emmanuelewumi:Yes I remember then.i equally bought afolabi units of presco at that price in one of my portfolio .I was buying even close to 1k and since then I stopped. I was expecting pull back that has refused to happen and not likely to happen again unless we have serious bear market. The Ghana deal will definitely improve more of the numbers |

Streetinvestor2:I erroneously assumed that after an acquisition, a business’s financials will take a hit for a few quarters (since they will have used their balance sheet to acquire another company)….similar to what was happening with Access. I then thought to wait before buying Presco….terrible assumptions. |

Aliko Dangote’s refinery is getting even bigger. Africa’s richest man has confirmed plans to expand the Dangote Refinery’s capacity from 650,000 to 700,000 barrels per day by the fourth quarter of 2025, a boost backed by upgrades and a surge in U.S. crude imports. Currently, a key unit of the refinery, the Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) unit, is running at 85% efficiency, converting heavy oil into high-demand fuels like diesel and LPG. Meanwhile, the refinery has purchased 19 million barrels of U.S. crude in June and July alone, meeting over half of its monthly demand. Since opening, the $19 billion refinery has helped cut Nigeria’s fuel imports significantly and is now pushing further into natural gas and fertilizer production.

Warren Buffett imparted his unique viewpoint on success, underscoring the significance of love and respect over the accumulation of wealth. Buffett, while interacting with students at Georgia Tech, expressed that the ultimate yardstick of success is not wealth, but the love and respect one garners from others. In his biography “The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life,” Buffett’s insights suggest that the real measure of a successful life is the love one receives from those they hold dear. He pointed out that numerous affluent individuals receive public acclaim, but lack genuine love and respect from others. Buffett’s viewpoint challenges the traditional definition of success, which frequently highlights personal accomplishment and wealth accumulation. He contends that a concentration on caring for others, rather than oneself, leads to greater success in areas that truly count, such as trust, respect, loyalty, and meaningful impact. Buffett’s message is especially relevant in the current climate of division and widespread burnout. He proposes that a leader’s legacy is not determined by their professional accomplishments, but by how they treat others. Buffett’s philosophy of success, centered around love and respect, provides a fresh perspective in a world often ruled by self-interest and competition. Buffett’s unconventional perspective on success is a timely reminder of the importance of empathy and respect in a world often driven by materialistic pursuits. His philosophy underscores the significance of human connections and the value of earning love and respect from others. This approach, centered around love and respect, offers a refreshing perspective in a world often dominated by self-interest and competition. It serves as a reminder that success is not just about wealth accumulation, but also about the positive impact one can have on others. |

Don't romanticize, canonize or eulogize poverty. There's no virtue in poverty. Relate cordially with people here/elsewhere who are willing to assist you on your path to MEGAWEALTH. Avoid negative minded people if possible BLOCK them especially MENTALLY. Above all EMBRACE WORKABLE KNOWLEDGE, BE DILIGENT, BE INTENTIONAL, BE PATIENT and always ask questions for DIRECTIONS. GIVE IT TIME. YOUR MEGAWEALTH is SURE in JESUS CHRIST name!!! |

What are we expecting from some of these companies (like japaul, Ellah and others) that want to raise funds, can they fix a price higher or lower than their current quoted price on the exchange? I mean based on old experience of the companies which did fund raising before. |

Learn from this... Dunstan Low had a beautiful home worth $1 million, but despite his best efforts, no one wanted to buy it. Instead of lowering the price or giving up, he took a bold and creative risk: he launched a public raffle where anyone could buy a ticket for just $1. What started as a desperate move quickly became a viral phenomenon. People from all over the world bought tickets hoping to win a mansion for the price of a coffee. In total, Low sold 2 million tickets and raised $2 million, twice what he originally asked for. He gave the home away to one lucky winner in a dramatic live television event. Not only did he offload the house, but he also inspired a new way of thinking about real estate. Sometimes, the solution isn’t lowering the price, it’s raising the stakes.

stockish:Yes, they can, but most commonly, the offer price is set LOWER than the current market price. This is done strategically to encourage existing and new investors to participate. • Based on Past Experience in Nigeria Here’s what usually happens in practice: 1. Rights Issues A rights issue allows existing shareholders to buy more shares at a discounted price. Example: If a company’s current market price is ₦1.20, the rights issue may be priced at ₦0.90 or ₦1.00. This discount serves as an incentive for shareholders to take up the rights. 2. Private Placements / Public Offers These can also be priced below market price to attract institutional or high-net-worth investors. In some rare cases, especially when investor confidence is high, the company may price at or slightly above the market price, particularly if there’s a strong growth story or strategic acquisition behind the fundraising. 📌 Examples from the Nigerian Market • Transcorp Hotels (2020) Conducted a rights issue at ₦3.76/share, while the market price was about ₦4.85/share — a clear discount. • UBA Rights Issue (2014) Priced at ₦4.00, below the then-market price of around ₦5.00, to encourage uptake. • Ellah Lakes (Planned Capital Raise 2021–2024) Their previous announcements suggested plans for private placements to strategic investors. Though pricing details weren't always disclosed publicly, market watchers expected them to offer at a discount to market price due to low liquidity and risk appetite. • Japaul Gold & Ventures In 2020–2021, Japaul made attempts to raise funds to support its transition into mining. While no major rights issue was concluded, any pricing would likely have been at a discount, given the speculative nature of its stock and investor caution. • Key Regulatory Guidelines (NGX/SEC Nigeria) SEC Approval Required: The SEC must approve the pricing, and the company must justify it. Fair Valuation: A fairness opinion or valuation report is often required if the price differs significantly from market. Shareholder Approval: Especially for private placements, shareholders must approve the price and structure. |

Mfunkynation:Lol, many people pointed it out—myself included. I told the guys in DangSugar back then to get out because of all the issues. I also disclosed that I was entering Presco as a much better alternative. I've more than doubled since then. How are the sugar guys doing now? When the dust settles someday, I’ll be back with you on sugar, lol. |

megawealth01:Lol. It may be sarcastically true It may be a reverse directional flow: those abroad may want to return because their little foreign currency cash can afford them millions of naira to enjoy life and flex, while those living in the country will want to run abroad in desperation to escape harsh poverty in the country. I don't know what some of these politicians smoke/drink or what they take citizens for. |

Now back to my hobby — take a look at EllahLakes. If you're in profit, take profit. I didn’t say sell off completely, just take some profit. There are sellers waiting around ₦12, and they’ll crash it again as soon as buyers build up. Fundamentally, it has overshot. I’m particularly interested in this one because I started the current EllahLakes movement here, and it's only honorable to point out hiccups when I see them — unlike some people who only talk about entry, but never talk about exit. ![]() |
