Audacius:
IN-HOUSE DICTIONARY OF ACRONYMS and TERMS (updated 26/07/2025)

NSEMPA: Nigeria Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts – Name of the thread.

BNSTIL: A very old NSEMPA shorthand for "Brothers and Sisters in the Lord".

FA: Fundamental Analysis – Stock analysis done with fundamentals of a stock such as financial statements and other economic indicators.

TA: Technical Analysis – Stock analysis done with using some technical tools and charts.

GA: Gut Analysis – From claims of having “gut feelings” about how a stock will move.

SA: Spiritual or Sentimental Analysis – From sentimental attachment to a stock and claims of spiritual insight into the future of a stock.

FUGAZ: Acronym for First Bank, UBA, GTCO, Accesscorp and Zenith. Conisdered highly capitalizaed banks.

MH: Monkey hunting/ Monkey hunter – An allegation/accusation that a stock is being manipulated either by calls to buy or sell off. The "monkey hunter" then profits by buying more or selling off their holdings when prices move in their favour.
Background: From story of a businessman who goes to a village to buy monkeys. He buys at different intervals at ever higher prices thus creating a market for monkeys along with artificial scarcity. He ends up selling off all the monkeys back to the villagers who hoped there will always be market for monkey sale. He disappears after selling at the highest price and all the villagers had monkeys with no one to sell to, losing all their money in the bid. Author of the real story unknown. It is posted here once in a while.

SMN: stockmarketnewsnigeria [dot] com. A now-defunct website exclusively created for stock discussions like here. Was probably owned by owners of Nairaland.

Cowboys: CEOs of notable companies who are considered to display manipulative business tactics.

Men in Black: An old NSEMPA term for deep pocket investors who can cause stock price movement because of the volume they trade.

One Afolabi Unit: 2,000 units of any stock.
Background: I can’t recall. Someone should kindly provide the story behind the “Afolabi units” term.

JIJO: Jump in, Jump out. Term used by traders. Means buying a stock and selling at the very shortest term especially as soon as it makes some gains.

Tashere Units: Very few numbers of shares bought or left unsold. Amount depends on the person. Such shares are either bought or left in the portfolio to have a "foot in the door”, e.g. so as not to have to process e-dividend all over again or just to see how the stock will perform.

Loot: A gloating or bragging term for large profit from short term trade. A jackpot from JIJO. (As described by @Zendi)

Bull from Burundi: A way to describe noticeable general rise in the prices of stocks. An apparent play on the words bull and Burundi.

Stockfish: The newest NSEMPA term. (c. 2024) Used to denote a stock that is considered as having lost value so much that it is nearly worthless and a trap for whoever buys it. A play on shares as a financial instrument and fish in the market.

NOTA BENE
- Some of these are standard investment terminologies (FA, TA, FUGAZ), others grew out of constant conversations and banters and created by members here or brought from SMN. I cannot recall who started using what term. All rights reserved to them.
- This compilation is just a contribution to render this thread easier to understand for new readers. It will be reposted periodically when cited to aid new readers. Kindly correct, modify, clarify and add.

Thanks.

Also, special thanks to: Zendi, Sunrisepebble.

Royalex a trending stock for Loco in second half of 2025.

Royalex operates in the financial services sector of NGX.The sector is currently experiencing increased trading activity indicating a positive market sentiment

Other stocks listed in same sector with Royalex are Ucap, Afriprud,Deap cap,NGX,Fcmb, and stanbic.

The recent tradings in Royalex in the last 3 months is dominated by the activities of institutional investors.

Royalex is a stock to watch as their investment and finance arm is set to deliver maximum returns to the group.

It has to rise above some insurance companies in the coming weeks/months.

chimex38:
If one follows what's happening in the Power sector, one would understand a bit.

GenCos are being owed debts of up to 4trn by FG from 2015. Part of these debts are also GenCos own parables to the gas suppliers..

Regional regulation of Power sector is threatening this payment as Other states REC are also in the process of doing same including almighty

This implies that their account receivables will remain bloated for the time being.
The little profit they make is even quite remarkable but they have to maintain equipments, import equipment for upgrade and pay off some inevitable gas supply debt if they want to still function as an entity and offset some debts and liabilities. So any little profit in any Quarter is ploughed back into the business..

The latest good news in the sector is the proposed issuance of Debt-bond by the Govt via the DMO specifically to settle govt accrued debt to GenCos. Learnt Tinubu was present with the GenCos.

If this is done, I believe cash flow will increase and presumably dividend and capital appreciation as well..
Though their recent profitability are being threatened by this large-scale slash of electricity tariff state-wide started by Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) in Enugu on Band A from 206kwh to 160kwh(22%). Other states including Lagos that consumes about 30%-40% of Nigerians entire wheeled capacity are also planning same.
this is angering and affecting the GenCos including Transpower(and probably transcorp by extension).

Discos remit part payment to TCN to the GenCos Via NBET(i think escrow of some sort).
So their already meagre percentage % debt repayment whose bulk comes from Band A tariff is being threatened if tariffs are slashed.

Institutional investors know this is no fault of theirs as the sector Is still largely centralised. I believe that's why the SP is just there. No relative upward or downward surge.
Chai! Problem😥😥

In 2016, Tony Elumelu called Seyi Vodi to his office in Ikoyi.

He was to have a session with UBA global leadership.

All the about 20 regional CEOs of UBA across Africa were there.

Tony asked him to take their measurements. 3 kaftan each.

Cost was over N1m per CEO.

That was 9 years ago!

A tailor that was that big and the preferred/trusted clothier of a fashionista billionaire for his leadership team far back 2016, is the one whose work is being dismissed as shady because you are just hearing about him in 2025.

Well, i agree but the truth is they are burning too much cash and diluting too much for the expected revenue.
During my calculation, They were burning on average less than 1b naira negative free cash flow per year.
So, if they claimed to have burn 4b so far within this fiscal year, that amount is enough to run the farm for 4 years and not just a short period.
Last year was around 600m negative cashflow (total cost of running the farm)
In 2020 - 440m was used to run the farms and 2.2b to buy PPEs). total burnt 2.6b
In 2023 - 490m was used for OCF + 16.7m in PPE. Total burnt 510m
in 2024 - 286m used on OCF + 212m in PPE). Total 498m
Q3/25 - so far so good, in the past 9m of 2025 FY, they have spent 507m on daily running farm operations and another 212m in capital expenditure) Total is 719m.
So how come they are have been burning billions, billions and more billions to come running the company?
If you calculate the amount shareholders have invested so far in equity since 2022 plus director's loans converted so far, it is enough to run the farm till maturity.
Maybe i am wrong though
I am trying to apply some common sense here: huh huh

A lot of clues to what to expect? Not good am afraid! Even if better in days to come. But not good as of NOW..
1. Evidence of Increasing cost of running the concern....CEO’s remarks
2. Had not enough cash at hand even at the EGM ...probably still nothing being generated or grossly inadequate…CEO’s remark
Implied the mill is not running yet since low on cash. Or, the sell of ffb wasn't enough to cover immediate costs.
3. Probably Directors sold off part of their shares at the market to raise funds for the company…or they gave cash… that they gave cash is very unlikely.
4. If shares were sold off to raise cash for the company, those who sold might have sold to get back same units at the future price…so that it wont affect their initial holding
5. If the Directors raised cash as cash loan, then why the reference to stock price of 2.80?
6. Issue before SEC could either be were the stocks option traded…type of transaction or merely raised cash at that then current price or just gave the company cash to run the business as a loan? Not sure which of these or any of which is legal. However if they were executed as insider trading, that information of insider transact would or should have been made public. And even if so, the shares were not belonging to the company at that time unless they were transferred to the company to dispose off at the then current price as a loan and return the loaned units back in future .. Wouldn't make any logical sense, least common sense.
7. Bothered that no mention of the oil mill in or around the EGM even after it was widely circulated on social media… with or without board approval
8. Too much secrecy, too little information.

I certainly share the view that land mass can be put to good use in good hands especially in palm oil cultivation and subsequently value chain derivatives to enormous profits, rice, cassavava, soya etc. However, its one thing to have a vision, but another to bring it to birth. I share the vision but sadly I do not share the mode of operations.

If the scarcity of authentic information is deliberate to keep the price down from soaring beyond the reach of directors loading up okay I can understand but that isn't working because the price has soared significantly….mostly on recently released social media information on X.

Could the frog be trying to swallow the snake or its the snake swallowing the frogs?

Yes, that is very true. I have attended the AGMs of companies I have afolabi units especially those whose meeting is in Abuja. Infact those faces know all the CEOs and the CEO's knows them too. The shuffle between Lagos and any other place any AGM is holding. Most times the are paid extra money underground by the company.

Even if you attend any virtual AGM it's still same them you will see. I guess that's their own way of making extra money from the company. However, they keep blocking the chances neutral investors with genuine concerns and needs clarification.
