This DANGSUGAR matter is no longer understandable, I planned to sell on loss @57 last Friday to rebalance with any of the good insurance stock (like AIICO or MANSARD OR MBENEFIT) but nobody bought and before I could click on sale today I saw some good bids and left the button alone now I am seeing over 61.40. The question now is this back and forth movement is it not the activity of JIJOISTs? Because I see the up and down movement continuing endlessly until the company comes out of debt perhaps by H2. |

Dangote didn’t start his business as a manufacturer. He began by importing and selling foreign products. That means he was in sales, and as a selling company, he was essentially a marketer of goods and services. Just look at how young he was, already selling and building his empire. Just over 20 years ago, Dangote ventured into local manufacturing. Today, he’s the richest Black man on earth. His experience in sales helped scale his business,.he understood the market, so he produced what people actually wanted. Sales is one of the best careers in the world. If you can sell something, you’ll never go hungry. And while manufacturing is tough, it’s the next step toward building generational wealth. If you can sell and you also manufacture, you’re setting up your foundation to generational wealth. So ask yourself, what are you doing today to build generational wealth? If you can’t manufacture yet, find a product and start selling. Dangote background didn't make him the richest black man on earth, his selling abilities did. Roberta Edu

megawealth01:How does dangsugar plan to repay their loan, cos as of now, finance cost still eats into their profit quarterly, while the debts continue to be rolled over. |

Pesuzok:Because they didn't have the expertise. How can I buy an asset for $1.5 billion and I can sack the so-called people managing it for me The main problem is over leverage. It happens when you bite more than you can chew, or you swallow what is bigger than your stomach capacity |

Pesuzok:Agip (the operator) was more interested in the production of gas than crude oil (because of issues of the environment, renewable clean energy etc.), although crude oil is what provides the biggest margins. Again, Agip had higher cost profile, and as the operator, they decided on which costs to incur, and then charged a proportionate ratio to the non-operator members of the JV who had little or no say. These were some of the explanations provided by Wale at the AGM |

emmanuelewumi:That was a wrong, miscalculated investment due to inexperience being their first foray in the upstream sector. Hopefully, they should have learnt from it over the last decade. |

emmanuelewumi:Well, it was a joint venture of conoco/agip/nnpc of which agip is the operator and nnpc the senior partner before Oando bought the conoco share of the JV. Agip has the expertise to run the venture but Oando had issues with the way the jv was being run and wanted to take over the operation of the JV which nnpc did not support. Probably, agip seeing the new President and knowing that Oando might have an upper hand in taking over operation of the asset decided to sell their share to Oando thereby making Oando the operator of the JV. Oando/nnpc |

mikeapollo:We are saying the same thing, so Oando wasn't fully in control of the assets they bought in the last 10 years |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 5:18pm On Aug 18, 2025 |
emmanuelewumi:The JV (Agip/Conoco/NNPC) was already in existence and Agip was running it as the operator before Oando bought Conoco Philips' share in the JV. There is always a learning curve |

Key Highlights from Q1 2025 Gross Premium Written (GPW): ₦5.55bn (↑ 11% YoY from ₦5.0bn in Q1 2024) Profit Before Tax (PBT): ₦776m (↑ 31% YoY from ₦594m) Profit After Tax (PAT): ₦647m (↑ 31% YoY from ₦494m) Earnings Per Share (EPS): ₦0.05 (vs ₦0.04 in Q1 2024) Investment Income: ₦709m (↑ 33% YoY from ₦534m) Shareholders’ Fund: ₦22.7bn (↑ 5% YoY) Total Assets: ₦32.6bn (↑ 6% YoY) Investor Interpretation 1. Profitability Strengthening: Both underwriting and investment income improved, showing resilience in a tough operating environment. The 31% profit growth is a strong signal for investor confidence. 2. Earnings Quality: A large portion of growth came from investment income (+33%), not just core insurance underwriting. While this boosts results, it also exposes the company to capital market risks. 3. EPS Growth: EPS of ₦0.05 in Q1 indicates potential to deliver ₦0.20 full-year EPS, assuming momentum continues. At a modest P/E ratio, the stock looks undervalued compared to peers. 4. Balance Sheet Stability: With ₦22.7bn in shareholders’ funds and steady asset growth, Prestige remains financially sound. Solvency ratios appear healthy. 5. Market Sentiment Factor: The insurance sector on NGX is experiencing mixed investor sentiment—AIICO, Cornerstone, Lasaco are more actively traded, while Prestige trades thin volumes. This could limit short-term momentum unless driven by earnings releases or sectoral news.[/b] sterlingD: |
