GeneralDae:
We had a much smaller market and not so much foreign portfolio investors that could easily pull out from holding naira bonds. Civil wars in Africa at the time were more or less the norm than the exception. The world is now more of a global village than it was in 1967.
In light of the above, a civil war then would have hardly had any effect on the naira than a crisis in a small country like Gambia would depreciate their currency today.
you made some points.

Going for the jugular:

Tax Identification will become a requirement to operate a bank account from January, including to transact on NGX.
So our old grandmas and grandpas in the villages and hamlets must obtain tax ID by force before they can operate bank accounts to receive little allowances (from their children) to buy food and medicine.!
Thank God there is tenure limit so a clueless, arrogant govt. can be thrown out.

No violent riot that won't be put down in Nigeria. This ain't Nepal.
Please, lets hope and pray that Nigeria doesn't experience extremely violent riots. There should be no room for complacency
A country experiencing endless ethnic killings, kidnappings, banditry, terrorist acts etc. for almost 20 years is a country in delicate, dangerous times.
Boko Haram has not been defeated for more than 15 years now.

What is the current value of MTN, which had a start up capital of about $300 million?
No idea , maybe 20/30x now

If our investments are not ahead of inflation and devaluation , we are not in a good place , and that applies to all currencies

lol.. true impact on result is the koko.
But it seemed impossible in O and G sector given mechanical requirements of training, drilling, etc.
NLNG testimony provides a yardstick that can be replicated and improved upon.

True, we pray there should be no riots. But to your second point, don’t you think this is evidence to Nigeria’s strength and ability to keep itself together despite fighting many internal battles all at once for years? How many countries can handle that and not be down by now? (think Sudan conflict).

Nigeria has dealt with Niger Delta Avengers, IPOB agitation, Fulani herdsmen, Bandits, Middle belt crisis, ISWAP, BokoHaram, Lukarawa from the Sahel in Kebbi, etc stretching the military thin across the nation but still keeping it’s
shit together in Abuja.

The case of Japaul will be like that man who always shout lion lion lion and everyone will rush to kill the lion, behold there is no lion.

When the lion finally comes, nobody came to rescue the man

If you are sitting on Japaul, don't attach any emotion.Just sit tight. The lion will finally come.

One of the few stocks to fly in September

Take note

Currently worth about $6.3 billion.

So it has grown 20 times

When you consider the outstanding shares of 21 billion and currrent market price of N435 that will give you about N9.1 Trillion or $6.3 billion when converted to dollar at N1450

It is not a sign of strength to be struggling endlessly against rag-tag militia like BH, ISWAP, Lukarawa, Niger Delta Avengers etc. especially when there has not been any decisive victory achieved by the Army for ages. Even Niger Delta militants were appeased by President Yar'dua via an amnesty problem; the military/navy did not overpower or crush them into submission. Fulani herdsmen are still wrecking havoc etc
Ironically, one of things that seem to keep Nigeria together is that there is enough money to be looted and shared among anyone that gets near to seat of power, hence the corrupt leaders of agitators get easily compromised and forget their agitations when they are settled with big contracts or deals. eg. Tompolo etc. It is not because of the strength of the military because they are poorly equipped and even demoralized.

The tax policy will lead to a large sell off before the end of the year, people will rebase their portfolio depending on their risk appetite...

BUA FY dividend landed!

I never had to fill any form to get dividends, even on my new portfolio with Atlass.

I think CSCS/SEC/Registrars have done what makes sense- if you already have my bank details, why am I having to fill another form in the name of madate??

Hmmn ! Don't be too sure that a new Govt will be quick to spit out the sugar it finds in it's mouth.

Taxation puts money in the hand of the Govt. A new Govt will not be in a hurry to dismantle a revenue scheme it met on ground, even if it would not have introduced the scheme itself.

In the words of our fathers, if abomination survives for a year, it becomes tradition.

Besides, will throwing out the "clueless, arrogant" Govt even be doable ?

What's happening in GUINNESS?
Quite a lot of transactions and buys at 141.90...
Could it be the parent company buying or an institutional investor with insider info?

* Not any form of advice, just curious to know.

Not all Registrars. Afriprudential and Coronation are very good. I am still battling 3 registrars here

Some people bought Japaul at 2.58 today.
Some bought at 2.70.
Some are willing to buy at any market price today.
Some are willing to buy when the momentum is high.
All these are already happening.
This shows September has something to offer.

Can't speak on the place of registrars. All I know is I've not had to fill any form, and I've always gotten every dividend.

BUAFOODS was particularly interesting cos I qualified via both MCSE and ATLS, and both came in without any issues despite the account at Atlass being less than 3 months old.
