Agreed on the bolded.
We are still saying the same thing. If it's converted to Naira, not sustainable.

On your second paragraph,
But what If you physically live outside Nigeria but live on Nigerian goods and services(via export)
Then what Agba said is plausible for the next 20yrs. grin
You literally said it when you mentioned higher purchasing power.
You use less and less of your dollars to purchase more and more goods and services
Well we have Nigerians living in Western world still importing and eating egusi and other local/cultural cuisines, though I don't think it is cheap.

It seems you don't want to understand.

A good investment will always give an investment income that mirrors inflation,

Just for further sharing,
Let's see it this way.
Fx @ ₦1500=$1
A has $10k investment returns per annum living in Nigeria
B has ₦15m investment returns per annum living in Nigeria.
Assume Both A and B use up their investments within 1yr in Nigeria.

If Fx is devalued from 1500 to 20000, that's about 13 times(x13).

A=₦15m in Naira will suddenly drop to ₦1.15m in value.(15m/13).
This amount can now only serve A's needs in 1month or less!!!

B=$10k can suddenly last the person 13yrs+ or more in value grin

Assuming fx and inflation rate for goods and services are increased equally (paripassu)

27.5 is not sustainable.

They're literally printing over N20trn in new naira per year. More naira, less value.

I am not disputing any dollar denominated investment here in Nigeria or outside Nigeria, considering the kind of country we are in, it is very good against nonsenses(devalued currency, low PP, inflation etc). A hedging.

I am only looking or talking about the nonsenses I mentioned above happening to anyone who has a naira denominated investment(e.g NGX dividend paying stocks) to the point that even 10k dollars in cash converted to the local currency will still be an uphill struggle.

Well the first paragraph is your own judgment or conclusion. On the contrary, I do want to understand.

The point all along is, there are some amounts from investments(especially our own Nigerian stocks) that are not 'enough' if the kind of inflation that usually happens in our Country continue or compound itself YOY. Added to this in worst case scenario, a high currency devaluation and low purchasing power.

Of course some investment income amount will be okay even generational but certainly not a #15m annual income/dividend, that is currently worth $10k.

It all boils down to the tool used when you made the investment.

You consider the earning growth that is as high as inflation, the Return on Invested Capital that is high enough to create Economic profit and not just accounting profit.

Tool? What tool? For example in NGX stock market, what tool(s) can be used to create such a High Economic Profit or a high profit that equals or beats inflation?
(Assuming other things are not taken into account. E.g less valuable currency, and the risk of the NGX investment)

For beating the two measured indices together for 10years, these are good investments.

Providus will inherit Unity Bank's business, assets, and liabilities. The name Unity Bank will be no more.

For every 17 units of Unity Bank shares, you will receive 18 units of Providus Bank shares. If you want to cash out of Unity Bank, you will be paid N3.18k per share

Congratulations. I know you are heavy in Unity Bank. The trend continues with Providus Bank. Since it is 17 unit for 18 Providus, your holding will increase. And Providus is going to be listed cheap @ 3.18k. I am sure the price will skyrocket when listed as the cheapest banking stock. I will enter if the opportunity is there.
