NettyNelly:The NCC directive last year initially caused MTN to lose millions of subscribers, but it fully recovered and gained even more, ending with a net subscriber (+3.2M) and internet user increase, unlike its competitors, who are still facing net losses. MTN appears to have benefited from both subscriber additions and spend shift following the recent disconnections. In markets like Nigeria, where most people own 2 or more SIMs, what usually happens during a mass disconnection is that SIMs disappear, but the spend doesn’t; it either moves to another active SIM or users register a new one. The key here is that not all SIMs are equal. Primary SIMs are usually on the most reliable Network (for eg, MTN) and carry higher switching costs, so users are more likely to reregister them when barred. Backup SIMs, on the other hand, are disposable; people simply move the spend to their main line or switch to a more reliable operator. It looks like that’s exactly what happened. While the industry is still down by over 51 million subscribers post-NCC Directive, MTN added 3.2 million. This suggests MTN was the main beneficiary of both new registrations and spend reallocation from churned SIMs on other networks. We saw this reflected on MTN’s 2024 numbers (36% revenue Growth, compared to the Normal 20 - 23% MTN has recorded since IPO). |

Cadbury Nigeria Plc – H1 2025 Financials as just released: Revenue Surge: Turnover rose sharply by 50% to ₦77.25 billion (₦51.44 billion in H1 2024), reflecting strong volume growth and price increases. Profit Turnaround: Rebounded from a ₦9.7 billion loss in H1 2024 to a ₦10.17 billion profit in H1 2025, a 205% positive swing. Gross Margin Boost: Gross profit more than doubled (+128%) to ₦21.86 billion, showing improved cost efficiency. Equity Recovery: Shareholders' equity jumped to ₦14.55 billion (vs. a negative ₦2.53 billion last year), wiping out retained losses significantly. Operating Leverage: Operating profit soared 244% to ₦16.27 billion, driven by better cost control and topline expansion. Debt Still High: Borrowings remained elevated at ₦32.2 billion, posing a sustained interest expense burden (₦1.74 billion net finance cost). Inventory Spike: Inventory rose sharply to ₦34.5 billion (from ₦13.8 billion in Dec 2024), potentially signaling stockpiling or demand optimism. Cash Burn: Cash balance declined to ₦8.46 billion (from ₦16.34 billion), as operations generated negative cash flow of ₦1.31 billion. My opinion: Cadbury Nigeria delivered an impressive financial turnaround in H1 2025 with robust revenue, strong profitability, and equity revival, though liquidity pressure and debt still work in progress. The best of CADBURY is now in solidified MOTION |

With data residency now a big deal, atleast across other continents. MTN is now a cloud-base provider for Africa of which I am looking at chopping their salary and dividend(inshallah) 😁. If they successfully onboard clients on the B2B level across Africa, this will be massive. The new money of the world is in data. I expect them to start to lobby governments(in Africa). Now that we have seen revenue, they will find another fault🤣🤭 in that company.. |

I will be looking forward to what Cardinal Stone's MEP report will look like next week after today's blowout from MTN and the ASI strong uptick. Their MEP has done better than the ASI YTD. https://research.cardinalstone.com/storage/ResearchReports/CardinalStone%20Research%20-%20Model%20Equity%20Portfolio%20-%2028%20July%202025.pdf |

Streetinvestor2:Yes Loco is a monkey hunter. Na wetin Loco buy he dey promote. Loco even bought Royalex yesterday at 1.37 up to 5m units in bits of 1m units in each trade. Na when Loco dey exit he no go tell you. If you buy when Loco is buying and shouting buy buy buy,na to sit down and make your own exit plan and leave Loco alone. Loco is inside Royalex 💯 with substantial units. Royalex is a stock of 500%. Loco fit no ride to 500% if he sees another opportunity in an undervalued stock. The debt is much, plus a Negative Operating Cash Flow: -₦6.25B (vs. -₦11.50B in H1 2024) – Due to working capital pressures (inventory/receivables) is scary. . Fred2020: |
