mikeapollo:
An integrated energy company is one that operates in the upstream (exploration & production), midstream (refining) and downstream (distribution) sectors of the oil and gas value chain.
The ''integrated energy company'' may be a cliche that most Nigerian oil companies like to use for PR & marketing (like how individuals make use of titles), but it could never have been a truly integrated energy company without operations in the E&P sector.
I am talking about substance rather than form.
The ConocoPhillips transaction was an upstream asset

The ConocoPhillips transaction was an upstream asset
Conoco Philips was acquired in 2014 (if I'm not mistaken), and that is when Oando's struggles began, when they ventured into the Upstream business as I already mentioned in my earlier post.
As a Downstream company, they paid consistent dividend of:
i). N3 per share for 2008 to 2011;
ii).N4 per share for 2007
iii). N2-N2.50 consistently for 2001-2006.
There was a special dividend of N6 in 2008

Oando was not an ''integrated energy company'' before they acquired Conoco Philips. They became after the acquisition.

You can't totally judge with CCC, there may be reasons why Receivables for Eg is growing faster, which you may not be able to know, except you speak with the CFO.

Take Mecure for Eg. They have had an unloved CCC in since last year, but when you speak with the management you will get a better picture.

11 years or 2 business cycles is more than enough to see the effects of the acquisition on the bottom line, as earlier said some of us on SMN ie StockMarketNigeria though that would be the game changer unfortunately that never happened .

Anyway the motto of the company is "Oando the future". The future is endless and the future is pregnant

Thank you very much. We have started working on it based on your advise

Tell your dad to meet a good stockbroker so that he can dematerialize(digitalize) the share certificate.

You see why it is good to buy a good company.

Thanks you smiley. I appreciate the response
emmasoft:
First, your dad needs to open a stock/cscs account with a broker. To make the transfer easy, you can also open an account with the same broker. Then, send the share certificate to the stockbroker for the demat process. Demat is the process of digitalizing the paper certificate and also other holdings that the certificate may not be available will all be deposited in his cscs account. With that done, he can do a transfer/a cross deal with you for you to have the shares in your cscs account.

The share certificates should not be mandatory IF:

1. the deceased had only one stockbroker. Simply reach out to them for the dematerialization.
2. the deceased had CSCS online access. If not, you can create one if you have their CHN and CSCS account number.

However, if the holdings was all analogue, you'll have to do a search on the sec website for unclaimed dividends to ascertain the shares held.
The details you extract, will be used to contact the registrars.

You need to realize that the LA has to reflect ALL the shares held.
That means you have to update the LA after you have gotten the list of shares held.
Also, for you to be given attention, you have to be an administrator of the estate.

@ the bolded
Yes I have.
I didn't have to submit any share certificate because the deceased had only one stockbroker and an active CSCS online access so it was quite easy 😊
Thank you for your prompt response. I am not sure the LA has ALL shares stated in it. Provided your have the CSCS statement of all shares held, would that also fly.

Also I just found juapaul Oil and have reached out and they requested I send the following

1)Letter of admin
2)bankers confirmation
3)letter from admor
4)id card
5)death cert
6)gazette.

Please how do I go about the bankers confirmation?

Thank you for your response.

They are being mischievous. If you go to the registrars yourself they will give the real requirement. You don't need share certificates. It's been phased out.
Thank you

You mean he brought at high prices.

He made good purchases without considering his entry price.

He has to learn patience. Be an investor be circumstance.

Many of the stocks you bought are good but you might have bought at the wrong time.
Advising you on what to do might be difficult as no one knows the future.
If the market continues with the bullish run, then you will be fine.
On the other hand if bears rear its head it might be a long journey.
If you have come to the market last year and bought those shares, you probably by now be feeling like a pro.....Luck is a big factor in this game.

This question came right in time.

Currently, all my portfolios except Jaiz are red. Even the Jaiz self has reduced in return.

I have the following (with current return at -2.0% of the total money invested):

ABCTRANS bought at 5.42 - bought because I read a positive new about the company.

ARADEL bought at 528.53 - bought because the value is close to all-time low and based on technical/fundamental analysis

DS bought at 63.62 - bought because it is increasing, but didn't sell because it still has a strong fundamental

JAIZ bank bought at 4.53 - bought because I believe the bank will do well in the future

BUA Cement bought at 178.25 - ought because it is increasing. I didnt realize it was close to all time high

TRANSCORP bought at 52.70 - bought because it has a strong fundamental.

My plan is starting with 1.2million, but I have realized that these would turn into dust if care is not taken. How I wish I had read some previous conversion before making my investment decision.

Pa Emma, I was touched by your statement about "smart people learn from expert experience and those who want to learn from personal experience will suffer the most." Not that I'm learning based on my personal experience, but I can't factor out the fact that a 3 weeks old potential investor like me should be very patient. That I have money does not mean I have to make a wary investment decision.

megawealth2, come to my aid, edakun. You once said something about POVERTY and PROUDNESS. I am not proud o.

Streetinvestor2, nosa2, EDUCO, and others. E help wa.

PS:
1. I am potential investor, not really a trader. Currently running my PhD (Maths and Stat) in graduate school, so I don't have time for daily trading.
2. I am not interested in an interest based banks, breweries industries, gambling/lotto industry as well.

Apology for my brevity in typing..

Are not being sincere to ur intention
If u came to the business as an investor. Why should daily price fluctuations of sound stocks be bothering u.No body can time the market.
Sorry if it comes at hard . This is me I don't know how to pretend .The stock market is a marathon for those who are called investors
They keep averaging up or down over yrs.The could equally do portfolio rebalancing at some point

As long as it is not illegal, just follow the money and be smart with it. Don't be guilt tripped into losing opportunities.

Thanks sir for always giving back to the community with your knowledge and experience.

From your posts so far, I’ve noticed you don’t tell people to buy this or that. But for the sake of we young newbies who are looking into the future, say at least five years, what kind of stocks that fit your healthy investment criteria would you suggest we look at?

Thank you sir.
