This isn't new; from time immemorial, doom sayers have always been devising mischievous ways to scare investors from the market. As I always say, no one has a crystal ball to know what the market will do tomorrow. Agbalowomeri, the technical analyst, can attest to this. The NGX bourse absolutely and effectively rendered all his tools of market predictions ineffective for three straight years. A quick reminder is the recent sell-off of banking stocks on the NGX following a news outbreak that some tier-one banks were under regulatory forbearance. This is what market manipulators want, and it was achieved. Within a few days, the market returned to green. Zenith Bank, which was panic-sold by uninformed investors on June 16, 2025, at a low of N42, is currently trading over N70. At the peak of the DJT tariff war, my NYSE portfolio lost over $12,000 within a month, but the recovery was magnificent. At the peak of the Israel-Iran war, some people panic-sold their stocks in anticipation of a market crash, albeit the market waxed stronger during and after the 12-day war. In all this, I remained invested. Reviewing my local and foreign portfolios today was a thing of joy, all because I trust the market. As I keep saying, there will always be volatility in the market. Volatility is not a crash; it's a way the market autocorrects itself. The so-called greed index has never taken into consideration the ravaging inflation, devaluation, high interest rates, and subsidy removal that were unleashed on the Nigerian economy simultaneously. Now that the economy is recovering gradually, listed companies are doing well, and some businesses are minting money through commercial papers and rights issues. Some doom sayers would still argue that no Nigerian bank should be trading at $0.1 or N160.00 due to over-dilution of outstanding shares. To worsen the situation, many are now praying for a market crash, similar to what Warren Buffett was expecting, which made Berkshire Hathaway disinvest from AI and technology stocks. Today, BRKA and BRKB are severely underperforming the S&P 500. If there's any anticipated market crash on the NGX, as forecasted by the doom sayers, it should be for the greedy traders who invested in junk stocks. It appears things might get worse for junk stocks traders by the time Q2 reports start being released. Another proverbial post I often encounter on this forum is the story of putting a frog into a vessel filled with water and starting to heat the water. As the temperature rises, the frog adjusts its body temperature accordingly. However, when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog can't adjust anymore and decides to jump out but is unable to do so because it has lost all its strength. What killed the frog? Many would say the boiling water, but the truth is the frog's own inability to decide when to jump out. We need to adjust to people and situations, but we must know when to adjust and when to move on. There are times when we need to face situations and take appropriate actions. If we allow people to exploit us, they will continue to do so. Let's decide when to jump while we still have the strength. For investors with SMART goals, there's nowhere to jump to, rather than to invest more. The fundamental difference lies in having a sound strategy. Traders can jump at will, just like they jumped into junk stocks and got trapped. A fundamentally sound company will always stand the test of a market crash. A good example is the global market crash of 2019/2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many investors dumped their portfolios at low prices, but those who invested in fundamentally sound companies were better off. The moral of this write-up is that investors should seize the day and join the train of fundamentally sound stocks. The price of an NGX stock you consider overvalued today might actually be the low of tomorrow. Stop timing the market; invest your funds, trust the market, and let time do its magic. Ignore the noise, hype, and panic generated by traders of junk stocks to confuse inexperienced investors. Wishing all investors a successful investing second half of 2025. |

Let me burst your bubble on DEAPCAP 1. They have a debt of ₦2.525 billion (non-bank creditors) which will be converted to equity at ₦1.69. 2. They have another debt of about ₦1.58 billion resulting from AMCON bailing them out of bad loans (this has not been mentioned so far). 3. The deferred income has been received in advance so it increases their liability (until the goods/service is rendered). Every mallam to his kettle... mikeapollo: |

We Are Not Enemies With People We Disagree With on Social Media: Recently at a Nigerian airport, I ran into one of the pastors who publicly wrote against me in those days when I used to speak up against commercialisation of the gospel. I used to be tough in those days - tougher than Daddy Freeze or anyone you know today. So some pastors didn’t like my teachings. I was opening many eyes and causing havoc in the ministry. So expectedly, I was also attacked. But I knew that IT WAS NOTHING PERSONAL. But many followers don’t realise that their leaders are not enemies with those they criticise. So at the airport, I met Evang Gospel Agochukwu. We were sitting next to each other and we didn’t know. I took a second look at him and mentioned his name. He then realised it was me and said “Uncle Charles, is this you”. He immediately digged into his travelling bag and brought out some money. I declined. He insisted on giving me a prophetic seed - he literally forced the money into my bag 😂. I refused the offering initially not because I was angry but because I left the pulpit and now do business. I no longer think I qualify to take seeds and tithes like i used to take in those days. But Apostle Agochukwu had his way. We laughed and hugged each other. I loved his spirit and today, I can call him my brother even though he chose to save my contact as UNCLE CHARLES. That money helped me to bless the less privileged people at the airport. You need to see me sharing money like father christmas and those who received the money felt blessed too. It was my first time touching NAIRA in many years. Covid made me to stop touching cash. I retained all the hygiene lessons we learnt during Covid - including keeping a sanitiser at the entrance of my home 😂. So if you meet me and I don’t have cash, now you know why. Here’s the conclusion: I may disagree with a political or religious leader or someone may disagree with me - we may even block each other. But if anything bad happens to that person, IT TOUCHES ME still. Most of my closest friends are still pastors - they support me the most today . I don’t block people because I don’t like them - I block them to save them from my daily rants since it is impossible for me to stop ranting. I believe in humanity - I have no class mentality, I’m not religious and I don’t do tribalism or rac|sm. Nobody is a big man or poor man before me. There is no yoruba or hausa to me. Christianity and islam do not divide people around me. I respect everyone as humans. I love as many that love me. But I also hate those who take advantage of my love and kindness without adding value to me. If you understand this, you will understand my constructive criticism of anyone. For those who don’t know, NNAMDI KANU IS MY GRAND MATERNAL KINSMAN. My grand mother is from his HOMETOWN. He is my “NNA M OCHIE” according to culture. I love him as a person just as I loved Buhari as a human but disagree with their politics or approach to political problems. Some of my family members are sympathetic to Nnamdi just as my father once campaigned for Okezie Ikpeazu whom I campaigned against. Nothing personal - just different views but we should differ RESPECTFULLY. |

Megapower:Oh! I meant the name Otedola alone is making people to rush and buy The full bid part should have been the pointer there. Hope we didn't see some people throwing away that FBN shares cheaply o * From my yesterday's post or thereabout, I still mentioned that the rate at which FBN will overtake UBA won't get part 2...... Something like that. After UBA, ZENITH will be the next target. Lol. |

KarlTom:In this day and age of raising huge capital a la Ellah, don't be surprised if they do a private placement or some other form of capital raise.. just saying... Hypothetically that should rally up price even if it's just sentiment based.. up till now, it's been sentiment or expectation that has driven the price surge.
