Better question is:
will Naira appreciate substantially during a violent riot or protest? that's the main context.

stable coin is a good option as well.

What is the probability of that happening?

Besides, thinking about it, I can take a small loss in value than what can potentially happen to the money if left in the bank in such an unpredictable state of affairs.

I do genuinely hope Nepal and the Gen Z protesters get things right. If not, it's not unusual for things to quickly spiral out of place.

MTN bought VGC Telecoms for $70 million in 2006.

Yet VGC Telecoms was not the biggest player in that sector.

Other players were approached but they preferred to hold on to their businesses.

I will rather own 1% of a big and quality company, than owning 100% of a struggling and mediocre company
Na wa , 9.6 billion was 70m $ 19 years ago

It’s now just 6m $ , we move

We had a much smaller market and not so much foreign portfolio investors that could easily pull out from holding naira bonds. Civil wars in Africa at the time were more or less the norm than the exception. The world is now more of a global village than it was in 1967.
In light of the above, a civil war then would have hardly had any effect on the naira than a crisis in a small country like Gambia would depreciate their currency today.

OK.
Nevertheless, naira won't appreciate whatever events that can shut down NGX. That's the context.
stable coin still a good option.

For seasoned investors in the house looking at what is going on in Nepal, how can one avoid loosing wealth gained via investing in equities when a country decends into anarchy just like we are seeing in Nepal
That is where people like agba will most likely excel.
Sell off the equity holdings and wait for another opportune time to buy back.
That in itself has its own risk.

Naira was relatively stable. It even appreciated few years after
( Probably due to Oil discovery).
True. of course. If NGX isn't shut down.
There will be massive sell-off.
The strong will buy the dip like during COVID.
