Cowboys everywhere, buying Nigerian bank and thinking you want to own it forever, na scam, as they will find a way to dilute you or not allow you to experience the big break you ought to get from the stock market.

I don't and will never do long term with them.
Those guys are only interested in growing their personal wealth.

The money you they see for book they useful to them in terms of goodwill but not to you as shareholders if it's not being paid to you.
That's why you have to learn their game so you meet up with the styles

That London exchange was the beginning of my problem. grin

I bought when it traded over 130 on London exchange with the hope that it will easily do 120 on NGX.

Lesson learnt 🙂
😁😁😁😁
Give it time.

Some people bought public offer at N45 just about this time last year.

Let them finish taking profit.

Not a contradiction....but a mix of mentors from different school of thoughts.

At least, I can compare the ideas from both sides before making decision.

I did have a look at Ellah over the weekend fwiw.. but the numbers are quite depressing and it’s grossly overpriced. I’m afraid, I now share Street’s views on Kpakus and still prefer Okomu Oil as a growth stock at cp

PS:

This current pullback is an opportunity to average down on dividend paying quality stocks. However, some folks will soon start blaming President Tinubu for their poor judgement on Oando/Wale🤫
Oando grin

Do you know which of the banks one can easily walk into or use their online platform to get commercial papers and the steps to follow? My cousin's account officer is frustrating her.
Dangote sugar closed today.
Your best bet is an investment company. Most of them send information via mail to their clients anytime there's any CP.

I don't know if you see any info on FMDQ site

As part of what I think can help the market recover fast at a time like is further clarity on the tax proposal

Affirmation that such taxes won’t impact earnings significantly could offer relief, especially for banks.

Yeah, i'm aligned with you on this one, its like a cliche everywhere you turn to, people dishing advice to newbies to get dividend growth stocks citing banks, thats a very dangerous advice simply because there is no basis for it....if you are looking to turn your money in short to medium term, it makes no sense except you know what you're doing...if you want to park the money for 5 to 10 years, then sure you can do that and enjoy dividends when they come and some capital appreciation along with some dilution....but certainly not a vehicle for newbies looking for short to medium term investments...

"trust me bro"
More like the caveat emptor to anyone who reads it to do his/her DD. Irrespective of the "trust" word.
It's our Naija linguistic jargon grin
"trust me bro" means:
It's not a fact.
I don't have a legit source. Just my personal instinct/forecast.

It usually includes the word "bro". Nothing personal cheesy

To be candid, banks and endless dilution na 5 and 6.

They will make plenty eps but will declare shikini money.

Someone said na accounting profit be the bulk of the money but I disagreed. Is access using accounting profit for all this acquisitions.

I just believed that those guys are either starching those cash for the right time to delist or finding a way through acquisition to siphon the money.

This is my opinion about Nigerian banks
I agree to an extent.
It's a sector that deals entirely in numbers. And that makes it prone to manipulation.
It's precisely cuz of the above that they won't delist. They need to earn and retain the trust, honesty and goodwill by being "outwardly" transparent where possible especially with competitors around grin

Well, the fact is when you're mature, you get less aggressive.

Some of us are still young, our portfolios are young too, so we can't exactly copy you.

A lot of banks will gladly fix your N15bn at 27%, so I can see why you won't buy 8% dividend yield in a hurry.

The dilution rate is extremely high.
They used around 3b to run the farm with capex in the just concluded fiscal year.
Their cash & CE is around 6b currently. It means it will take them roughly 2 years to blow-up that money and say thy want to raise cash again or more dilution (aside the 250b they freshly want to raise).
I hope they will be generating enough revenue and profit to atleast take care of the farm running cost of 3b annually.
