So I read of a guy who was caught recently and arrested for killing his girlfriend who broke his heart two years ago.

A soul was lost just like that. The accused LINTEX, will have to serve life imprisonment and be deprived of priceless freedom.

Why do people say after a relationship that they were 'used and dumped'. I think we should start seeing relationships as a transaction and not a do-or-die affair.

What I mean is, get the most of a relationship while it lasts and be prepared for anything. Don't allow the relationship to be one-sided.

Ladies, ensure the guy is caring/spending while it lasts and don't be too attached

Guys, also ensure the lady is caring/offering sex and don't be too attached.

The answer to this question is obvious. Nigerians, particularly the women folk, are typically raised to believe that being in a relationship with anyone of the opposite sex is opposite sex opens one up to being used, mainly for sex, and then disposed of when a better option opens up. Males, particularly those with traumatic upbringings, go as far as to take it on themselves to inflict pain on women who abandon them with the mentality that they need to always have the upper hand, no matter the situation, over the opposite sex. So, this man's claim should not really come as a surprise to any African out there.

Is it appalling that this mentality persists even in this day and age of sexual freedoms? Absolutely!

Transactional? Relationships, whether the one between kids and parents, or the one between you and your brothers, have always been transactional. So, how can you claim you are just now going to start making relationships transactional?

. It's really not up to you to maintain that dynamic as far as relations are concerned, though. Anyways, given your anxiety towards being yourself in a relationship, may I suggest you instead spend more of your time finding yourself and tackling any traumas you may have picked up over your past(and recent) relationships?
