emmaodet:I would rather focus on what is clearly stated in the Nigerian Tax Act 2025, not on vague claims without clear direction. Let me explain why this may not be a good idea in this context. Assume you are a trader with ₦20 million. You spot a good trade and make 100%. Will you then take a loan equivalent to both your gains and principal? I don’t think so—except if the stock pays a solid dividend that can offset the interest, which most trading stocks don’t. The next logical move would be to pull out both your profit and principal from the speculative stock and move them into stable, dividend-paying stocks. At this point, you’ve become an investor by default. Now, you can take a loan and use steady dividends to service it. But here’s the problem—we are only looking at one side of the coin. If the stable stock keeps appreciating and paying higher dividends, no issue. But what if the reverse happens? You’ll be in a mess. Then you’ll need to keep trading again and again, piling up loans on top of loans, tracking each one. That looks like a pyramid scheme that will eventually collapse. Why do I say this? Currently, the best dividends hover around 8–10%, while interest rates are much higher. To overcome this gap, you must be both a very skilled investor and trader, capable of spotting stocks with truly solid fundamentals. There’s also the question of loan interest deductibles, which is actually a feature in the new tax law. But to be eligible, you must be a certified company. So, my point is—it all depends on context. Just because something works in America doesn’t mean it’s viable here. To me, it looks more like a headache than a solution. To be clear, this is totally different from what Pa Ema does with his loans. |

Loan Interest Deductibility under the Nigeria Tax Act (2025) 1. Companies (General Business Tax) Deductible: • Interest on debt used to generate income (e.g., bank loans, finance leases, bonds, etc.). Limitations (for loans from related/connected parties): • Deduction is capped at 30% of EBITDA. • Any excess interest above 30% is not deductible in that year. Carry-forward: • Unused interest (due to the 30% cap) can be carried forward for up to 5 years. Exemptions: • This 30% limit does not apply to Nigerian subsidiaries of foreign banks or insurance companies. 2. Individuals Deductible: • Only interest on loans for building an owner-occupied residential house. Condition: • Must provide documentary proof (e.g., loan agreement, receipts). • Tax authority can reject the claim if evidence is inadequate. 3. Petroleum Companies Hydrocarbon Tax (HCT): • No deduction allowed for loan interest when calculating hydrocarbon tax on crude oil operations. Petroleum Income Tax (PIT): • Interest on borrowed money can be deducted if it was genuinely used in petroleum operations. • Subject to: o Excess interest rules (30% of EBITDA for connected-party loans), o Transfer pricing rules, and o The Third Schedule provisions. |

ositadima1:This cannot be acceptable for individuals. Does it mean loan for business will not be recognised even when u have evidence via the bank. Many business men I know run on loan using thr property as collateral. They use this fund for business Some run on over draft based on turnover of the business without collateral just pure credit worthiness |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 9:33am On Aug 30, 2025 |
Streetinvestor2:Based on my understanding, if you have a registered business, then you can deduct it from the tax due on the business. But, as an individual, interest on loans that are not used for personal housing cannot be deducted from personal income. |

Umehj88:What do you mean, was what you posted as office the office, I'm not getting you your argument. And for the person you mentioned, I wouldn't debate with him until he understand the financial calendar of ellahlakes. He should learn how the financial year is calculated because it's not normal Jan to December he is used to. For correction purposes, that 780 by meristem was for the current calendar year which means based on the current released results by ellah, they outperformed meristem forecast. In 2024, ellahlakes did not make any revenue. |

People joke alot here.So meristem was forecasting 780, 000k for a company that already has 68 million in q3 results. Is this how blind thr analyst who are supposed to be professionals operate. Nothing way u can't hear from habitual lier..lol They even used colour difference to separate past and future expectations. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:25am On Aug 30, 2025 |
So where did meristem see 780,000 because it doesn't exist based on fact. Does it look logical for supposed professionals to make a big blunders like this. Because you are meristem you can just come up with any figure that doesn't exist. May be you can make us understand what the 780 mean then. I will be happy to learn where the 780 cones from. Agba accountant. Agba see wetin you train oooo.. ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:30am On Aug 30, 2025 |
I still have others to point at since we are now comparing with meristem forecast. Deal with 780 first. Your headmaster can give you expo, it's allowed. Teaming up is allowed in analysis. ![]() |

I guess oga Emma 100 million was 100k and my 300 million I was expecting was 300k. When u try to lie even to yourself it becomes a curse..lol. What a shame of revenue of less than 150 million and someone claims he gave loan of 6.8 billion to it. What else is scam alert when u approach any bank for such. Make they come market with this yeye results make I see who wan participate in the PO or PP.If they even do RI many no go participate lol.No be only 250billion na 250 trillion I like the cruise I am catching. Tell the directors they go give directors loan(scam) till infinity with no evidence as u be part of the syndicate |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:41am On Aug 30, 2025 |
While waiting for your 780k explanation since you said it's not for this financial year. Let assumed the 2025 figure is for the current year, the real results by ellah still outperformed it. Pls compare the gross profit. I still have many ooooo. ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:48am On Aug 30, 2025 |
Everyone can see that I'm being factual based on my view when you were Hawking and celebrating that meristem forecast, you even told us how you did the same personally and arrived at the same numbers but I told u it's just a forecast. ![]() We never go far, we have seen a lot of k legs in the forecast based on the results that is yet to incorporate the new development from the company. I still stand on my view that meristem forecast is far from reality even based on the available information. You or any of your supporters club can defend you. ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:53am On Aug 30, 2025 |
You said we should not talk about 250b after that yeye forecast was released, I was sticking with that, but if you want us to talk about it, no whahala, you can raise your concerns and I will be there for you. if They say go school you go say school na scam, see the way you are deviating any how from the original argument. Be mature enough and face the discussion head on.. ![]() We all can't be f©ols |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 11:59am On Aug 30, 2025 |
The reality you and your supporters club are running from is the sp of ellahlakes today was never based on today's results, even the f©ols understand this reality. So why do you want to ki!l yourself attributing it to the current report. Do you have another agenda or just hate the fact that some people are lucky to be part of it with huge gains.? Streetinvestor2:This has addressed some of the beautiful nonsense on the result. I don't have time to be beating around the bush on some irrelevant things concerning the result. | Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by crownprince2017: 12:22pm On Aug 30, 2025 |
Its very clear now that someone is being too emotional about ellahlakes, some days ago it was meristem forecast that they were using as standard and claiming the brokers were given envelope to help do that yeye forecast but today the reality hits hard on them that the forecast was proved to be a beautiful nonsense. Now na directors loan that we have been informed about before the results was results is now the new issue, unfortunately you didn't ask the question properly since you have concerns about that. When you do, I will be happy to educate you. |

My major problem is I can't even follow this argument. I really don't know when it began and I don't even get the bone of contention. But, the point is a side is for Ellah Lakes and the opposing side is definitely against it. The argument had gone on like forever. Whether Ellah is producing or not, the stock had moved from a humble beginning circa 3.00 to about N14. Some had made cool gain and had cashed out. Some others believe it is the next Presco on the NGX and had committed their cash patiently waiting ( risk). What i have come to learn in NGX is that if you really want to hit it big, you need to commit it your money big time. But, if you commit just a little to test the water, if it blossom you will also reap a little reward. Lesson learnt: Go all out to commit your cash with whatever investment you are sure of, this is to reap a bountiful harvest at the end of the year ( this could also mean a loss if your postulations, permutations and combinations are wrong ) |

jonnysessy:My own take on this matter is this; The time Ellah is a riskier investment has passed. All investments are risk averted but the case of Ellah as at now is no longer a risk. The risk is not so severe like when we started.Loco is a living witness to attest to the past of Ellah. I believe the mgt is addressing the issues on ground and share price will rise above N50 in the nearest future. It is a gradual process.Presco and okomu passed through metamorphosis.Ellah is passing hers' now. When the desired funds are there, all will become a story. Those who don't like it has only one option. Go to court and leave investors here to breathe. Your opinion is well approved and appreciated by Loco. |

This is wknd so I like to catch cruise. They said kpakus is doing well I like to dey press calculator as businessman Kpakus made less than 140 M in revenue with Os of 3.8 billion plus The OS jumped to this figure because 3.1 billion third party debt was converted to equity What yr do u think kpakus revenue can move from this present revenue of less than 140 million to 3.8 billion. I am not taking of PAT yet.The conversion rate here ws #2.80. This added over 1 billion units to previous OS Another wahala from this results The directors loan of 6.8 billion was approved to be converted to equity If the directors choose btw #2.8 -#3.00 for the 6.8 billion debt conversion. This will shoot the OS of kpakus to over 6 billion units If that happens too.Make una beg the directors to have mercy on the OS What yr do u think kpakus revenue could move from less than 140 million to 6 billion This is just revenue and not pat. Do u think kpakus can even make 500 million in revenue for 2026. Investing is not team support. I could be wrong as per revenue for next yr.If u have superior figures. U can counter all I have mentioned above We no send emotions and sentiments This for now has nothing to do with 250 billion way no dey anywhere |

ositadima1:Please I need everyone's opinion on this scenario: SCENARIO 1 2015: Purchased 100 shares of Presco at N40 2015-2025: No transactions on Presco from my account. 2026: Sells the Presco at N1,600 for a 40X gain! Calculation of capital gains tax to be based on my initial purchase price Chargeable Gain: (1600-40)*100- transaction costs. SCENARIO 2 2015: Purchased 100 shares of Presco at N40 December 2024: Sells Presco at 1500 and repurchases same 2026: Sells the Presco at N1,600 for a 100 gain Calculation of capital gains tax to be based on my initial purchase price Chargeable Gain: (1600-1500)*100- transaction costs This drastically reducesthe Capital Gains tax Is scenario 2 a logical one to limit Capital Gains taxes: Selling before year end and repurchasing same thereafter . |

@Agba pls come and teach accounting engineering. Or u hook me up to the next directors loan game .I need to avoid tax of next yr..lol.I don't want that collecting loan type u are teaching me to escape tax Imagine if 6.8 billion is converted to equity at even #3. That will give over 2 billion units. Even at #10 if u sell na hammer of 20 billion for inflated 6.8 billion loan Why won't personal expenses drop by 300 million plus to make results look like improvements if u be street |
