crownprince2017:
a N314.91 million net monetary
loss in line with IAS 29 was reported as a result of the hyperinflationary
environment in Ghana. However, it was an improvement to the
N756.60 million loss reported in Q1’25, reflecting moderation of
inflation in Ghana

Can someone please help me interpret the above statement I got from Cardinalstone analysis of presco.

I want to make sure we on the same page
It's same thing with Nigeria from 2023.
High inflation triggered Naira devaluation with respect to dollar inflows in companies leading to forex losses in 2023 & 2024.

Same scenario is playing out in Ghana I think. High inflation is affecting returns(net payables and receivables) but it's drastically reducing and nomalcy seems inview(from 756m to 314m) just as our own Naija forex volatility has stabilised.

Presco still lost money because of inflation in Ghana, but the loss was much smaller than in the previous quarter, which is a positive sign indicating that the inflation problem in Ghana is not as bad as it was earlier in the year.

crownprince2017:
Does it mean they have not been able to shift the cost to the consumer, I also think instead of selling to Ghanaian at loss they can as well export the commodity na since its more expensive elsewhere.

Or the inflation is not revenue related from palm oil.
The ₦314.91m IAS 29 loss does not mean they’re selling palm oil at a loss. It reflects the impact of Ghana's inflation on Presco’s financial position, not necessarily their pricing strategy. They could explore more exports if possible, but practical or regulatory constraints may exist.

The improved number versus Q1’25 simply means inflation in Ghana is still a problem, but a bit less severe now.

Great investors,
I need your candid opinion on this issue.
Presently my net portfolio in stock is #20m from initial investment of #2.8m.
I sold my charisma car on Nov '24.presently l footwagen around.l intended to sell part of my holding in stock to buy Toyota matrix worth of #5m. The issue now is should I hold on till Sept,25 because of the bull season or l should go ahead to buy the car.
The post below might help in your decision-making process.

Dangote and I are two different people with two different philosophy about life .

With more than 8 Million Monthly for the next 25 years in my Bonds , I am definitely a happy man for life. Contentment is the key word

I don't need a yacht or private jet . I am not going to be a prisoner of rat race . The rat race is rigged to keep you running.

The set goal has been met , it's time to enjoy life while I can .

Best of Luck.
I hope this 2023 post 👆 by the elderly Shalom428 speaks to you as it spoke to me. "Stock portfolio" is not the only investment. Buying comfort for yourself with 25% of your portfolio value might be an investment. All towards good, healthy, comfortable living while it is still enjoyable.
The bull might last 3 years or 30 years; nobody knows. Same with the bear that will inevitably come one day and wipe paper profits without mercy.

I recall making a similar comment about CAVERTON fee months ago.

It's okay to dash IN for SP appreciation, but don't forget to cash OUT at the appropriate time... smiley

✅ Strategic Note

Unless you are a distressed asset specialist or insider investor with visibility into a debt restructuring plan or state intervention, this equity does not qualify as “deep value”—it is more “value trap.”

So the bulk of our fuel we consume in this country is imported. Which way Nigeria?

Findings by The PUNCH, based on the latest fuel supply data obtained from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, showed that a staggering 71.38 per cent of Nigeria’s daily petrol consumption in May and June 2025 was met through imports.

The remaining 28.62 per cent was sourced from the $20bn Lekki-based Dangote Petroleum Refinery. This indicates that marketers, who are expected to access products locally with ease in the country, are instead spending the country’s scarce foreign exchange to import refined petroleum products.

The NMDPRA disclosed this during a presentation to the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee for the month of June 2025. Our correspondent obtained a copy of the presentation on Sunday.

What do you expect. When this government is championing all kind of corruption and looting by all means available. The will soon borrow to the forth generation of nigeria. This is way the naira is not appreciating and they are celebrating stability. The pressure is still very heavy on dollar demand
