I said yesterday that this is not the time to be jumping from one stock to the other. The noisemaker I referred to yesterday sold a stock to enter another today... Honestly this isn't the season for that...

Be humble enough to learn from the gurus here instead of the unnecessary NOISE grin
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 2:25pm On Aug 05, 2025
You see those insurance stocks with the biggest bid sizes,if you can get them by crossedeals, pls do than to quene eternally.

Those insurance stocks with larger bids are the frontiers.

Let me shock you.
Royalex has met capitalization that's why institutional investors started mopping them since 3 months now.

Some people will not forgive themselves when they see some stocks doing 200,300% or above within a short period.

I appreciate your informed input.

Oyindamolah:
AIICO Insurance Plc

Why? One of the most established players with strong life insurance penetration and solid investment assets.

Digital positioning: Already investing in tech and innovation.

Capital base: Better positioned to meet stricter capital requirements.

AXA Mansard

Why? Backed by AXA Group (global strength), giving it strong governance and access to capital.

Strong in health and general insurance, which are expected to grow with reforms encouraging wider coverage.

Corporate clientele will favor stable, compliant insurers.

Custodian Investment Plc

Why? Strong balance sheet and diversified insurance portfolio (life, general, pensions).

Efficiency and corporate governance gives it a competitive edge in the post-reform market.

Likely to benefit from mergers and acquisitions of weaker players.

NEM Insurance

Why? Known for good underwriting discipline and profitability.

Strong general insurance arm and good distribution network.

May benefit from increased trust and market expansion post-reform.

If you’re investing, AIICO, AXA Mansard, NEM and Custodian should be your first watchlist stocksThe Act raises the minimum capital requirements significantly:

Non‑life insurers: from ₦3 bn → ₦15 bn

Life insurers: from ₦2 bn → ₦10 bn

Reinsurers: from ₦10 bn → ₦35 bn

This will prompt a wave of capital injections—estimated at around ₦600 bn industry-wide—to meet compliance. It will likely trigger mergers, acquisitions, and industry consolidation, favoring insurers with stronger balance sheets

Saying AIICO can never perform for shareholders based on ₦40bn OS ignores its life insurance dominance, asset strength, strategic patience, and long-term shareholder value delivery. Not every player needs to sprint. Some build empires with slow, deliberate moves — and that’s AIICO’s playbook
I no get time to speak English. I have been in that stock like 15 yrs.
The results have never been impressive all this yrs Aiico has been in business since when I bought nem #1 plus. You can speak this English to newbies

In terms of total stock market capitalisation (equities) in all of Africa:

1) South Africa - $1.17 trillion
2) Morocco - $100.1 Billion
3) Nigeria - $59.3 Billion

(As at close of trade yesterday and using official exchange rates)

Wow.
Does it mean Nigerian companies are relatively low valued compared to S/A companies? Or there are more big time multinational companies listed on the SA exchange

Both. It has always been like this though. The only difference now is that we are third behind Morocco in Africa.

I think the only major difference between now and like a decade ago is the emergence of Morocco who are now second. Our market cap post 2008 have mostly been around this 50 - 70 Billion USD and we were second in Africa with South Africa far ahead from time immemorial.
During the devaluation in 2023 and 2024 we plunged to around 40 Billion USD (and even 37 Billion at a point). Now we are back were we used to be pre devaluation in 2023 only now way behind Morocco only.

Nigeria does over 20,000 MW actually but they are mostly off grid, so only 5000 MW is utilised from the grid (installed capacity 13000 MW). There is an extra off grid 19000 MW generation by other sources however, which the Government must make deliberate effort to integrate.
South Africa’s 45000 MW is still not good enough for them because they do a lot of mining.
