May be possible, I am not sure.
But I am taking it as more of a short term than long term, unless something fantastic happens before I sell off.
I want to mobilize some funds for a long term position in Unity Bank.

Jeez!!! I have been trying to ignore the discussions on Chams RI for days now but mehn! The ignorance here can be mind-boggling. cheesy grin
The problem is that some have not taken time to understand the workings of the market. For example....Who are the stakeholders? What does one entity do? You see people will have an issue with the Registrar or CSCS and be blaming Broker ...haha

Selling your Rights means relinquishing your exclusive right to buy shares of Chams at the offer price of N1.70 as an existing shareholder.

If you trade your Rights, you simply sold your "right" or "priviledge". No shares are involved. Buyer now needs to pay the N1.70 offer price having acquired your Rights.

Eg It will cost Iya N1 + N1.70 = N2.70 to acquire shares in Chams.

I assume Iya thinks the SP on the NGX will be well north of N2.70 by the time the offer closes otherwise, Iya might not know what they are doing either. Apologies if you find this insulting.

Those pricing the Rights at N2 or talking about selling their rights at same price clearly have no clue either. There is a reason investors that know what they are doing are not bidding to buy at that price on the floor......the bid on the heads (main shares) not withstanding.

Ideally, if you are an existing shareholder and you'd like to hold for medium to long term but don't intend to take up your rights, you should absolutely be selling the equivalent quantity of shares you qualify for on the floor. Part of the proceeds can then be used to take up your rights. Your holding remains the same with some spare change.

The scenario above changes if you are trading Chams or whatever other strategies you might have.

if a buyer offers N1.80 or N2, it's inclusive of rights price of N1.70. seller goes home with difference

I know some people were just not happy Insurance Sector which they've so much detested are delivering in market....

Ordinarily the sector is much undervalued and, with the new good news, they should deliver well.

If banks can be transformed, so also insurance sector.

We continue to see how market handles this over time. In fact, the time is even shorter self.

I noticed that insurance stocks didn't close lower than they opened and the volumes are still massive.
So, I think the bull is most to continue tomorrow.

Hmmm.
The bolded might be correct but I think it's more about (ab)use of terminology.

IMO, most of the discussants were actually referring to the total cost of acquisition (rights + equity)... smiley

Exactly and very likely for most Insurance companies to return back to their 2008 peaks like the banks very well did.

In my view, if July 2026 is the deadline, they should be discussing fundraising options and kicking off M&A talks ASAP. M&A deals take months to close, and the longer they wait, the pricier it’ll be to buy out rival competitors.

I expect some to begin openly discussing their options this year or early next year.

I'll be keep the bulk of my insurance stocks come what may, I have enough fat to take any temporal dip.

No wasting of time.....
The recap issue was once raised but insurers asked for more time......if I can still recollect what happened for the suspension very well....

Now, no going back according to the authorities......and seems some had commenced before this reform approval.

Whosoever sell may not be able to buy much lower again, all things being equal.
** This is purely my opinion pls.

Honestly they should have just wrapped this thing up by december so everyone can have Christmas chicken by November.

But stakeholders need to protect stakeholders smiley and little babies need to pull a hat from a rabbit or vice versa..

On the US exchange, the best bank trades in the circa 200$ region,

The best insurance company is about ~17$
..

I just need the best to attain 0.5$. Even our banks are not there yet..
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by HesInMe: 3:43pm On Aug 13, 2025
Comparing absolute (raw) stock prices is virtually meaningless. Value is better assessed through benchmarks, like price-to-book ratios, or normalized stock performance over time.

Can anyone please share any recent analysis of the new insurance reform act? People are just plunging into the sector blindly and buying gems and duds indiscriminately.

And I say this even though I have a significant stake in AIICO at a price I dare not admit publicly.

Here's an interesting industry report from last year: https://intelpoint.co/report/the-nigerian-insurance-industry/

I have 7.5m units so you can get 3.75m units with that.
I am interested if you can break down how it works and what I stand to gain in layman's terms. Also breakdown how the transaction will be carried out without possibility of fraud.

You are the one who needs enlightenment hence your asking for details.

There will be lots of Jijo in insurance stocks before capitalization.
Buying support will always be the best.

Japaul is presenting a good opportunity to you guys leaving insurance.Come let's drive it to N10 and rest.
