According to him, “We are not creating another layer of bureaucracy. What we have done is to harmonise identification. If you already have a National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN), you need not worry. These will serve as tax IDs. The objective is simplification, not complication.”

Omo na wah for you o. The govt has already said no need for TIN if you have NIN.
Your NIN also serves as your Tax ID in 🇳🇬. This takes effect from January.
Your existing TIN remains valid. If you already have one, you do not need to register again. For those without a TIN, you will need your NIN (individuals)
Do you know how many people in the villages/hamlets that do not have NIN/BVN or TIN?
You think everybody lives in the cities?
The truth is there will be more activity shifted to the informal sector outside the formal banking system.

Another thing is that the CHN and the CSCS No. will now be joined by TIN to qualify you or Street to transact any thing on the NGX.

Only if you have seen fish escape the fishing net once caught can you or Street hope to evade the Jagabanomic tax net now being spread.

Initially, they said the savings from subsidy removal would be used to transform Nigeria's economy by building infrastructure-roads, schools, hospitals, electricity.

Now, they are saying the savings from subsidy removal is no longer enough to transform Nigeria's economy. Meanwhile, they have removed the so called ''subsidy'' on electricity and naira by devaluing the currency massively from N500:$ to N1,530:$.

The question is: what have they done with the savings in more than 2 years in govt?

How do you think the subsidy was being funded? Don't just criticise for the sake of it

If you don’t have even NIN or BVN as means of identification, why would you want to do banking? Through the NIN and BVN we formalise the economy more just like India has been doing within the last decade.

So you want all foreign investors to have tax ID's before they invest in Nigeria stocks market?
Let's stop thinking that the NGX is only for Nigerians!
It is this myopic view of successive govts that messes things up in this country.
This issue is not personal because millions of people would be affected. If the NGX crashes due to poorly thought-out policies, you and I would feel it.

Anybody that sha want to protest should do that in their region. Make anybody no bring agbako to my dommot.

If you think critically you will understand why a serious investor like dangote never built his refinery in his region or where the major oils are drilled in Nigeria.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo:
Agbalowomeri:

First thing is: did I tell lies with what I said?
Did the govt not promise to transform the economy if they removed subsidies? And some people have credited this govt for being bold(sic) for completely and totally removing the subsidies.

The question that follows is: what has the govt done or achieved for the masses with the savings from subsidies removed so far?
Before asking people to surrender more resources to you, is it not rational to give account of what you have done with what you had earlier? Is this a difficult thing to ask or do, if this country, its leadership and some of its followers are not just for sycophantic praise-mongering?

Millions of Nigerians all the country demonstrated against the harsh policies and economic conditions in the country. Did they also demonstrate just for the sake of it?

A govt suddenly decides to award a gargantuan, whooping N16trillion road project to cronies and business associates of the president without budgetary allocation or approval, without competitive tender or bids, without NASS scrutiny.
Surely people will ask questions if same govt asks for more resources or taxes?

I am not criticizing for the sake or fun of it. I am a citizen and also affected like other citizens. And I can equally choose to keep quiet and say nothing because, by the grace of God, I can cope well. But that would be selfish.

If things are better, I will also praise the same govt.

I am not cheering them. They:re doing "global best" policies, in other words copy-cat policies, without global best governance and accountability.

I agree they could end up chasing off participation and liquidity, thereby crashing the market with these extreme policies.

But if they insist on it, they may be levies and charges on foreign investors before they can repatriate home their loot, to make up for the tax requirement.

You can't stop a government when desperate to force through any policy.

Nigeria is not the only country in the world that will ask foreigners to pay tax so I don't see any big deal in the issue.
I am in Nigeria and I have had occasions to transact business with foreign countries and paid different kinds of taxes to their government.
If the underlying businesses of quoted companies are doing well,I can't see any problem with temporary fluctuations in price, anyone that wants to sell so as not to pay CGT can as well do that before January 2026.
