thebargainhunte:Lailai, you are looking at the bonus issued from the public offer of 2001. When I get home I will share clearer picture that showed the dates the bonuses were issued. Thos who bought in 2007 only enjoyed 2 bonus shares GTCO stopped giving bonus in 2010 or thereabout |

NettyNelly:Make monthly provision for your loan and invest in a Money Market Fund, when it matures you liquidate your debt. Financiers of loans for stock investment prefer it that way. People who take the loans are not usually salary earners although they have cash flow |

emmanuelewumi:If i get your calculation well, the 20% you deducted (from the 40% - 20%) is the discount for inflation/devaluation? In that case, it means the company will pay the bank 4b out of the 10b EVA made on an average bank interest rate of 20% from the 20b loan used, while the shareholders, workers (salary) and others share 6b. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 8:43pm On Aug 16, 2025 |
emmaodet:I don't understand you We are considering the total invested capital in generating the return. 20% is the excess return above the discount rate. Net operating profit after tax: includes the profit after tax and the finance cost The invested capital is the equity and debt . |

emmanuelewumi:Your 20% discount is for what? yearly average devaluation or inflation? Nopat does not include finance cost. So a ROIC of 40% from your calculation, factoring the 20% discount still need to factor in finance cost from Nopat used in the ROIC calculation to get our real EVA if am right

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:06pm On Aug 16, 2025 |
emmaodet:Minimum required return from the investment capital . NOPAT already has the finance cost in it. That is the major difference between NOPAT and PAT |

Check out stocks that have a ROIC that is higher than 20% in the last 20 years, they all beat inflation and currency devaluation |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:31pm On Aug 16, 2025 |
ceelog:You should crunch the figures. ROE is not reliable because it does not include the debt portion of the capital structure. Eg A company made a profit after tax of N10 billion, finance cost is N4billion equity is N20 billion and and debt is N30 billion. This will give invested capital of N50 billion . The return on equity will be N10 billion/N20 billion multiplied by 100 to give ROE of 50% ROIC will be N14 billion/N50 billion multiplied by 100 to give ROIC of 28% |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:34pm On Aug 16, 2025 |
emmaodet:NOPAT is Operating profit minus taxes PAT is operating profit plus finance income minus finance cost and tax Get any annual report and digest it. Finance income is the interest earned on the company's cash in the bank or fixed deposit |
