Hello

I'm new here. I've been following the thread for some weeks now.

Please I want to know how dividend payment works. Is it automatic and would it be paid into my trading account or do I need to apply for it–what would the process be like?

N.B I have a CSCS account with Morgan Capital

Thank you
Any company that is with coronation registrars is automatic; no need to fill any e-divdend form. ACCESSCORP and Dangote Cement are with coronation registrars. Your dividend will be paid into the bank you used in registration for Morgan Capital iTrade.

If it's a sale and not partnership, owners only need concern themselves with who pays first !

Interesting. Not sure we can assume Presco's is for M&A, though. They've only just acquired a substantial Ghana asset, and I imagine it'd be easier and faster to raise debt for another opportunistic acquisition than to run a rights issue.

I don't know for sure, of course, but Presco recently issued a large 23+% 7-year bond that is callable in early 2028. They might be looking to eliminate that as interest rates fall.

Sunrisepebble:
I’m curious as to what asset they’re acquiring. Our dear Ellah too wants to raise N250bn for same reason.

Interesting information - I am surprise to see Real estate as a top contributor

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in nominal terms rose to N94.05 trillion in Q1 2025, representing an 18.30% year-on-year growth from N79.51 trillion in Q1 2024. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP declined by 9.97% from N104.47 trillion recorded in Q4 2024, tracking seasonal economic moderation and tighter monetary conditions. In nominal terms, Real Estate emerged as the largest contributor in Q1 2025, followed by Trade, Crop Production, and Telecommunications. Despite nominal inflation pressures and currency depreciation, key sectors such as Real Estate, Trade, Crop Production, and Telecommunications emerged as the largest contributors to GDP. Combined, the top ten sectors accounted for 75.17% of the economy.

Fair point.
However, the disclosure centered more on acquisition than your assertion. it's left to be seen where all of that will go to. I will definitely buy the rights.

The 4,310 hectares is the First phase planted in 1975. Unfortunately that's what is quoted online.
Ada Palm is 38,000 Hectares of land. Just do your research.

When sold, the plantation will not be carried away from your state.
It will still be there, but this time well managed, providing jobs for your present and future generations, and tax revenues for your government tiers.

The loot from the sale will not be looted by your governor, local govt chairmen and their gangs, I sincerely promise you. grin

The revenue will be used judiciously to do health, education, infrastructure etc for your present and future generations, pls rest assured.

https://guardian.ng/news/fg-scraps-capital-gains-tax-keeps-30-corporate-tax/
FG scraps capital gains tax, keeps 30% corporate tax
The federal government has abolished the long-standing 10 per cent capital gains tax, consolidating it with the corporate income tax (CIT) regime, while retaining the latter at 30 per cent for medium and large companies, under the newly enacted Nigerian Tax Act (NTA), set to take effect from January 2026.

The CIT will continue to exempt small businesses—those with an annual turnover of N50 million or less and total fixed assets not exceeding N250 million—from taxation, maintaining a 0% rate for such entities. Nigerian Airways plane models

According to the new law, tax shall be levied… in the case of a small company, at 0 per cent; and any other company, at the rate of 30 per cent.

Professional services firms, however, are excluded from the small business classification, regardless of turnover or asset size. The Act defines such firms as those offering specialised knowledge or skills, such as consulting or planning services. Artisans and vocational service providers are not captured in this clause.

The Act further imposes a 15 per cent minimum effective tax rate for companies falling below this threshold. Any business with an effective tax rate below 15 per cent must “recompute and pay an additional tax” to reach the benchmark, provided it is part of a multinational enterprise group or generates N20 billion or more in annual revenue.

Thank you. Where do I get the forms? After filling what next please?
Let me help you and simplify things.

Step 1:
Know the registrar in charge of the various companies in which you have holdings. Google or whatever can help you with this.

Step 2:
Go to the individual registrar's website and you will see the e dividend form staring you in the face for download.
You might be lucky to have two of the companies being taken care of by the same registrar. Just tick the respective columns on the form.

Step 3:
Take the the completed form to your bank where you want the payment domiciled. The customer service person will collect from you and you tell them to help you upload .
TIP: MAKE A PHOTOCOPY OF THE FORM BEFORE GOING TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER AND INSIST ON THEIR STAMPING THE PHOTOCOPY FOR YOU AS AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. WITHOUT THIS, THEY MAY NOT WORK ON YOUR FORM OR JUST FORGET ABOUT IT.
But stamping and acknowledgement copy for you, they know you have something you can hold them with.

If the above steps are done, be rest assured that your dividends will be paid even though it may take a while.

Thereafter, go and pay your tithe.

Really? Your stated procedure is long and I can only imagine the stress it would involve.

The fellow should just visit the online e-dividend mandate management (EDMMS) portal via this link

https://docuhub3.nibss-plc.com.ng/edmms/self-service

and complete the online form. Your info will be automatically passed to all the registrars operating in the Nigerian market and you are sure of receiving any dividend you're qualified for.

I may agree with you that the process is long and streneous. I have used the EDMMS platform before but could no just remember the address. It worked well too.
However, that does not warrant throwing my baby away with the bath water. And besides, that is part of the beauty of the social media. My response to the fellow neccesitated your own response. People were just reading the fellow' s urgent cry and ''jumping pass" before I responded.

If you are part of the generation that never passed through the process I highlighted then, congratulations to you. After all, the likes of Christian Chukwu and Segun Odegbami suffered what the Osimens and Iwobis are enjoying today. Na so life be.

Ah, okay. But why a more burdensome rights issue over debt though? Either they think interest rates are too high (but they've issued at higher); they'd breach debt covenants (I doubt); their stock is richly valued (so look out below); or that the opportunity is speculative and uncertain (so better to hold low-cost equity than interest-paying debt).

I think it will be good idea if they can clear interest paying debts via equity funding.
Looking at the os of the company which is still very small . it will not really cause any dilution and will not have serious impact on eps
