Streetinvestor2:I understand but international bodies would only quote the official rate from the central banks in every country. If we calculate using 750/$ with around 28 trillion naira market cap as at May 2023, this would mean we were at a mere $37.3 Billion then and now we are at $58 Billion despite the devaluation from 750 to 1560 (parallel market) This would mean the Nigerian stock market have added over $21 Billion to its market cap so far since May 2023 despite a more than 2 fold devaluation. Incredible. |

It is good for them.It will still be big challenge for many to raise fund via PO or RI because they have made many lose confidence and trust in the sector. Many of them will have to go way of private placement for recapitalisation. Many of them will not see my money for PO or even RI lol. They thought me hard lessons in my early yrs in this business when it was difficult to save 100k.Look at the ones that ended up being delisted. I am praying now for staco to even come back as it has not been delisted yet |

One of the key risks to the ongoing stock market rally is the exchange rate, which has recently shown signs of weakness. Unfortunately, there is not much transparency around the forces influencing Nigeria’s exchange rate, leaving much of the conversation driven by speculation rather than hard data. The CBN loosening a lot of capital controls lately has been a confidence boost to inward investment but more needs to be done in making the data transparent. In a world where DJT has spook a lot of investors from the more established developed markets and oil continues to hold steady at above $70 a barrel. Markets like Nigeria can continue to big winners. The market can continue to boom till 2026 especially Nigeria seems to be tilting to a one party state & next election may be a formality. Bad for democracy, good for foreign investors. |

Fred2020:Our gross FX reserves are growing and currently at $39.54 Billion. If we can get it to cross $45 Billion by the end of this year despite the relatively lower oil prices and high external debt servicing (including the $1.2 Billion Eurobond repayment in November), I would be very confident in the naira going into next year. |

SohSoh:1.You're missing the point.. neither you nor loco can single handedly pump any stock! Loco identifies a stock about to rally due to certain factors.. believe it or not, NSEMPA is not the market maker of the exchange |

SohSoh:I would say coincidence @best. 1) Dangote talked about medical tourism around the time. (health, pharmacy related) There was even a rumour of Dangote pharmaceuticals coming up ![]() 2) Plus a company seeking equity raise of ₦30bn, raising OS by 300million will want to issue the additional shares @₦50 SP; hence insiders would also have moved the stock closer to Its destination much earlier like UBA did. |

ojeysky:A number of businesses are not listed those that were listed are planning to delist. MTN would not have listed on 2019 of not because of the issues they had with FGN. Part of the agreement with FGN was for them to list on NGX |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by chimex38: 7:03pm On Aug 05, 2025 |
SohSoh:English again... correct. Yes. news 4days ago no doubt. But how would they have easily moved the SP close to ₦50 from ₦29-30 this August given it's low OS & illiquidity if insiders didn't start much earlier. That's why I referenced UBA-->Move the price, then release equity proposal. At least you didn't dispute the first with your saying "no news" ![]() |

Streetinvestor2:I do not believe you are fair on AIICO. I do not know your investment philosophy. However, if you look at the difference between AIICO's current market cap and the market cap at around 2018 and deduct the cash infusion through private placement and rights issue done around 2020 - 2022, you'll realize that the stock has done phenomenally well. I was heavy in aiico in this period but completely exited my position recently at an average of ₦1.65, believing that there are better opportunities in the market both within and outside the insurance sector. |

Dupeodus:Bros How have you been? Immediately I saw AIICO on full bid, I thought of you. I'm glad to see you've finally moved on from the company. Did you ever get the chance to write to their management like you mentioned back then? |
