The essential bills are electric, water, gas, Internet, tv license if you watch, house/home insurance if you got one, and the infamous community charge. Others are non-essential consumption if you asked me, like Sky or pure water subscriptions, which are matters of choice.

No bill for school or sick though, makes up for I think, and a clean semi-secure environment to live in. Going to borrow a free book at a library was divine for me, and Gods help me if I'd had to pay hospital bill.

I'm not turned to a heartless human, least not where my very extended family is concerned, except to lazy fuqs.

I don't entertain visitors

It wasn't like you were cold and he was feeling heat. He was the only one in that room at that particular time. This person could be your friend or relative o.
Please learn to treat people right. I'm sure that visitor doesn't have ac in his house, if he had AC in his house, you wouldn't look down on him this way.

If I go to anyone’s home or office, I’ll always ask before turning on anything. What are you saying? Is this even an argument?
If you’re hot, ask for the ac to be turned on or if you can turn it on. Very simple request: “can I turn on the ac?” Or “is the ac functional?”

Please Don’t use this overzealousness to go and burn somebody’s home o or even finish the little unit of electricity they’re managing. Always ask. It will not kill you to ask first.

1. A lady left a used pad in the bin in my room.
2. A guest used the toilet without flushing.
3. A relative came over with a girlfriend who stole a shoe and some new clothes from the wardrobe.

6. A friend asked if he could spend the night with a lady because I mentioned that I wasn’t dating her.
7. My wife’s niece walked by while I was filling the drum with water after the lights came back on.
8. My godson went through all my belongings when I wasn’t looking.
9. A neighbor, who spent the night, was caught standing on a stool and urinating in the kitchen sink the next morning.
10. A church member sat on the bed frame and placed two buckets in the room to wash clothes while I was away.
11. I discovered that a neighbor, to whom I leave my keys, does laundry for his family at my place when I’m gone to work.

My landlady’s son’s gf came to my apartment for the first time that I met her. I welcomed her with a bottle of groundnut. Only for me to hear her say she love groundnut a lot, and that the groundnut I gave her is very sweet. Aunty almost finished the groundnut I served her.

One of my guy scot for my house at school, during the holiday I went home and the guy said he didn't want to go home, when holiday finished, I returned back to my school house, my house don turn to Yahoo room with like 5 yahoo boys that I don't know them. I couldn't sleep for that house a week till they left. I con dey Scot for my neighbour house for that 1 week. Worst part, these guys don share my clothes and shoes wey fine.

Back then at Asaba, I have this friend of mine called Franklin, dude came to my house one Sunday morning requesting that I drop my keys for him to use my place on Monday morning to entertain one of his numerous Female friends because his girlfriend is still at his apartment.
I said no problem, and showed him where to get a condom should incase.

He came with the lady, and after their time together, she left. When I returned from work, I noticed the bedsheets was scattered, so I quickly changed it, then I went to the kitchen, I was shocked and angry at what I saw there.


My last tuber of Yam is what they prepared to entertain themselves and couldn't dispose the yam peel properly.

I went straight to his house, I saw him drinking Chi Exotic juice on top my yam when he consume. I just enter he kitchen, carry 5 packs of Noddles from the carton and 4 eggs. He just dey laugh as I dey go.

Where did he mention that they were friends? There is a difference between being friends and being acquaintances.

Be honest with yourself; would you have lent it to him if he were just an acquaintance?

Home is a comfort zone, and we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to hospitality. Let's be careful not to condemn someone for having preferences in how they manage their home or host their guests.

Not everyone who visits a home is necessarily a friend. Sometimes, people come over out of necessity, courtesy, or for specific reasons; that doesn't automatically make them close companions.

Personally, I've had people over; sometimes just acquaintances, who might be visiting for practice or other specific purposes.

I take necessary steps to secure my space, without making guests feel unwelcome or disrespected. I lock rooms I don't want accessed, ask guests to leave their plates on the dining table after eating without worrying about washing them, or simply serve meals in disposable containers.

Had a cousin live with me once. I gave him my bedroom and I slept on the sofa. He paid no rent, apparently assuming the government paid citizen's rent, and would eat everything left in my pot after I ate.

One day I went to Peckham, bought fish and Guinness and went home to cook rice and dodo. As I was eating, he arrived and asked if I'd taken all I want so he can eat the rest as he normally would, but I told him I hadn't, and would be eating it all as I didn't cook any for him. All the Guinness was mine too, I said, which shocked him as I usually share. "Oh", I said, "and when I finish, I'd like a word please".

"Did your family (my maternal) tell you my family owes you and you should come and collect", I asked. That's when he told me he thought the government was feeding me and paying my rent.

"So, when you see me go to work l, What's that", I asked.

We decided he'd be paying rent and would contribute to electric and water and buy his own food or pay for mine if he eats it. He stayed for 5 years and sensitised the 8 other people who stayed with us in that time.

He did run up my landline with calls to America so I got a £200+ bill. I called the person, got number from itemised bill, and found out it was his friend before confronting him. He said he thought it would not count because the phone was locked and he'd found a way around it.

Help others, but prioritize yourself.

If you have the ability to help someone and it's very unlikely to harm you, I strongly advise you to do so. God and nature often eventually reward good deeds.

But helping doesn't mean you can't set boundaries. It's very wise to distinguish between friends and acquaintances, and treat them accordingly; for your own peace of mind and to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Sometimes, helping from a distance can be the wisest choice. Personally, I would often rather lodge a stranger in a hotel than bring them into my home. My eyes have seen a lot. I've done favours in the past that I deeply regretted.

Don't push yourself too hard. It's possible you're just not feeling the person's vibe, or your spirit isn't at peace with him. I don't think he is even your friend, if you take him as a friend you wouldn't even be feeling this way about him.

You have don't force yourself to please others; it often doesn't end well. Just be honest with yourself and do what you know is best.

Sometimes, strangers and visitors encroach and overstep their boundaries by doing some things that are stranger than they themselves. When you tell them to "feel at home", you're inviting trouble. I still remember how a stranger cooked my food in my absence, finished the food, washed the dishes and acted like he didn't cook anything in my absence. I was really shocked. Same stranger ransacked my documents, I didn't know what he was looking for. Why invading my privacy for crying out loud?
So what is that most annoying thing a stranger did to you?

She was a friend's younger sister. They asked I accommodated her for two weeks, pending whenever she's done with what she came to the state I was living at.

During her stay with me, she'd be the last to get off from the bed but, she won't lay the bed. I will be in the kitchen and cook all alone, while she will gladly eat, lick her fingers, and drop the plate/s for me to wash afterwards, and also, she doesn't even sweep the room. I endured until the 2weeks elapsed, and she wasn't showing any signs of leaving.

So I had to call my friend, to tell him I will be traveling home urgently, and I am not sure when I will be back. Na so she take leave with her uncultured manners!
