A gentleman bought a stock X at N3.00 and sold at N13.00 making a hit of 10/3 x 100 % gain = 300%. The stock later dropped to N6.00 but appreciated again over time to N13.00. The guy he sold the stock to at N13.00 initially, will have to see the stock appreciate to N42.00 to also make 300% 39/13 x 100 = 300% If the gentleman decides to buy back the same stock, now at N13.00 after it earlier dropped to N6.00 after selling off at 13.00 on a second missionary journey, the gentleman will become the second person. For me, I would rather move on to another stock with a 100-300% potential. Well, that’s me. It takes a level of discipline to turn away from FOMO on the same stock. Let others breathe too. Let them too take their gain. Walk! Trading discipline will generate profit over time. There is always the scenario that X will hit the N42 target fast and beyond, but probably not so fast. Hold ab initio if you can ride the stock from N3 to N42 or beyond. But once you decide to sell, think again on that buy back at same or higher price not unless its a strong stock and can act as a store of value, let go of it till its the only live fish in the pond. |

The Insurance companies actually have a year from the day the law is signed by the President. I wonder how many would be able to raise the needed funds to recapitalize with the 12 months period. I know many have huge retained reserves. Mutual Assurance over N20 Billion is huge. Mergers may be inevitable. One thing is sure, insurance stock prices will not be the same again. Locotrader: |

hallysonia:I'm not a Guguru o,I'm still a newbie! ![]() Did you buy the 2 stocks for capital appreciation or for dividends? Did you pay above the intrinsic value or book value when you bought? You may break even or be in profit when the Q3 financial results are released. Just exercise some patience to see if you will break even or be in profit before selling if you're a regular trader(that is, you're always jumping in and out of a stock). |

hallysonia:It is good to read/consider recommendations from people, but make sure you do your own due diligence and be convinced about which stocks to buy. Don't rush to buy just because somebody recommended a stocks. But be open minded. I have read that some people on this platform buy stocks and then hype them so that others can also rush to buy and make the price rise. That is curious and strange to me. So always do your due diligence after every recommendation. |
