GeneralDae:
I think 1200 at this time would be a good balance for the economy. But anything less than 1000 in 2025 may affect the economy negatively by increasing imports (because the purchasing power level is already above 900 at least). FAAC would also be severely affected and exporters of cocoa and cashew may lose interest. So 1200 would be very good for 2025, and then maybe have it stabilised at 950/1000 in 2026.

This is my wishful thinking though and what I estimate would make a good balance for the economy 🤣.

Ghanaians recently had cedis suddenly appreciate from 16 cedis to 10 cedis in Q2 (due to high gold prices from Trump’s unpredictability) and it affected them. Remittances dropped sharply and imports increased. Cedis could not take that pressure and it’s back to 12 cedis/$ despite the record high gold prices we still have now.
I can't see the naira appreciating significantly in the short to medium term.
What is important for us now is a relative stability and ability to grow the reserves. A plus/minus 5% around 1550 should just be ok.

Please, what did UBA pay you ? I am not aware they declared anything recently. In fact, they are amongst Banks yet to release their H1 result. They are presently in the market parading right issues which is more expensive than the secondary market price ( wonder what they want to achieve? 🤔)

Good morning bosses.

Since the movement of jaizbank stock to non interest board in morgan capital, I am unable to trade it. I sent mandate to customer care two times, I called them and all that did not yield any result as I can't not buy or sell.

Please is anyone facing similar problem?

What other platform can I try?

Thank you.

Nah, appreciation to the 1300/1400 level in the next 3 months would speed up the decline in inflation which is ongoing and in turn allow us reduce MPR rates faster. We need some appreciation at least.

Stability that is being subsidized by borrowing to dress reserve. What fraud this government can not practice does not exist

I experienced same issue on MorganCapital platform. I sent a mail but got no response.

I simply opened a new account with Atlass. In about a week plus, it was active and I could trade Jaiz bank on theirs, even at cheaper fees.

People just like to display their ignorance probably because of their hatred, nobody said they are doing everything right but that doesn't mean you should be giving us what doesn't exist as a result of either ignorance or lies.

The significant increments you see in Nigerian debt was not as a result of this government borrowing but as a results of past government debt not recognized as debt via ways and means which the new government now put in order.
Stop spreading fake information.

Macro economics is not what anybody can dive into...this is not buying fake spare part from aba and sell it in Lagos as original.
sad sad

Something must be fishy somewhere!
It funny how some people are quick to defend the government on tax issues and attack their fellow citizens(soft targets) but, deliberately turn a blind eye and are slow to criticize and pressure the Nigerian government when they fail to meet their obligations to the average citizens.
For more than 10 years the issue of fuel subsidy removal lingered and was seen as what what will bring solution to our economic problems and the lives of our people, fix infrastructure, health, education etc.
They also sang the song of currency deviation(more than 100% devaluation) as another solution to our problems, that the naira will no longer be pegged.

Immediately this man entered he did both of them at once, even stopped subsidizing university education for citizens.
Fast-forward more than 2 years down the line, more Nigerians have been thrown deep into poverty and hardship.
Even our health system is in deeper shit.
Insecurity is worse than ever before.
But the government doesn't care.

All the funds accrued from all the different subsidy removal and the so called devaluation of naira runs into trillions of naira, with nothing to show for it.

not even those defending this tax strategy of impoverishing the citizens the more are asking questions instead they are folishly defending them. It baffles me really.
They are quick to refer to global best practices for taxation. How about achieving global best standards of living for your citizens before taxing them to stupor.
No accountability with public funds, nothing.
If you try to probe, they shut you up or kill you
Any their defendants see nothing wrong with that.
As long as we have senseless leaders and followers this country will never progress.
Individually you can support them all you want because somehow you are benefiting from the mess but be careful because one day it will comeback and hunt you.

Oando filling stations ke? They sold all their filling stations to NNPC many years ago but NNPC only completed the change of name/logo recently. Oando now operates majorly as crude oil exploration and production (E&P) and trading company. They don't sell refined products anymore until further notice.

This is not an investment "buy or sell" advice.

Good points made but there is a misconception about the tax bill. The tax bill has not increased existing taxes for anyone earning below 1.5 million naira monthly and even those earning above that have only had slight increases in a progressive manner (the higher you earn, the more you pay). Even for those investing in the stock market, over 80% may likely not pay taxes because they are small scale investors.
I read in some summaries that only those investing above 100 million naira per annum would be taxed (but I have to confirm this).
What the tax bill has done is that it has made tax evasion more difficult and expanded the net without increasing the taxes significantly.
It’s true that Government is wasteful but taxes are vital. The most taxed state Lagos is also the most fiscally viable state that doesn’t depend on FAAC. The countries in the world with the most diverse resources also do not play with their taxes and they tax heavily.
