1)New name will be Providus bank.
2)if shareholders don't want to join the new bank, they pay them off @ ₦3.18
3) or transfer their shares @ 18 new Providus shares for every 17 old Unity bank Shares.

Providus will need to do more marketing if it's to retain a National bank licence.

The amount is very okay for now in this part of the world, but the problem is the kind of inflationary rise that we usually have in this country making that amount nearly obsolete in 10-30 years from now. That's a very big problem if one were to retire, stop working and be dependent on such investment cash flow. Though at a very old age, no more time to spend(waste) resources.

When you have such amount in dollars($10k). Irrespective of Naira inflation or devalued Exchange rate, It will sustain you..

It is you and I that are busy converting the $10k to naira @ current fx rate; and then comparing the naira equivalent to possible future Exchange rate of ₦20000=$1 .
Naira equivalent won't be sustainable.

I heard about Providus when the issue of merger with Unity first came on board.

Me too, Providus, I think is a relatively new kid in the sector.
But the image of Unity, with all it's old brand, was total kpakus.
