jonnysessy:
The number they are requesting for is your investor's account number. You can access this number when you log in with your username and password. Then your full name also be written in the description for payment. You will have your account credited pronto.
Shareholder's account number is unique for each Registrar and should not be what the brokers like Morgan Capital are asking for.

I stand to be corrected.

A stockbroker is charging me an annual fee of 500k as his professional fees and brokerage fees. Is it the proper way to engage a stockbroker for his professional advice. Do they charge so high like this. He told me the fee is subject to review at the end of every year
From your statement you are a newbie. But, if he is charging you 500k as professional/ brokage fee, how much is your portfolio worth. I am hearing this type of fee for the first time. The way it works is to charge you a percentage of your purchase or sales. It is not charged in bulk. I had been engaged with three different brokers, they never even advise me on what shares to buy. When I actually started my broker dump all manner of shares on me ( I believe it was the ones he couldn't sell in his portfolio). Then I started reading and scouting for information, I no longer needed his validation to buy any shares. If you learn properly, you don't need a broker to dictate for you.

are they managing your portfolio for you?
If there are losses at the end of the year, will the fee still be taken or will you be reimbursed?
Is it not better to take a percentage of the portfolio gains for the year to ensure
that he is motivated to perform?

U have not really said what the broker is saying.
1 Are they to manage ur portfolio

2 Did u ask for a different services beside using them to buy/sell shares. Like professional services eg privilege recommendations for buy, sell and others. IF u are looking for that u can contact OGG which I know will be far cheaper .He use to be a member of this thread. He offers such services. And he is good at what he does.

3 Abi they just wan chop u maga beside commission which has a bracket that it should not go above for all brokers. The highest for brokers commission is not above 1.35% plus other regulatory charges which is not above 1% combined. So no broker should charge above 2.35% total package

Good afternoon sir.
In response to the questions you raised, find the attached a contract note specimen. (Sorry the name is blocked for privacy matter).
For any money you invested you will be issued a contract note. This is in line with the investment and securities act 2007: part vi - section 44(2) - "A client or any person authorised by the client shall be entitled at any time, free of charge either personally or by his agent, to inspect any contract notes and vouchers relating to the said transaction."

In the contract note, you will see all the statutory charges relating to a transaction (I have also attached a summary of the charges from the Nigerian stock exchange).
The note help you see how your fund has been invested.
My job is to advise you, follow up on your buy or sell instructions and ensure the right shares and bond are in your portfolio for the growth of your investment. Put it in professional term I am your portfolio manager.

In order for me to track your investment and account for all buys and sells, all funds will pass through my bank account.

My reward is my professional fee, which is NGN500,000 (five hundred thousands naira only). This fee shall be reviewed annually.

This guy is a portfolio manager. He wants to charge 500 k.
How much is the minimum to be invested via him
What is his realisable roic for a yr for him to take 500 k
Is the 500k to be taken from return on invested capital
What happens if he doesn't meet the target for the yr or the investment goes red

My opinion free this guy.look for regular stock broker and manage ur portfolio ur self.
U will see many recommendations here for brokers with different commission and good services to choose
Pls when dealing with portfolio manager be sure is one that is reputable and registered by regulatory authorities. Do proper search from regulatory body incharge. You can even do it online. Registered fund managers I know don't even put blanket figures like this for professional service. They put it as percentage based on roic for the yr .Or when u want to liquidate the investment based on total invested capital against returns
No go fall maga for some guy on the street

In July, Oando delivered 52% in 5 days from 41.7 t0 63.8 in what was an unprecedented move, this move would have triggered a lot of investors, new and experienced to load up on the asset prematurely hoping that the rally would continue....kudos to those that caught the move and sold before current levels or whose strategy is to hold for the long haul. We basically stayed out because we did not see the signs in the chart adn where we can, we try to catch the best entry. Regardless of your strategy, your entry determines your profitability and is KING!
nowin August, 3 months after, we are challenging those lows again with current price at 49, the truth is the 41.7 low will be taken out, even if for an houror two, to trigger folks downwards, collect liquidity ,ferment confusion in the market and ultimately make investors question and abandon their plans, especially for those that got in at those levels..... But this level is exactly where the fun should begin.....
We have waited for this time, the structure and setup looks more matured and ready. we enter as soon as that level is broken. Coming week leading to sept will be very pivotal week in the market.DYOR
https://ewnation.com/category/stock/nigeria/
The other thing i wanted to point out is that as an investor, no matter what other people say, if you don't have conviction or not comfortable, jsut leave it....its not force, there will be so many other opportunities...its your money...you will ultimately be the one to press enter on that buy screen.....this is more for the newbie...don;t ever feel like you are missing in profit, if the market goes and leave you so be it......that profit you think you will make, could also be losses.....All you need is that one/two trades that will change things for you........
Lastly, the reason why best entry + conviction is important is that you can scale your entry, say you have 1M to invest, you can either purchase 5 stocks for 200k each or go all in on one asset that you have conviction and entry is correct....the outcomes wil be dramatically different. in many casses, the 1M if well deployed will out perform the 5 stocks of 200k thats only if the entry is correct....and you can reach take profit quicker to partial out.......scaling is where the money is but its only for when you are informed,.
Enjoy

The investors account number is the same number Morgan Capital issued you when you open account. It is also known as CSCS number, that is what is required from you when you transfer money to their account including your name.

The one with registrars are account number for each company you buy. You are registered with a number with every company account.

I had to respond to your dependable rental income with a saying I coined. "Your tenant's problem is your problem".
A dependable rental income actually protects you from your tenant’s problem becoming fully your problem. Yes, their struggles may spill over, but when you screen tenants well, set clear agreements, and ensure consistent rent collection systems, you cushion yourself. Their problem may tap at your door, but it won’t live in your house.

Think of it like insurance: a tenant’s problem can touch you, but dependable rental income means you always have a buffer, stability, and control. So a more balanced saying could be:
“Your tenant’s problem affects you only as much as you let it.

I agree with you 100%. When you are a billionaire, you have raised the bar and to sustain that bar you have to engage your money to work for you to sustain the level you have reached. But, if you feel you had arrived and go to sleep. You will be surprise the level at which you will go down.
